Wither Skull Farm without Roses – Legacy SMP 2: #5 | Minecraft 1.16 Survival Multiplayer

To all the geeks and nerds out there welcome back to another episode on the legacy smp server we’re over here at the witch farm and before we go any further we need to remember that we’re currently in a new chaotic event which means i can’t use the proper names

For items so basically anything any blocks items that would go in your inventory i need to use alternative vocabulary so this is going to be a challenge so i’m sure i’m going to mess up so if i do then put a comment let me know in the in the description

In the comments below sorry and we’ll have to rectify that there is a there is a jar in the community center for us to uh put in some some shiny rocks if we uh if we make a mistake but yeah that is sorry to uh yeah be aware of this episode all right

So over at the witch farm i’ve also planted down some of these reeds and i’m going to use these uh to craft some exploding lollipops all right doing right so far so obviously our witch farm i can say which that’s a mob we don’t put that inventory that’s okay

So our witch farm is uh producing a bunch of very uh very interesting uh items for us in particular the uh the stones that are red and uh of course we have the exploding powder as well so we can combine that with uh with these reeds to make our

These things in my inventory these these things oh gosh this is going to be tough all right so let’s have a look inside and let’s have a look what we’ve done i’ve got a little bit of afk in here and there so if we come in here

I haven’t got a sorting system just yet but you can see we’ve got this kind of stuff already we’ve got these blocks and these i’ve been crafting them up as we go we’ve got a bunch of bunch of this stuff and this stuff and yeah been crossing

This stuff off as well so i’m going to put that in there i’ve also got a a storage cube in here a white one filled with exploding lollipops yes all right so far so good now i did break this earlier with the wrong pick so make sure i use the right pick here

All right so i’m going to continue doing a bit of this gathering this stuff up and then we could talk about this week’s uh project which is going to be a wither skeleton farm we’re back at home and we can see here that pearl has built

A monument to the uh the uh the the dragon offspring maybe here it is so yeah this is uh after the dragon fight obviously uh we got this so yeah yeah we’ve got the permanent shrine here just in front of the uh the community building so that is very

Nice very nice indeed now we need to go in here because last episode was the first episode of the the chaotic events and we uh we got a few names wrong of some things so the rule is that we have to pay a diamond for each minecraft day that we make a

Mistake so that’s one diamond that’s for today well that’s for the last episode i suppose so i’ve i’m paid up so far i don’t think i’ve made a mistake just yet but that can change at any point now while we’re here we’re going to go over to the storage building which is

Over here and we’re going to add our exploding lollipops to the storage so i’m not sure if there’s a place for these already or not so let’s have a quick look around uh not sure if there’s anything here i’m probably going to miss it maybe up here

Let’s have a look up here where we have some of the other ingredients so we’ve got ingredients there i think other ingredients over there so let’s maybe just pop them let’s put them in here maybe let’s uh go for this one in here okay so i’ve got some in my

Inventory and i’ve also got some in my ender chest so i’ll dig these out and yeah get this filled up for the other the other peeps and here it is a chest full of these things ready for everyone else to uh to use and take as they want

Obviously we can refill that as we go and i think skis is working on a farm for this green stuff for our reeds so that can come in handy combining that with the farms that myself and uh and and uh that’s like slimers made we should be good

For the good old exploding the lollipops all right i’ll let everyone else know that they are there in stock so they can pick them up we’re back here again we’re back here again i just watched back the footage of the last clip and i said the real name for this thing

And also the real name for this thing so i’m gonna put the shiny rock in here to cover that mistake this is gonna cost me a lot of shiny rocks i tell you that this is not very easy at all but i’m going to try and be as honest as

Possible and if i mess up then i mess up all right so we need to go into the nether next because we need to find the location for today’s farm and actually i’m going to show you a tool i’ve not used before but actually is very very cool indeed and so this is

Our nether and we need to find the perfect location for a wither skeleton farm of course what we could do is fly around this place to to see if we can come across a a good location and yeah yeah that can work but it can take a long time

So what i’m going to do is i’m going to use a different technique and this may or may not be something you’ve seen before so let’s hop into a creative world which has got the same seed as this world and yeah let’s do some exploration do you recognize this place

This is where we have our nether portal uh in the uh on the legacy server just here actually we’ve got built a little island we’ve got pathway going over that way and in that direction that’s where we go to our end portal and the witch farm is just over there as well

So this is a blank canvas now how are we going to use this world to find a perfect location for a wither skeleton farm well we are going to use uh some tools to help us now i’ve got a mod installed called carpet mod by the mighty nembon

So if i can confirm that that’s installed because there is a carpet command right here there’ll be links in the description to to the tools i’m going to use here and also a video from them bomb that explains how this tool works and gives you a full rundown i’m only going to cover

The basics that i need for today so yeah make sure you check out that that video and also check out them bomb and subscribe to him because he is absolutely amazing so what are we going to do well we are going to install something into carpet mod

We’re going to install a script so we need to do script and we need to do load and there’s a new item down here called world map so there’s a script file that i’ve i’ve installed in the right place in my saved folder so i’m going to load

That up so that’s loaded up as a separate script like a plug-in if you like to carpet mod and now all i need to do is eat a sweet berry bush so i’m going to stand right here and when i eat it it’s going to uh going

To do something so it’s preparing the map hold on so while it’s doing that i’ll explain what’s going to happen so it is going to generate a miniature version of the world and i can let’s do that pretty quickly so if i come up here just like that you can see it’s generated

A a kind of a mini map of the world so you can see the biomes here so there’s a crimson forest there is a walt forest you can see here there’s a sold sand valley we’ve got uh you know this that this over here is the

The nether wastes so we can we can zoom around this place and get an idea of where things are now not only does it show the biomes it also shows structures so here you can see this is this is a broken portal we’ve also got this which is another

Fortress and there’s other bits and pieces as well now the interesting stuff for us is what we’re looking for we’re looking for a fortress like this one that’s inside a soul sand valley just like this so what i can do now is i can come to

This location and then i can eat my berry again and i’ll be teleported to the full location in our world so we can easily scout around now and look for a really good fortress now we can check this out see if it’s any good or not

If not we can eat our berries again that will take us back to the minimap which we can now fly around to find the perfect location now this is much easier than any other kind of external tools because also what we could do now is

We can also place down blocks in here to kind of mark things so what i should have done was mark out our spawn area but i can come back and do that later so you can place down some blocks of course market you can leave down signs things like

That and you can also use this like as a way to navigate your world uh we’ve we’ve the kind of placeholders that kind of thing so yeah so here we’ve got uh another fortress inside of soul sand valley so i think what i’m going to do

Now is i’m going to fly around here check out some of these see how easy they are to get to and if they are are good enough for what we need for our farm and then once i’ve found a good location i’ll bring you back and show you what’s next

I think i found the location for our weather skeleton farm it’s right here and i’ve marked it with these uh yellow shiny blocks in the in our in our mini map right here and over there i’ve marked where the the portal is that takes us back to the

Village uh using those yellow shinies uh as well so we can see kind of how far away they are for each other now basically this the scale here is it’s one block per chunk so it’s one block for 16 blocks in another in the in the full size world so we can

Go to this fortress as you can see here this fortress is covered uh in a soulsand valley it’s saturn valley all the way around so there’s a little bit of uh of of crimson forest right here and a little bit over here as well so i think

We’ve got a little bit of spawnproofing to do on those two edges because they’re quite close but if we go here and eat our fruit we should be teleported to the full the full-size fortress and you can see it’s inside the salsa and valley which is what we’re after so that tool is

Really useful for surveying your world and yeah check it out now also uh it doesn’t just work in the netherlands all dimensions which is really good for other things as well so here you can see we’ve got a few uh uh intersections so these are the uh

The areas where we’re gonna build our farm so we might have a double we might do a single we’ll see how it goes there’s also some other uh intersections as well so we’ve got some future expansion options as well uh in the future we’re just going to build a simple phone for today

And then we can upgrade it a bit later on now one thing i do want to double check is the the spawning sphere and what other blocks are are inside the range the spawning range so if we’re standing here this is where our killing area is going to be

The wither skeletons will fall down here and we’ll chop them up roughly roughly in this place so i’ve added a mini hud and i’ve added the the spawning sphere so if i scoot all the way over to here and if i in fact if i go into a spectator mode

Just like this we can fly a little bit quicker so here you can see the spawning sphere so this is where multiple spawn if i’m standing over there on the in the killing area and if we scoot around here you can see that all of this is soul sand valley

But when we get to this point over here this is the little bit of uh of um of the crimson forest so we’ll have to spawn proof this bit so we don’t get to piglets or hogling spawning taking up the mob cap and yeah reducing the rates of the farm

But if we uh scoot all the way around here you can see all of this is salsa valley inside this sphere so this is a pretty good location so let’s scoot on all the way back over here this is pretty good so yeah this is where we’re going to build our farm so

All we’ve got to do now is the simple task of finding this in survival which might be a little bit tricky and then getting on with the spawn proofing all right let’s get back to legacy and yeah start the process of building this farm we’re back on the legacy server and i

Think i know where the fortress is i think it’s in that direction somewhere uh we need to go over there and have a look but what i’ve done is i’ve uh i’ve dug this tunnel over here it’s not too long and then past this tunnel we can fly pretty much straight in that

Direction and that will take us back to the portal so hopefully the ports the uh the uh the fortress is over here somewhere there’s one fortress there and i think there’s another one over here yep there it is there it is this is the one all right we found it

Awesome okay so as you can see there’s lots of mobs here now with next thing to do or the first thing is the hardest job which is to spawn proof this area without dying so what i’m going to use is i’m using these cobblestone slabs we’ve got our

Copper gen that we built last episode so uh that’s the that’s the block i’ve got lots of oh take that there’s shield another advancement well i’m gonna gotta watch out i’m not gonna die doing this so yeah we need to spawn proof the area so um i normally like to use other other

Things like either pressure plates or or buttons without dying but i’m going to stick with the the slabs this time because that’s what we’ve got um yeah we don’t have much else resources to use so this is going to be yeah a bit tricky but i’ve got my fire

Resistance so i can chug this down there we go and the blazers won’t bother us anymore and now we need to place these blocks now we don’t need to put it on this level here this is not spawnable it’s outside it’s actually outside the fortress bounding box

So i think we’ve got to find a place to start yeah and see how much of this we can get done without dying So so So And we are done we’re actually done i think i’ve had a good scout around and i think we are as spawn proof as we can so i’ve placed a load of these these half these half blocks that i’ve got in my hand here so and we are currently dangling down underneath the central

Um intersection where we’re going to build our farm today so this is going to be the the killing area and as you can see up here this is an intersection that’s where we’re going to build our farm and you can see that i’ve covered the entire fortress in these half blocks

Yes all the way around trying to make sure i use the wrong term on purpose so yeah all of the fortress is now covered up and we don’t have to cover up this top because this is the very top of the fortress mobs won’t spawn up here so we don’t

Have to cover that but everything else in the fortress is uh totally covered up and also i found something very interesting we have a double blade spawner so there’s a spawner here and one just over here as well and i’ve tested it i’ve stood kind of in the middle and they both activated

So that could be a future project a double blade spawner which is very nice now i’ve also flown around the outside so if we put our spawning sphere on here it is you can see i’ve gone around the edge and there was the various bits and pieces there was

Quite a few extra bits that i uh that i first thought of uh some crimson forest so there’s this bit here i had to do some over here you can see a bunch of stuff down there as well so yeah basically went all the way around and i’ve been there scouting around to

Make sure i can’t see any other mob spawning and i think i finally got it hopefully anyway so i think we’re down to the next bit so we need to collect some resources now to build our farm and we’ve got some got a couple of things we need to pick up from skizzleman

He’s already prepared um a little something for us so we go over there and get that and then once we’ve done that we can start building this farm and we need to catch a piglen all right we’re on our way to pick up the final thing we need

Uh for the farm i’ve already got a bunch of resources together inside our portable storage cube and skidz has let me know that he’s got a little setup over here and i think this is it yes this looks very good there we go and he’s already uh already done some breeding for me

Because we need these things right here we need we need these ovulations oh man okay i might actually get a few more as well while we’re here so let’s uh let’s get some of this seaweed and give it to these ninjas there we go and hopefully we should get some more

Hey look at that hey look mom now i’ve got my silk touch pick right here i need to get that on a on a real pic i’ve still got it on my my iron one for now but let’s grab these very nice okay cool we’re back over at

The site of our with the skeleton farm and i’m just about finished uh clearing out the last few blocks to make room for the farm so as you can see i think this is probably the last block i’m standing on yeah it is but before i do anything uh

You can see that i’ve cleared out this this intersection right here and then down there i’ve improved our killing area i’ve kind of spruced that up so let’s have a look at that in a second so i’m gonna hold on i’m gonna break this and then try and fly

Yes okay we did it we didn’t die so if i flow up here we’ll probably get a better view so that whole intersection has now been removed ready for our farm all right very good yeah so down there is the killing area so what we can do now is when we come

Into this area we can fly in and there’s a little area i’ve hollowed out here in this uh this pillar of the fortress so you fly into here and this leads us nicely into the kelling area this is all made of glass so obviously we can see outside so it’s

All nice and cool uh the ghasts when they’re flying around concierge they won’t shoot us and we’ll be able to chop away at the with the skeleton’s feet that will be here now the farm we’re building today doesn’t use wither roses that’s right no wither roses required

Because this again like our other farms is a starter farm the idea here is that we can build something nice and simple to get us going now this won’t produce us too many skulls compared to what we’ve done before last season we had a farm that produced over 700 skulls per hour this

Is not that far this is just to get us going so we should be able to get you know a good number of skulls out of this so we can get beacons for everyone and that is debate that is the goal at this stage i’ve also laid out some path over there

That leads down over that way to a little um a little area where it’s close to a crimson forest so we can get a piglet because a piglet is also required uh for this farm as well so i think we’ve done the hard bit we’ve spawn proof we’ve cleared the area now

We just gotta build the farm and that is actually the easy bit so i think we’ll do that next get the phone built up and then we can have some adventures trying to get piggling over here and then that will be our farm done and Dusted Do This is the with the skeleton farm it’s a big gray blob not very interested at all but we need to uh make some changes so we need to get a piglet over next so we’re going to do that in a second i’ve already rigged up a little pathway for him to follow us

We’re going to run along this way he’s going to follow us he’s going to hopefully get trapped uh on this block right here and we can trap him in so the piglet is going to be here we need to find one with a sword hopefully

And then we need to remove some of these carpets once that’s done and then that will free up this area for our mobs to spawn now all the fortress mob’s going to spawn in here a pot from the magma cubes and we’re going to leave some of these carpets to stop them from

Spawning and the with the skeletons are going to get attracted to the piglet which is here then they’re going to try and get to him they’re going to run down here and fall down there into killing area now the other the other mobs the uh the zombie pig men

Or piglens whatever they’re called nowadays they’re gonna be attracted by these eggs they’re gonna go this way fall down here go into the cactus and with the blazes that will spawn here they will get uh they want to pathfind to some solid blocks and these are the

Solid blocks on the outside so again they’ll try and pathfind over here they’ll fall down there and again get killed by the cactus now we’re not going to be able to get blaze rods or anything like that because uh yeah they you need to play a kill for that

And yeah we won’t get that at all so let’s see if we can get a piglet in here without any hitches so let’s head on over here and you’ll see that uh i’ve created a little pathway in here so if we uh break this open there’s none there there

Let’s see let’s see if we can get one there’s our boy look at that a guy over sword in fact there’s two of them there’s two of them with swords right they are the people we need so we just need one of them so we’re going to try

Hmm i’m going to do this maybe separate them and which one’s coming maybe not that guy maybe just this guy but now what i’m gonna do is i’m gonna come over here i’m gonna be brave and take my helmet off and he’s off to me okay let’s go

Let’s go run run run and run i think this guy is a these guys run pretty fast so let’s go this way bro well geez right there he’s right there whoa he is a speedy boy okay okay and i’ve got to look back just going to keep going

Okay i wanted to follow me so i don’t get too far ahead just zip down here big look behind there he is come on guy let’s go hopefully i’ve got my trap all set up hopefully it’s all gonna work come on let’s go here he comes

Right up here i’ve hit up here and i’ve got a remember gotta i’ve got to just scratch under here and he should follow yes okay good he stops now just got to put a block behind him yes okay he’s in and i’ve also got a name tag on me

And i’m going to name you butcher well no no not gas now no no no no right need to take care of that guy get slammed let’s get back let’s get back to butcher hopefully he’s okay um i’ve been watching a lot of the boys recently

So he is uh he is uh he’s our guy right so we’ve got to clear all this out of here and this guy is going to be bait then for the uh for the uh for the for the uh the with the skeletons think of the word

There for a minute right so let’s just grab that door put that there and that should be it we should now be able to get rid of all of this all of this what if that’s great and that’s it our guy is in place our farm

Is done or some stuff and the last thing to do is to remove the correct carpet so we’ve got to leave these carpets in the correct pattern and yeah i think i know what they are so i’m going to do this now if you want to build this one for yourself

This is a i’ve got a tutorial on my channel already of how to do this so yeah there’ll be a link in the description if you want the full instructions and uh yeah explanation of how it works okay this boiling platform is done now nothing spawned in here at the moment because

I’m standing here but hopefully if we go down to the afk spot let’s see how long it takes for uh something to happen hopefully something will all down hopefully get some with the skeletons dropping down i don’t know how i’m not sure how long it’s gonna take so let’s

Stand down here for a minute oh look at this they’re coming down straight away check that out oh dip it’s working brilliant look at this straight away straight away it’s working all right that is great news that’s great now if you look over here there we go there’s the zombie fight piglen

He was attracted to the egg so he’s going on there and he’s getting killed and that means that the mob cup scheme is getting freed up there’s the blazers they’re going in as well so we need to get rid of those you have to free up the mob cap so more mobs can

Spawn now of course this is not a super super fast farm this is just something we could whip up pretty quickly and get us going so i need to get a looting three swords what i do need and then we can yes start chopping away these guys and get some wither skulls

And now i just need a few more levels so it turns out that poppy has got a villager in her base that trades a tr trades a looting one book so i’ve done a bit trading got a looting three book but i need 16 levels so just come over here and

Then we can get it on okay looting three sword in hand let’s see how long it takes to get our first skull out of this thing did we go on that there we’ve got to wait and see let’s chop away a few more and see how long it takes

And the first skull has just popped on through so i’ve literally been here for four minutes and we’ve got our first one so like i said this is not a super efficient farm this is uh just to get us going but that will do us nicely so i

Think i’m going to hang around here for a bit and then try and get a bunch of these skulls yeah that would be super cool and then we could share those out with the rest of the server members so everyone can go and get their beacons

That would be amazing okay look at this farm it is working beautifully there you can see some weather skeletons being attracted to the piglet in the center and dropping down now we’ve got these other mobs here the blazes and the piglens uh the double flight piggies you’ll see

That they get attracted to the side here they jump down and land on the cactus as we said there you go there’s a blaze going into the hole down there yes so that is all working so that clears the platform for more mobs to spawn of course then

When the with the skeletons fall spawn there without these guys they try and get to the piglet they fall down and if we scoot down here you can see that i’m underneath with my player account right there and then i can just hop over to that and give them a swipe

And there we go all of the these die with my looting three saw yes really good all right this is going excellently well and so the question is how many skulls do we have well let’s take a look look at this over a stack a stack of nine skulls so far

That is really good now i don’t know if there’s an advancement for picking up a stack of these let’s see if there is not sure if there is or not no there should be though there should be there isn’t but there should be okay so i’m going to i think i’m going

To take these back to back to the overworld and probably put them in the in the central uh community hall for everyone to uh to grab some and i’ll let them know yeah so let’s head on back over there and get that set up with us goals from logic there they are

And they’re inside the community center right here in this chest check it out i stuck around for a little bit longer got a few more so now we’ve got uh this this chest full of these uh these weather skulls and of course you need three for a wither so

People can come along here and help themselves now i’m going to help myself because i want to have one myself so i can have my own personal beacon but that could be something we work on next time so there we have it a simple with a
