What’s up guys and welcome back to the aj6 channel as most of you have probably heard by now 2b2t has been having quite the rough few weeks following their disaster of an update after being stuck on the version from six years ago the oldest Anarchy server in Minecraft Finally updates 1.19 but in the process managed to split its Community like never before now as most of you know MCO is also looking to update sometime in the future and I’m making this video to address some of the problems with the 2B update to make sure Minecraft online Doesn’t suffer the same fate now I know in the past MCO staff has been pretty successful when it comes to updates but they can’t hurt to address some of the things that killed any sort of hype for 2b2ts so without further Ado let’s get into the video shall we Now the first reason out of the four I’m gonna be talking about is the one they really have the least concerns about for MCO it was also the biggest reason the 2B update fell flat on his face resets now the reason I’m not too concerned About this for MCO is the fact that the idea of the map and items never resang is more ingrained in the server than 2v2t and the idea that everything is preserved is taking very very seriously and if you need proof just go try breaking a torch on the server believe Me it is not gonna end well that being said a point this big still does deserve to be talked about by far the biggest reason for the backlash was the resets that housemaster the service owner completed while the update was taking place housemaster removed items from player inventories and storages as well as Deleted old unused chunks and replaced them with 1.19 chunks something which upset the community as the server was supposed to never reset just like MCO it kind of makes sense why house thought this would be a good idea with it making newer items possible to get closer to Spawn and also slowing down the progression of getting all those newer items but in the end it was at the cost of the community’s trust luckily at the time recording this the server is being rolled back to before the change but with the 1.19 update so all we can do is Hope that house and any other old server looking update learn something from the mess that was 2v2t now the next little point I want to touch on is openness especially with an update as big as 2b2ts or mcos communication is key to avoiding drama like with what happened with house Master and that whole situation we just talked about if only house was just somewhat transparent about these bigger changes the stuff that ruined the update could have been rooted out early but yeah we wouldn’t be making this video if that’s what happened would we especially with communities the size of 2b2t and MCO communication is 100 needed for a good update keeping up hype and making sure that only the good features end up in the server in the case of 2v2t housemaster has always been known to be very hands-off and not involved with the server and he apparently thought that This approach would work well with the update too now when it comes to MCO the staff is known to be very involved with the servers anyone who joined would quickly find out but when it comes to the supposed update that’s going to happen sometime in the future there’s really Not too much info out there about it maybe it’s not a priority right now or maybe it’s been shelved I don’t know all I can do is hope that when the time is right MCO will be able to do what 2b2t did not moving on though player input is Another big piece of the puzzle that cannot be overlooked being open is only one half of the solution but listening to player input is just as important if not more like if we were to go back to my point about resets for while there’s been the idea of floating around with another Reset for MCO so that when the server updates players can more easily find all the new nether biomes and items and because this idea has been out there for quite a bit players have been able to voice their opinions on it and the staff now has a pretty good idea on how the Community would respond if the change actually happened and while I’m not too sure if it’s confirmed or not the player input that went towards the idea gives the staff somewhere to work from so that they can keep as much of the community as possible happy when the update Releases now here’s something a little funny a little while after the 2v2t update had been released and all the backlash have been made pretty clear house Master decided to go on to Reddit and create a poll to see if the players want him to reset the server to before He had tampered with things and well the results speak for themselves servers cannot afford to forget that is the players that make them what they are and without them the server is nothing but just another Minecraft world and after all of that you can finally start to think about balancing the Update even though 2b2t’s changes weren’t received too well that doesn’t mean that changing absolutely nothing is the right thing to do either some parts of the update specifically parts that could harm the server or ruin the experience of the player may need to be changed for the server to stay fun to Play so even though I just spent most of the first part of the video talking about why change is bad it really isn’t it just depends on what kind of change you’re talking about was it something made with the player in mind or only with the goal of just moving on to the Next big thing that’s really what comes down to balancing the update between the new features and what the players want and that’s what 2b2 team missed and why their update was such a spectacular failure now just to be clear I have nothing against house Master his way of Running 2v2t has worked for over a decade and it’s produced one of the most unique Minecraft experiences ever to exist that being said though everyone makes mistakes and this one has proven that what worked in the past may not be the best idea now and as server revolves The server staff needs to learn to evolve with it and this fumble just proves that point that zero communication from a housemaster is not what’s best for 2b2t anymore especially if house wants to continue updating the server in the years to come but shown time and time again this video you need To be very careful with changing how you do things and you have to stop to think if the changes are with the players in mind or just to help out yourself now again when it comes to MCO I have no worries about an update the service staff are very involved with the Community and they always have a really good idea of what the players want with an update as all of them are active players themselves I have full faith that in the update they decide to roll out will be thought through completely and with the interest of the players at Heart keeping the oldest server in Minecraft fresh and alive for years to come Thank you guys so much for listening to my little take on the whole 2b2t situation and giving me the excuse to talk about MCO the server that means so much to me anyway thanks for watching this is ajzick
