Are Hoglin Farms Overpowered?

[Applause] Hey guys welcome back to another video today i want to discuss if hogland farms are overpowered well the opinion if they are overpowered not is definitely subjective i want to illustrate how they are disruptive to the current meta of the game long gone are the days where it

Was actually challenging to not die observation when you started in your survival game because every update new types of food and new food sources are added so i spawned here in a random seed and yeah this is an easy one plains biome we can kill animals there’s even a village

Nearby we can break the hay bales and craft bread out of it so it should be quite easy to survive here for the beginning if you started on an island there’s now plenty of kelp around that also makes a good starter food source there are even food options in the desert biome

While surviving shouldn’t be an issue anymore it was still a long term goal to get the best food sources in a game so while you could perfectly live of melon slices or dried kelp or sweet berries it gets quite annoying since you have to eat a lot of items so definitely wanted

To get one of those either the golden carrot the cooked pork chop or a steak the best food sources in the game i would even argue that steak or pork chops that have the same nutritional value are even better than golden carrots excluding combat situations so for

Normal gameplay steak or pork chop is my choice of food and in order to explain it you have to take a look at the numbers behind it so if you would eat a steak or cooked pork chop you would get eight points on the hangar bar so the hunger bar

Is the one that is visible at the moment i got two and a half of those bars filled up that’s five hunger points if you have all 10 of them filled up then you have 20 hunger points and you can’t have more than 20. then this is invisible saturation value

That also maxes out at 20. so if you eat one cooked pork chop you will get 12.8 on that invisible saturation bar and in total if you combine the two get 20.8 so if you do certain actions in the game it would subtract from that etc combined

Saturation and hunger bar so if you have 20 saturation 20 hunger you have 40 points and first it would take off points from the saturation and then continues with the hunger alright so why do i think it’s better so first of all if you eat a

Golden carrot you only get three on the hunger bar but 14.4 in the saturations in total get a bit less than the pork chop and in normal gameplay i usually don’t eat all the time because it would be a waste of food if you for example only have 19

Bars filled up and you would eat immediately then waste a lot of those hunger points and you would need need to eat more food over time also switching to the food and inventory slot is kind of annoying so usually when i play i wait until i only have three bars left

Because that means i can’t sprint anymore and then i start eating food in my case i just eat two pork chop and that fills me up completely so now i got 20 hunger and 20 saturation i’m completely filled up if i’m in the same situation and carrots

Are my preferred food then i need to eat three golden carrots to be completely filled up so now i also got a 20 hunger and 20 saturation so it doesn’t matter that you actually get more saturation if you eat a single one because it caps out at 20.

So even yeah eating four you won’t get 43.2 you only get 20. so i need to eat three golden carrots which takes a bit longer than eating two pork chops or two steak and i get the same output out of it additionally there’s also a chance that you waste some saturation if you

Are really low on hunger and only eat a single golden carrot because the saturation can never be higher than a hunger so don’t want to get too hunger left if i eat a golden carrot now it would have a tonga but since the saturation can’t be higher then the

Hunger only have yeah eight saturation as well so in this case you would waste a lot of that higher saturation value as well with a golden carrot excels is in combat situation that’s the best food source because if your hunger is completely filled up at 20 and you have some saturation left

This saturation can be transformed into hearts so in case you’re fighting a lot um and you need to replenish your health as quickly as possible then you want to eat as soon as you fall below completely filled up hunger bar and since it would fill up your hunger you

Can only eat one food item and the golden carrot gives you the most saturation a single food item and you can’t reach that cap of 20 anyway so the hunger point or the more hunger points of the pork chop or steak would be wasted anyway since you would only get

One hunger back if you eat as soon as you had 19 sort of golden carrot in conversation is definitely the best because it just gives you the most saturation but in normal gameplay but that is not important in my opinion steak or pork chop is actually better

Of course at some point you want to automate your food productions you don’t need to harvest crops manually all the time as you could make a automatic sweet berry farm or kelp farm or automatic melon farm like this one here but yeah eating melons is tedious so

Might wanna even go to the next here and make something like for example automatic chicken cooker or you could make a villager farm in order to get potatoes and yeah cook them or make a villager farm to get wheat and craft bread out of it those are all the options having a

Medium food group then a bit better than food and neck group is something like cooked salmon and mutton in sky block it’s quite easy to make a salmon farm enormous survival it’s a bit tedious you would need to find a river biome make sure that squid and fish can’t spawn elsewhere

And it’s also possible to automate the best food in the game but that’s quite tedious what most people would do in order to get some steak and leather would be to make a little wheat field put some cows in an enclosure breed them so get baby cows wait 20 minutes until they’re grown

Up and then reduce their population again so that’s quite some effort and also wouldn’t supply you with insane amounts of stakes since you have to wait until the baby cows are grown up there are ways to automate the breeding process for example you could put the cows in a closed loop water stream

Have an afk player supply them with wheat so they start breeding sort out the baby cows somehow put them in a separate chamber once they’re fully grown up they’ve for example killed balawa and would drop stake in leather but that still requires an afk player isn’t super convenient

It’s also not that fast there’s actually a way in the game how you could automate steak or pork chop production you could use the natural spawning algorithm of animals so everybody that ever opened an empty world might have noticed that after 20 seconds first animals would spawn

After that first batch of animals has spawned you won’t see them spawning anymore because the mob cap is filled up like the hostile spawning algorithm there’s a mob cap and for animals that cap is just ten so in case you have more than ten animals loaded in your world no

More new animals would spawn so i would need to kill yeah at least 105 animals now to get more mob spawning again so in case you want to make a fully automatic steak a pork chop form it is based on animal spawning you have to put

In a lot of effort before you can actually start your form in a normal survival world because what you need to do is actually remove every single animal inside of your spawn chunks and also prevent that new animals could spawn there so this would be a 23 by 23

Chunk area where you have to completely remove every single grass block animals usually can spawn on grass some of them like the rabbit in the desert biome can also spawn and sand so you would also need to remove sand there if you have some desert all right so this would be

Yeah i’m gonna just replace the grass block of gold now just to show you the area you need to manually remove every single grass block in so once you’re done with that you probably also want to prevent new grass from spreading from the outside so dig a trench around and also prevent

New animals from wandering in so make a fence around that area and then kill every single animal you can find inside of the spawn chunks so this would also include uh bees for example you need to kill everything so just killed sixteen hundred entities it’s quite a lot of animals that are

Usually inside of your spawn chunks once you have prepared the spawn area now it’s time to prepare the area for actual farm so you need to completely remove every single grass block and every single animal in render distance again and then you can build your farm it’s the easiest to find something like

A mushroom island biome or a platinum spirum this is on an island because animals don’t spawn in the ocean biome so that’s why you also couldn’t build for example a spawning based farm just on top of the ocean so here this would be a suitable area

Plain spirum they will get pig and cow spawning can completely remove every single grass block and kill all the animals again and then build the farm on our 1×12 survival route we’ve actually done that we removed every single grass block and every single animal inside of

The spawn chunks so we’re able to build a mushroom cow form we had a bit of a mushroom island in our spawn area and this was our first mushroom farm that supplied us with steak so the idea was back when it was still working the cows would spawn

In mycelium get flushed over and would be killed by lava at the bottom and then that steak was just stored at spawn it took us about one year to actually complete this firm before we’ve been mostly eating baked potatoes so in a way a farm that would fully

Automatically supply you with steak or cooked pork chop the best foods in the game was one of the ultimate goals for every server but here comes the 1.16 hogland farm that allows you to do that within 90 minutes we actually tried it out methods and i we started a fresh

Game and our goal was to build a hogland farm as quickly as possible took methods 45 minutes to gather all the materials and go on top of the nether and then build the farm for me i didn’t have the best seat it took me about 65 minutes to get there didn’t

Actually build the farm but this would have been a matter of 30 minutes after that a lot of people in the comments of the holgen farm video actually have doubted it’s an early game form just want to recreate the steps it takes to build such a form so we start in the world

First thing i’m gonna do is kill some animals to get food so you can survive and then we’re gonna start chopping down trees so you need about a stack or a second and a half for the farms you need a yeah quite a lot of trapdoors the next thing you want

To do is go underground and start mining some coal to smelt your food and later you also need about 48 torches um for the farm then you also want to mine some iron because you need about a stack of iron for the hoppers for a minecart they need to get on top

Of the nezer and you also need one iron for flint and steel to light a portal and three iron to get a bucket for the lava the next thing you do is go even deeper and search for diamond since you need a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian

Who need obsidian in order to make a portal to go back to the overhead from the top of the nether of course so you need three iron and you can use a bucket and some lava and start mining that make a portal to get to the nether and we will continue

There so i arrived in the netherlands another thing you can already do in the world is prepare yourself for a piglen attacks so you get a piece of golden boots so the piglets are already friendly towards you then the only thing you need from the nezer is actually two

Of those warped fungi for the farm so we’re going to collect those and then start digging up to get to the top of the nezer once you’re at the top of the nether you want to dig around a little bit and search for a suitable location

To get to the top of the nester so what we’re looking for is a bedrock block at the third layer the fourth layer is an air block fifth layer so of course a bedrock there’s always 100 chance to have a bedrock there all right now we want to place down a

Rail like this so the minecart doesn’t roll off place down a minecart and get a boat and then we just want to get into the boat i’m up a little bit and try to place the boat on top of the bedrock so this is a bit tricky

Already did it boat is now on top of the bedrock now we just need to get into my code again and start clicking and try to get into the boat on top of the bedrock so there we go first try on top of the nezer now

Once you’re at the top of the nest you want to get away from your initial portal a little bit so i can make a second portal at the top that you can yeah link up with the overworld easily so that’s why i need to bring ten

Obsidian with you it’s a flint and steel so we can go back to the overheads and the portal from the overheads will link up the portal on top of the nether now this is going to change the reason version i think it could change 1.15 now we have a permanent connection to

The top of the nezer okay the next thing you want to do search for crimson forest biome could i either use f3 or you can just search for the crimson trees it would generate on top all that’s left to do now is built a farm that is made of easy to get

Components all the materials should be obtainable within 30 minutes of mining can probably even make a smaller version of this farms instead of having the long dropped shoot and lava here at the top can probably also just put down some campfires uh and kill the hoglands this

Way but you won’t get the cooked pork chop by using campfires an alternative would be maybe to place down nezerack at the bottom and stick some hopper minecarts in there and put fire on top so you could also get a cooked pork chop and then you can get a can get

Rid of the long dropped shoot you also maybe can only build a single sporting platform and you would still get around 500 pork chop power i would estimate that effort it takes to build a farm that would supply you fully automatically with the best food source

In the game was reduced by at least 99 percent tradition of the hoglin it makes the hoglet form extra appears that it requires a minimal amount of spawning spaces because the hogland spawns with the hostile mobs and the spawn algorithm tries to spawn the hostile mobs every

Single tick instead of every 400 tick so the hostel mob spawning in case the hoglands is around 400 times faster personally i don’t care much that the hogland farm is op because in my opinion the whole food situation in vanilla minecraft is uninteresting and broken anyway almost every new update we get

New redundant food types like the beetroot or the sweet berries that after one hour of playing the game are just not interesting anymore before i enter video when i briefly discuss how the hoglin farm could be nerfed in order to get the balance a bit back so instead of spawning the hoglands with

The hostile mobs i would suggest to spawn them with the passive mobs and only every 400 ticks that still wouldn’t prevent that we could make easy forms on top of the nezer so i would also suggest to expand the nasa up to 256 and then the effort to make a good

Hoagland form would be around the same as it would be to make a good mushroom farm and over world so this will completely nerf the situation for the casual player i don’t think it would change much because at the moment there’s a balance between the piglens and the hoglands

They have their own little ecosystem where piglets hunt the hoglands i don’t think it would actually be disturbed much if they would spawn every 400 ticks instead another option would maybe to change the loot table again the hoglands could drop something else instead so lately there

Was this trend in the game that animals would drop the food they eat like the polar bear drops fish or the turtle would drop seaweed so maybe those hawklins could eat the crimson mushroom and drop that instead this would also be interesting from a tree farm perspective

Since at the moment you can only get the mushroom via piglet trading and in case the exploit with the scamming gets fixed the amount of mushrooms can get this way is kind of limited or fungi how they’re called so this was my opinion on the hogland farms
