Creating a Glowing Squid Farm in Minecraft
Are you ready to add some glow to your Minecraft world? Whether you’re playing the Java edition or the Bedrock/mobile version, a glowing squid farm is a great addition. Glowing squids drop glow ink sacs, which can be used to create glowing item frames or make signs shine. Let’s dive into the process of building this unique farm and making your world shine!
Materials and Location
Before you start, make sure you have all the necessary materials. The glowing squids tend to spawn in water below Y=30 in the Java edition, while in the Bedrock (mobile) version, they can spawn in any water. Once you’ve chosen your location, dig down to Y=20 and create a large space, approximately 17x10x17.
Building the Farm
Once you’ve prepared the space, place two chests and connect them to 18 hoppers for collecting the glow ink sacs. Next, create a stage using signs and water to attract the squids. Fill the area with water and create a flowing water effect by placing and removing blocks. Finally, add glass and blocks to create a comfortable environment for the squids.
Using the Farm
To use the farm, simply dig up to the surface and pour water down to Y=50 to create an observation platform. Once you’re set up, you can start collecting glow ink sacs by letting the farm run on its own. After an hour of testing, the results were impressive, but the real magic happens when you create a luxurious stage at Y=20 to entice the squids to put on a show. The collection system of signs, hoppers, and chests will deliver the goods right to your doorstep.
With a little creativity, you can also decorate the walls of the farm to make it both functional and beautiful. Now, it’s time to enjoy the company of your new glowing squid friends and let your creativity shine in the Minecraft world!
