A showcase of a datapack I’m working on for the “Minecraft Potions” (private) server I’m a part of, featuring Cryptids, Golems, and a Miniboss!
This was all done in vanilla minecraft (though I’m playing on a Fabric client because my computer has bad performance lmao), with no content mods or resource packs. The entities were made with a combination of Item and Block display entities, and extensive function scripting done entirely within minecraft’s command systms (that’s right, no json code! not for the mobs themselves at least, the loot tables needed some lol)
The custom entities seen within this video are: – Herobrine (Cryptid, Demon) – Loki (Cryptid, Deity) – Jean (Cryptid, Dragon Spirit) – Watcher (Cryptid, Old One) – Skullraptor (Enemy, Ravager) – Eidolon Guardian / Totem Golem / Bepis Bubbo (Golem, Wolf) – The Gobbler / Maw Golem (Golem, Wolf) – Flitterbones / Flier Golem (Golem, Allay) – Redsthrone / Lightning Golem (Golem, Allay) – Ancient Guardian / Proto-Warden / Elder Golem (Golem, Iron Golem) – Stoneman / Stone Golem (Golem, Snowman / Snow Golem) – Bronze Bull / Small Bull Golem (Golem, Horse) – The Colchis Steed / Big Bull Golem (Golem, Mule) – GargAntuar / Gargant Golem (Golem, Pig)
The packs displayed in this video are “otvgolems” and “otvlore”, the current versions of which can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NyPIBycDe5APYO1ftQQByLcJlFtDv_zr/ These datapacks are free for use, but any redistribution of these packs or content made using these packs must contain proper credit (preferably alongside a link to this video, as all credits are present within this description).
Cryptids are made entirely using custom head models. These models were made with skins from https://www.minecraftskins.com/, each limb was converted into a head texture by myself using https://www.getpaint.net/ and then applied to my own account as a skin, and then converted into permanent reusable custom heads using https://minecraft-heads.com/custom-heads/heads-generator/ – Loot Tables for custom entities were created using https://misode.github.io/loot-table/, because I don’t know JSON.
The code for relative momentum alteration (used for the Maw’s burping, the Flyer’s throwing, the Big Bull’s ramming, and the Gigant’s deflection) was taken from https://www.reddit.com/r/MinecraftCommands/wiki/questions/shootfacing/, my greatest thanks to u/Plagiatus for that – and to the rest of r/MinecraftCommands, which served as an excellent resource for when I was struggling to implement features.
All other code was done by me alone, over the span of several days straight, and I unfortunately did not save all of the resources I used for help during that. Sorry about that.
My skin is a variation on skin/21585420/lingerie-demon-girl/” rel=”noopener nofollow”>https://www.minecraftskins.com/skin/21585420/lingerie-demon-girl/ by zoex5001, with a hair palette taken from the Official Otherversian Logo redesign, based on the original purple/green variant designed by my good friend, the phenomenal https://arial.uwu.ai/ (she also makes music!), and a clothing palette taken from the official Minecraft sprite for a Chorus Fruit. The corrupted side with brown hair is just a hue+saturation shift from the primary hair palette used.
