Epic Cave Starter House in Hardcore Minecraft | Episode 1 (1.18 Let’s Play)

Collecting some stuff it’s not i don’t need the emeralds you know i’m just trying to get a little bit of a base going here you know a base of materials certain things i feel like i’m going to need as far as the hay bales go i’ll probably

Get those as well just so we can have some starter bread i see a pillager outpost but with no armor and absolutely nothing to my name i don’t think that’s a great idea yet but that may be a good idea that abandoned portal over there now i don’t know how much caving we’re

Gonna do this episode but i’m gonna try to get a good start going i just need to find a tree which i’m sure i’ve missed a tree okay there’s a tree and i think i missed a ton of trees in the village but let me get some wood we’ll get some

Starter stuff going we’ll kill some cows kill some pigs get some food and yeah i’m liking this world so far it’s pretty flat which is you know inspiring me to explore which is a good thing okay so i made my first crafting bench pretty extreme i know

Um so one thing about my channel that i find you know just from my own observations as i do not edit videos as much as i probably should um but it ends up being a more laid back kind of long play style where you get to

See more stuff i never really show any boring or grindy things i just i personally feel okay i’m gonna make this too i personally and this is a personal view i’m not saying this makes content bad i feel like most creators nowadays in my sphere edit way too much

And uh i’m not saying that their videos are worse or mine are better i’m just saying in my opinion they edit too much now their video quality is you know better i guess because they edit more but i don’t think that only showing the very good stuff is a good you know

Method at least for me you know and everyone’s different and you know with no hate on them i’m just saying if this you know sounds good to you then good uh but if it doesn’t i want to tell you up front that i probably will end this

House with me or in this episode with maybe a starter house we probably will still be on stone tools like i’m i play the game slow i enjoy this stuff and since minecraft has been updated i really want to enjoy this stuff so we’re gonna do a good bit of exploring but you

Know this is not something i’ll film where i’m just like okay i’m gonna run you know what i mean like i’m not just going to run and like run for like 10 minutes and talk um i’ll like run off camera i find something cool i’m like

Hey guys look at this it’s pretty cool you’ll be like okay cool and then on to the next i guess but just a little heads up before you get invested in the series because i ended my 1.17 hardcore survival let’s play earlier than i wanted to but again that was only because 1.18

Came out like i was still enjoying that world but alas you know the update came out and i wanted to join the 1.18 bandwagon because first of all there’s a lot of people are interested in it including myself and i wanted to see it so there’s that out of the way wow

That’s a big old flat plains that is absolutely a massive massive planes wow the new terrain generation it it does something special and it’s leaving that feeling in my stomach like the first time you play minecraft because oh boy this is more new to me than minecraft has been in 10 years

Okay i was gonna cut to that uh what is that abandoned nether portal over there but then i saw this hole and holy crap this is a big hole oh my gosh okay i thought that was emeralds i don’t know why that doesn’t look anything like emeralds oh dude

I hear a spider that just makes me uncomfortable i’m not gonna go in something like this yet i just i can’t bring myself to do that i i feel like that is an utter horrible idea because i would end up dead for sure and i don’t even have coal

Like look it’s telling me congratulations you got coal and like that’s something that uh i should probably have seen at least 30 minutes prior to entering a cave like this we’ll put it that way because i’m not go at it there so i do know that copper now drops a bunch more

I don’t know if you can mine it with wood it looks like you can’t but copper actually gives you more now than it used to like it’s like three to eight copper per which means if you were to have fortune three i think you can get up to

Like 24 copper per or correct me if i’m wrong but that’s crazy that’s crazy okay i just wanted to get enough stuff to where we at least have a little bit of a base as far as cobblestone goes like a base of resources i don’t want to end up

Where i’m like on a mountain and i’m like man i wish i could make a furnace and i guess i could dig down but i don’t know we should at least get a little bit of cobble is a nice little uh nice little adventure into a very deep hole

That i should not enter yet because it’s too deep and dangerous um i don’t want to die i just don’t want to die i think the portal is literally right over here let’s let’s go check but i’m pretty sure it’s close enough or i don’t really need to like stop the

Camera now i already have a bed which is nice um and i have a good bit of food like i’m not really worried about food for right now which is good i don’t want to you know worry about that early game because i feel like that’s something

That’s okay we will go to the pillar drought post because it’s exciting and i want i want to see if i can do it with a wooden sword i may regret this um yeah i may regret this but it’s okay hopefully we get a chest plate of any

I’ll be completely honest i do not need that should we go to the nether like right now no and i don’t need the fire charge i will take that and nah we don’t need that now the gold i don’t have a way to get

It so i’m not going to get it but i have found out that in 1.18 gold is extremely common i mean absolutely insane every ore is so common like it’s super easy for me to get diamonds and i don’t usually get diamonds to like the second

Week so each episode is about 30 minutes usually sometimes i make them an hour sometimes two hours even but i try to upload wow there’s like no pillagers out here i’m gonna start running here uh while i’m talking but there’s three episodes per week so every friday saturday and sunday usually

Done i i don’t know so if you guys know me i’m a big proponent of how salmon is an early game food really good early game food we might have a lot of wheat but you know can’t hurt to have a little protein in your diet i think it’s a very

Good idea to you know mix those two things together because now just i did that for maybe like a minute maybe a minute if that and we got 10 fish so that’s pretty good now i do not think the golden armor is useful this would be a really good horse

So we’re just gonna put oh that’s right you can’t just do that and there’s another dude there’s so many villages in this update let’s go up there let’s find out if we can do that actually wow dude going up this is it seemed a lot less tall uh than it ended

Up being i’m sorry for the lag spikes 1.18 just is not great on performance but i also have a huge render distance on for java so let’s turn the simulation up to you know 24 24 chunks that may wreck my fps which is fine yeah it did wreck it let’s see i can’t

Even see the entities is your entity draw distance no okay never mind i think it was on 12 i think that’s how it was set okay i’m gonna make an iron axe because i feel like oh yeah that’s right our crafting bench got lost in that uh storm

Of running away and almost dying which was very intelligent you know a very good decision on my part very very good decision to go rate a pillager outpost wooden tools in the uh golden helmet and boots which i think we actually got the helmet while we were in there i don’t know but

I’m gonna get a bunch of wood i know the iron you know i could have made a sword could have made a pick you can argue about it all you want in the comments or whatever you know and i’ll read the comment of you arguing with me

And i won’t respond but i’ll leave a heart to show i’ve read it i do respond sometimes but most of the time i don’t there’s just too many um i used to actually reply to every single comment if you can believe it or not for like six or seven months

That wore me down mentally like severely and i had to quit i was like i can’t do this anymore i just gave up one day but yeah let me collect but yeah let me collect a bunch of wood and then i’ll come back sorry for uh being interrupted by this rude tree

Um yeah i’m just gonna collect like i don’t know almost all of this wooden axe just full of wood so i want to get a starter base going like halfway through it and uh i i want to find a good place actually first so i’m gonna do some exploring off camera hopefully we’ll

Find something pretty cool i assume we will i don’t know okay i don’t know how far i’m willing to venture i will leave it at 30 wood for now we can always get more wood let’s just go up here and i’ll look around and then i’ll be like okay i’m gonna go

This direction and then i’ll go where i was looking and then i’ll do it again and that way it’ll be exploring but not boring to watch okay i will go to the shipwreck because there is some good loot in those but i want to get on top of this big tree right here

And uh see if there’s something maybe over here just more uh oak forest beautiful oak forest i’ll add oh there’s a little bit of spruce over there okay let me go to uh that point i’m gonna end up like right there then i’m gonna come back watch this There we go guys from here to there in no time at all i actually ended up making a leather chest plate got a few more cows in the bank i’ve got 15 beef now we ran out of our golden sword though it’s dead so let’s see what’s in here hopefully

Loot abound okay more emeralds i’m happy about the iron i don’t need lapis you can get lapis very easily now uh so many of the ores like gold and lapis i just feel are so common even diamonds now they’ve like devalued the value of diamonds man so if you invested

In diamonds 1.18 is gonna ruin your returns absolutely ruin them wow that’s not great it’s not it’s not terrible it’s not great but that’s okay all right well that’s that uh i like that little area over there uh but i really want to build on a cliff at least

For my starter house and then i think we’ll transition underground at some point so i’m gonna do a lot of exploring now i’m gonna find something i think is suitable for our starter house it’s gonna be on a cliff uh if i come back

And i have like 10 bread left you can be assured i’ve run like a bunch of blocks here my starting coordinates and here are my ending coordinates so i didn’t go that far as you can see i kind of went in a circle but then i

Saw this in the distance and i saw the lava and i saw the dark oak and then a mishmash of this biome and it just hit me this is gonna be our home at least above ground i see some crazy terrain over there so i haven’t really looked at it

Yet you know so this isn’t a no this is a for sure thing i can just tell you based on that i already have so much inspiration for a starter house like just way too much so let’s go over here oh this just reminds me of minecraft alpha and beta

Generation it really does and that makes me so happy you know as someone who started around that time i feel like the charm of minecraft’s generation was kind of lost um with the new or sorry with the old terrain gen now oh yeah dude that is incredible cool

Um is there anything over here it looks nice no not really so let’s swim around this thing which is a beautiful thing i think this thing’s surrounded by water i just like the flat cliff face i know this is the caves and cliffs update so you got to remember the cliffs part

But i think we can do something really really cool with that i think at least let’s go over here i think this is one of those oh no this is a filled ravine that’s uh that’s interesting is this a filled ravine though yeah it looks like it is it’s kind of cool though

Okay let’s uh grab our boat gotta wait for the axe to charge up and then let’s go check this out from the land side of things i really like the front where those biomes collided so i’m gonna probably okay you know what bad idea bye bye okay i just i don’t

To make it fun i’m gonna try to enjoy this because i have oh like an old base design that i saw my brother use i have used he may have used it at first but i used to watch my brother play minecraft a lot i used to watch my

Brother play a lot of video games growing up but enough about me let me go over here and grab just a bunch of sand because this already looks like a bad beach so we can just make it look a lot better it’s like all square it’s not flat at all so let’s

Turn this bad beach into a good one look at that see now it’s no longer square and it looks like it fits with the terrain a lot better aside from maybe this right here there you go see if you’re ever in your world and you’re like man this looks bad

Fix it make it look good because you might end up seeing it again and be like oh yeah i remember the day i fixed that it was a good day i made something better look at this though lava and water fire and ice kind of not

I guess not ice but you get the point i think that’s kind of cool not something you see every day in a world i feel like that’s the marker that this should be my area to build in now hopefully i can find one of those trees and i know

You’re like neo what are you talking one of those trees the azalea trees so that we can find a lush cave if we can’t find any i didn’t see one on the way here so i do know where that is i think i didn’t record the footage but i can kind of

Find it i guess i don’t know let me get a bunch of sand i’m trying to get at least three stacks or at least one iron shovels worth of sand i think i can craft another one actually yeah well i come back and it’s raining

That’s okay i like the rain i think it’s good especially when you turn the rain sounds down it’s not a bad thing so this is all the sand we ended up with a good bit of sand i’ve also got two stacks of oak logs now everything is right we’re gonna do this

And i think this is gonna be i think this is gonna be my favorite hardcore world ever honestly just judging by this i don’t even need to go to the front remember because we can just go to the back through the front or wait no that is the front okay never

Mind i thought it was closer to the other thing is there something here can we can we go in here okay can we fall okay no is there something in there no okay that wouldn’t have been worth our time anyways so i need to set up

Somewhat of like a home base area thingy i’m not gonna like build anything quite yet because i need to get some materials first like glass um and then probably planks but good thing is we can just kind of go in here put a couple of torches down

Easy peasy lemon squeezy look at that now we got a little area and then of course we can just plop a crafting table down the first block of our base am i dreaming this seriously looks like alpha generation absolutely incredible i don’t have my own furnace i’m gonna make

Two furnaces but i’m gonna make one into a smoker uh because i think having a smoker early game is good cooks food way quicker um i’ve noticed i mean obviously that’s the point of it but it does it a lot quicker than you’d think i am going to make an

Iron shovel because we’re going to need to do a bit of terraforming in here i’m not going to change a whole lot i am going to change a little bit though um but i have a really good idea for this base so it’s kind of like if you

Guys remember way back kind of like what dogs cast did sort of except different it’s not like what yogscast did but it’s in the same sort of like area i guess and this is so cool because there’s water in it usually these overhangs aren’t like filled with water

Um so i’m actually really kind of excited to see how this looks so i’m going to terraform the front a little bit it’ll give us some dirt as well which i think we’ll need a little bit of not a whole ton but a little bit can’t hurt for sure there we go

And then i’ll keep that tree for now i don’t know how much of it like the front it really blocks so it doesn’t really matter and i need to figure out the block i want to put the glass on so we’re going to do this block right here

So i’ll mark it with uh something that’s good to mark with like a log i don’t usually just throw those on the ground randomly but i want to add a little bit of land for us to walk around over here so that’s why i grabbed a bunch of dirt

On that and to make the area look a little bit better in my opinion but we can make a bigger area for us to be in at least for right now we can kind of remove it as we need it because i’m going to be putting some

Uh stuff down here as floor material as long as you curve it with it it’ll kind of look natural anyways and let’s sleep the first night in our new base ah it’s a good day guys it’s a good day i’m so excited to finally be at 1.18

Let’s put down our furnace let’s grab our steak the superior food and before we craft any of this stuff let’s make sure we can at least get a few chests because i’m not i’m i’m not i’m not doing this thing where i i can’t ever do anything because i don’t have

Any chest space so we’re going to start off with a good bit of chest and that was a it was a failure on my part and if we can craft another furnace we can’t we’re gonna throw in a stack of this and we’re gonna have to do a stack at a time now

We don’t have anything that’s a big that’s a big problem we don’t we literally don’t have anything so we’re gonna go and get some stuff now we’ll probably finish the base at the end of the episode um again i’m not trying to rush anything make anything too quick i’m going to replace this

Little log though with a um piece of glass because that’s where the glass is going to go i’m going to go mine some stone actually we don’t even have a we don’t have a stone pickaxe yet we’re still on the stone life or sorry the wood life we’re not even on the stone

Life yet but now we’re about to be okay so we don’t need that anymore we don’t need that anymore hopefully they disappear before we come back and we’ll put up some of the old stuff we don’t need just trying to think everything that i can just kind of put up here

Okay now the boat might be cool because we could kind of go around here and uh just kind of drive through our base which is kind of nice i’m just trying to see i see some coal over there i don’t want to mine coal um unless it’s actually like under the

Ground so i was gonna go over here and we can light this up a little bit as well since this is in our base now i wanted to check out is there any coal down here or because this wasn’t all underwater there was some over here and there might

Have been something i missed some copper well that’s good you know copper is cool and all but i really need i really need some coal okay okay maybe if we go down here right and then do wow okay this is above the water oh wow is this another layer of like air down

Here i seriously might think there might be another layer of air down here like a whole other like system in here and that’s perfect so i can just use a little bit of wooden planks and we can make ourselves a little bit of a mining area look at that

And we’ll kind of connect it to the wall over here just make it look nice make it look somewhat natural i know it’s not natural but at least something that i can stand behind to be like yeah i didn’t just randomly put some stuff down then we can even support it on the

Variety of blocks to get texture uh we’re next to some really cool biomes that have a lot of mossy cobble so i’m going to run and i’m going to grab some mossy cobblestone and we’re going to make this bad boy look good now this stuff is all kind of temporary we’re

Done with the glass on the front at least so we’re going to take away the furnaces for now this is not how everything’s going to be laid out again this is just kind of a temporary deal i’ll probably keep the the chest there i i know there’s stuff

In one of them but let’s just go ahead and remove the rest of the chest because i don’t like where they really are currently um because you know i want to use the whole build i don’t just want to have like nothing in here and then i don’t

Know if we need to support in here because it’s kind of naturally supported so we can just kind of build a little central central a little central area and for example our bed could be right here and then around our bed we could do something

Cool we could put like a i don’t know a little something that makes it feel special instead of just having a regular bed we could take some slabs we could just slap it up a little bit look at that we even put the bed up one if we wanted to

But maybe this will have a little bit of extra special feel to it i don’t i really don’t know where to go with it but i think you guys can kind of get the point we’re gonna have some fun with it let me design something here

There we go just just something to look at something you know different than your regular just little i don’t know i don’t know whatever you’d call it and then you know if we want to do some cool chest storage there’s a variety of ways to actually do that

Um i need some more so we’re going to put a crafting table down we’re going to put a smoker right over we do the smoker right here and then of course we can do some furnaces around it and we can make a little section of furnaces just like this

And then break this all i’m trying to say is that we don’t have to do things all the same way every time we can do a variety of things in a variety of ways and let’s see how dark this thing is when it isn’t light outside so that we know where to put

More torches obviously we need a door we should probably craft that before we craft anything else here we need to get a door going oh no oh no i should don’t have enough wood crafted jeez dude you’d think after this long it’d be like instantly yeah we don’t have enough wood but nope

And then we’re literally just gonna put a torch on a stick nice so i totally shouldn’t waste the wood on this but i’m going to go ahead and i’m going to do it because why not i want to make the world look good so we’re going to go over here we’re

Going to wrap these chests some oak trap doors and uh you know it makes them only accessible from the front but at least you know what they are and you can just kind of grab them you know what i mean it’s kind of cool so we’re going to put

Blocks into here because we don’t have that much stuff right like we we don’t need like some very fancy chest sorting yet we just need a basically a place for blocks and a place for items so everything that is a block i’m just going to put in here

But then you know stuff like this obviously is kind of a building block as well and then everything that is an item i will put it in here yes i know the base looks kind of whack right now we’re gonna go fix that uh before i end the series that’s something i have

It’s not what i thought it was called but that’s okay so we’re just gonna take a bunch of these little uh mossy cobble bits because i think they look really cool and it still blows my mind that mossy cobblestone just spawns randomly on the ground i think that is so awesome

Because back in the old alpha and beta days mossy cobblestone was only obtained through dungeons making it one of the rarest blocks in the game so when my brother filled his base with mossy cobblestone um and he literally filled all the walls of mozzie cobblestone i’m

Just going to texture some in um that was an impressive feat even by today’s standards you know it still looks good but that was even more impressive back then i’m going gonna get some mossy and then probably some wood so i’m having my minecraft avatar you know that little

Yeah as far as what i’m planning on doing now i’m going to add like a layer i’m going to remove that glass up there i’m going to add some supports just to kind of make it look a little bit different i’m not going to like ruin the

Vibe you know the old school vibe or whatever but i want to add a little bit of something to it and i don’t know the space in between these but that’s okay we’re just gonna we’re just gonna basically yolo it and hope it works that’s a pretty much the current plan
