Hello everybody welcome back to the stinker 77 today I’m starting a new series which is a tutorial and how to series on redstone what is it how do you use it what are the components what do they do and so we’re gonna start today real quick with the first and core Component the whole thing which is redstone dust I want to talk about what it does how do you get it what uses can you have for it how does it function and work so we’re gonna do that but basically if you didn’t know redstone in general is a way to control items inside Of Minecraft the way you can control doors or fences you can make things light up you can control how hoppers sort you can do pretty much anything you want any interactivity that you want to do you’re pretty much going to use redstone and we’re gonna be just showing You something real quick here here’s a little bit of redstone dust you can see it’s like a line I just wanna show let’s see let’s make it lamp I’m just making this I’m winging it we go there let’s put a button down and you can see just With that like that the button the wire going to the lamp and it lights up this is redstone we’re doing something interactive with the environment this is very cool okay let’s go on to how do you get redstone I’m down in a cave or my and you can see here’s what redstone ore Looks like it’s pretty cool it’s pretty easy to see that’s kind of like stone with a little bit of red one little interesting thing is when you walk over it or you activate it’s kinda hard to see here but you can see how it lights up a little bit that’s because it emits Some light oh very a little bit of light if you’re standing on and are interacting with it and that’s something to know if you’re mine you can always tell when you’re on redstone because it lights up now we are down here at layer 11 oh if you can see that in the left Side of the screen because redstone or basically is generated on Y level 16 and below from 16 down to bedrock you will find redstone you won’t find it anywhere else okay so here is the most common way people find redstone now you need to have at least an iron level pick or Bettors that’s iron that beat diamond picks or that be some sort of enchanted diamond pick and depending on what you use determines how much rest on you yes so here we have this you can see we got some redstone I got five just with my iron pick that’s Actually kind of high now let’s do it’s a regular diamond here okay you can see it got five more but I should have got a little bit more just depend it’s random now this is a fortune three pick you can see we have ten redstone we hit this we Have sixteen so fortunate we will get you typically more redstone so this is the primary way that people find redstone as they go around and mine it look at this real easy there we have redstone dust will really go ready to go so there are other ways though to find Redstone most people don’t know this or even use it and I’m going to show you the other ways that you can find redstone I’m down in a stronghold which has treasure chests in them so basically if you go into a treasure chest you look sometimes you will find redstone or Sometimes other things like diamonds Wow and some apples but you will find redstone in chess so if you find a chest out in a mine shaft in a stronghold out in another fortress you could have a chance of finding redstone that’s another place to get redstone but yet There are still other places which people don’t know about another place that you could possibly find redstone dust is in a jungle temple if you go to into a jungle temple and I’ve looked this up and kind of open this up so you can see there are some redstone Components you have sticky pistons you have some repeaters and of course a chest but you also have redstone dust so if you need to find a place you can’t go down mining for some reason you might be able to find it here in a jungle temple but yet there’s still a couple more Places where you can get redstone the two other ways that I know of is if you have a witch and you kill the witch and have a chance to get some redstone from a drop it didn’t happen there let’s try one more time and see if I can get some Rest or home from which if you’ve ever fought which is you know that you can get redstone from them there it is right there some redstone that’s pretty cool now the other way and I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to show this but there are possibilities that you could in fact Trade with a villager and get redstone I’m not sure which one would do it but you can get redstone from a village or during doing a trade but those aren’t s calling witches and trading you really don’t do that most people find that if you go down mining you get redstone or You can get redstone dust so now let’s go into some of the things you could do with it Hal redstone dust works redstone is very easy to place you can see just place it in line it’ll go around corners it’ll go up from blocks and down on blocks him over it and That’s how you place it it’s very easy now you can just break it just as easy just without even a tool you just hit that and come back or you can use a tool doesn’t matter that’s one way to pick it up now what if it’s on a block well if You haven’t hit a block and you remove the block the redstone will pop off okay so be aware that if you have redstone II hit on a block it will pop off but there are other ways that redstone pops off some of them are not too friendly some Of you may want to do you can see we have this redstone here red going across this area this is a dispenser and I’ll explain that in another video the base thing I’m making a water go out and water flows over it pops off the redstone so water is Usually bad for redstone contraptions and designs as you do just have that in mind when you’re building it another way that gets rid of the redstone but doesn’t let it pop off it just gets destroyed is lava and there it is and you can see this loss of connection okay that’s another Thing another way is if you happen to move it with say a device like a piston you can see there’s redstone in front of it here I click this button to make the best in fire it pushes it out but it does give you the redstone so you can Put it back so be aware when you’re making your designs that there are ways that the redstone can actually be disconnected or destroyed okay now let’s get to really using redstone and talking about what it does redstone is a way of sending signals between items okay so I’m gonna put a line here you can see they’re all dark too kind of a dark color now just for an example here I’m gonna show you a redstone torch and also a redstone block let’s do the torch they’re basically exactly the same thing as far as what they do for powering Redstone so you can see I put it right here and it says oh wait I’m connected to this I have power if you can tell it kind of dims a little bit and that’s because it has a signal strength it kind of fades as it goes further and further Away okay and basically the biggest power that you can have is 15 blocks away okay so we’ve gone 4 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 and you can tell it’s active because look it has this little particle effect looks like a little red Stones coming off of it and as you can see it gets from lighter to darker to dark up at the now and sixteenth one it’s not powered at all okay so there is a limit on how far you can go with redstone now there are things that can boost a signal and that Sort of thing and we’ll talk about that later but just bear in mind that this is a signal transfer system what’s what redstone really is used for as far as being in your projects okay now there are neat things you can do with redstone for instance let’s see let’s do Something here let me grab a block any block will do okay it goes into this block it actually powers this block okay now what we’re gonna do here is I’m gonna take this torch and put this here see now there’s no signal here even though this torch is on this one’s off And I believe if I invert this it turns us on torches function of inverting redstone signal now this is offices oh wait I’m off I want to turn on I’ll put this torch back this is on this is oh wait I’m on I want to invert to go to off and it passes That around so you can see redstone you can do things very interestingly with it will go more into redstone torches in another video but I want to just kind of show you the redstone has a way of doing signals being passed between objects and it has a length that it maximum length That it can use be useful before you need to do some sort of boosting or that sort of thing redstone is using a crafting table to make many of the components in the Redstone suite of tools if you will and so I’m going to show you some of those recipes right now You can do this and you get a redstone block which is really good okay so let’s see if we do that you can make here I’m going through a cheat sheet I have on my other monitor you can make a clock that’s pretty cool isn’t it okay you can make Compass with the iron that’s pretty easy when you go over my other screen here there we go you can make I always forget these recipes that’s why I got to use a cheat sheet if you have this you can make a dispenser and without it it is a Dropper the same recipe the two are very similar dispenser and dropper and they have very similar functionality and I’ll go into that into an in another video okay if you put this all the way around kind of catch s but with redstone in the middle it becomes a note blocks if You’re wanna make music okay that’s pretty easy one of the other tools is pretty common that people like to use for redstone circuits is the observer we’re going to this is a very powerful tool okay and then of course if you want to do let’s see let’s do another one Here the good old piston here take some iron it takes redstone and it takes some wood oops there we go that’s the piston okay let me see if there’s anything else in my cheat sheet here all those couple more things okay so we’re gonna go here if You have glowstone and redstone you can make a redstone lamp that’s pretty easy right now if you make a torch torch this takes a stick and redstone dust makes a redstone torch is very similar has some light properties we’ll go into that later too okay and then let’s see it’s Also can be used for a repeater and I don’t have the stone on me and let me go get the stone real quick it should be out here there it is right here you have some stone there we go and you put some redstone on here and a Couple redstone torches and you get repeaters you can see that was used there too what else I think if one more that redstone is really used for that I see on my cheat sheet I’ll put that here if you have iron like that did you put a Redstone here and you put any stone pressure plate you get the detector rail okay so those are some of the things that you can make with redstone dust okay and it’s pretty cool those the functionality of all those will be explained in later videos as I go Through this series on redstone so now you know what redstone is used for you know how to get it you know how to get it through mining or through other sources and you know about signal strength how far can go which would be 15 blocks remember that and you can show particle Effects when it’s in use you also know that it’s using a creation of many things you can see I’ve put something together right here a little gutter repeating system here powers us on powers it off just real quick it’s just cycles through it’s like a clock it’s Not really cool but you can do all sorts of things with redstone in Minecraft it’s great it’s just fantastic
