There are unsettling rumblings in the mountains of the overworld whispered rumors say the illegals are building something dreadful far beneath these ancient mines something of soot metal and flame only a hero such as yourself could brave the cavernous underground and uncover the truth hello again i am blunty so yesterday i Farted out another classic maximum effort blunty youtube digital delivery streaming video entertainment information blast piece about minecraft dungeons either that or i quickly slammed together a video answering the most commonly asked question i got while streaming minecraft dungeons on day one so i could just point to the video instead of answering It fresh every single damn time someone asked me about it damn it is the switch version good the answer is yes but but within that video i will tell you while you slap down a sub a bell of thumb and start preparing a glorious quarantine insanity field comment I also mentioned that as far as minecraft is concerned 1080p 1440p and 4k are all basically meaningless and i applied this logic to minecraft dungeons too in the context of wishing they’d sacrificed a bit more resolution on the switch version in order to nail down a locked 30 fps Instead of the herky-jerky not quite always 30fps it drunkenly eats into my eyeballs as i try and play it there i mean with a game designed around cubic meter voxels and 8-bit stylized flat textures it really can’t matter right i’ve shown this in minecraft videos before more than once even when you’re going Full tilt rtx ray tracing berserk 1080p versus 1440p versus 4k it won’t make a visually significant difference outside of tanking performance props again to the industrial magic of nvidia’s dls’s 2.0 stuff i’ll link to the videos of that down below if you don’t believe the kind of ridiculous technological wizardry They’re doing over there at team green but what of minecraft dungeons its visual style is of course heavily influenced by vanilla minecraft prime it also takes some obvious liberties with that graphical style as well so this morning i put myself to work selflessly forcing myself to play another couple of hours of this Ridiculously fun game at various resolutions to see and indeed show what the game looks like side by side with itself at everything from 720p all the way to 4k and of course you are seeing it for yourself you may have noticed by now if your eye’s on with the video and not Just ears on and why wouldn’t you be eyes on it’s a video about a video game where comparing resolutions you really should be looking and listening right could you tell which was which before i slammed up some handy dandy labels i mean we’re also dealing with youtube compression of course which doesn’t help Matters much in videos like this plus whatever the size and resolution of the screen you’re watching on and i know a little over half of you watch on your mobile phone for instance that can’t be helping madison and even if you’re being served at the 4k version or if you’re Watching it at full quality or one of the automatically created low resolutions lots of variables is what i’m saying but i from my first hand point of view can tell you this much with the exception of 720p which on the 4k and 1440p monitors i was testing on and i tested On both because not all the resolutions i tested would divide or scale tiredly to one or the other but even though 720p was a bit fuzzy once you’re in the action of the game it’s actually not that easy to notice you kind of just get absorbed by the wonderful flow of this game But for my money i’d rather start at 1080p i mean do we above that though i’m not even convinced i could instantly tell the difference without pixel peeping while standing still in a safe zone if someone else like changed the resolution while i wasn’t watching and said hey Look at this what resolution is this i have to squint in fact while putting this video together a style of side by side comparison video i’ve done many many times for both video games and camera comparisons i had to repeatedly double check the source file resolutions to make sure i was Labeling the right clip with the right resolution at the right time and i can’t tell you it was pretty damn tricky to tell which was which while editing but as always you can make your own call and out of interest plop a wad of text in the down below Could you tell the difference before i label them and also let me know what resolution you are playing at both what resolution you have in the game render at so it performs nicely on your machine and what hardware you’re playing it on so pc or console and what your screen Size is and how far away from the screen you’re sitting because all these things contribute i mean all of these tests again were done on a 4k and 1440p screens as i mentioned before the 1440p screen is a 27 inch panel the 4k is a 28 inch and yeah above 1080p on either Panel actually especially in the middle of gameplay i’d be hard pressed to tell you what the render resolution what the native render resolution even was and i can usually tell pretty easily especially when i’m sitting here at my desk where my eyeball to screen distance is anywhere from 90 to 130 centimeters Depending on if i’m in leaned back mood baby so yeah let me know how you’re doing at your end you’re right having fun i’m having fun with it thanks for watching i hope you found this interesting perhaps even useful and do try not to weaponize it in a Reddit thread or something take the high road telling reddit is to take the high road i’ve gone mental as always super duper special moist thanks to my patrons as they scroll by at the end of this video and i will catch you next time Are building a dreadful forge
