Hermitcraft 9: Episode 21 – CREEPER SURPRISE

We are back on the Hermitcraft server today and we are going to pick up right where we left off last episode. I do hope that you watched until the end of last episode otherwise you might be quite lost. If you didn’t, we trained a frog called Champ and he died quite quickly. [laughs]

And that was a result of generated content using probably one of the most scary machines on this server. No, it’s not even Grumbot. No I mean, he is kind- He is scary. He says things that upset me. No, it’s this machine the content generator which could go anyway whatsoever.

But it hasn’t led us astray just yet. What have we got? We have got “Creeper, Scar, Bait”. Well that one’s pretty straight forward. That’s probably one of the straight forward ones we’ve had so far. “Creeper, Scar, Bait” Bait creeper into Scar. Easy. Of course we’re going to have to wait for our

GoodTimesWithScar to get online and get ourselves a creeper. Unless we bait Scar to the creeper. instead of creeper to the Scar You gotta think outside the box with the Grumbot generator. So while we wait for Scar to get online, let’s head over to the shopping district

Where I’m hoping we have a bit more profit. Yeah what do we- [sighs] What do we do with these royal emeralds? They clearly hold no value whatsoever. We haven’t got any- We haven’t had any sales. Oh my goodness, no there’s a lot of royal emeralds. Oh man we’re being- Oh no! 12… 16…

Oh come on! How many royal emeralds are there? Oh my- There’s just no diamonds. There’s just- No one is using diamonds anymore. What?! Oh okay, this… This is excessive. 52 diamonds we’ve been done out off here. 52 diamonds been exchanged for royal emeralds. How do we deal with this? [laughs] What is this?

“Thou shalt not party” He’s putting the rules on big billboards. And there’s- Oh wow okay. They’re really nice. There’s some seahorses in front of the castle now. I mean the crastle! Well if Ren is gonna – or Bdubs – is going to put the rules just on billboards,

There’s no law against making billboards. So yeah, I’m immediately seeing a loophole here. But we’re gonna have to deal with the king’s royal emerald shenanigan now. And we can’t even exchange them for the diamonds on the statue because last episode we found out it’s all gone.

We’re just- we’re just giving up on the currency. We’re just giving up on the currency. Hang on does Ren- Ren has shops. Ren has shops. I mean, can I just do the same thing? What’s stopping me just calling this a “Grian Orb”? I’m buying some much needed warped stem from Ren’s shop here.

I mean two can play all of these games, I’m pretty sure. You know, Ren is making it increasingly difficult not to start a resistance but I [sighs] well I said, I’m not gonna do it. I think my king problems are gonna have to wait because I genuinely, I don’t real-

I think I might have been check mated or I’m at least in check here because I- What do I do with these? There’s no diamonds to exchange them for. Do I just go- I don’t want to use them because then I’m a hypocrite. What do I do? I need to think on this.

And while I’m thinking on it, why don’t we turn our attention to building on our very lovely base but I actually took a step back last episode by removing some of the work I’d already done because I got to re-texture it. Well, I’ve got the design all ready to go,

Let’s make some quite significant progress on this lovely build. Let’s go! [MUSIC] There we go, what do you think of this addition here? The only sort of self-criticism that I have about this is that I’ve gone for sort of very circular buildings, domes and then this bit over here

Is square and I’m not quite sure they connect up perfectly however apart from that, I think this looks really good. I’m pretty happy with how the texture’s come out. It’s lit up despite being overshadowed by the- well this rock has become more of a safe space than anything at the moment.

I’ve had to stop here because basically I’m at the stage where we might be ready to move on to the medieval portion of the base building. And it’s gonna take a bit more planning to get that done. At the back I plan on adding a tower here and then a bridge over there

And maybe a waterfall that goes along here. And then once that’s sort of connected up, this portion of the sort of Neo-classical style will be complete! This is genuinely one of the first times I’ve used one of the glazed terracotta blocks in one of my builds.

And this works so well because it’s got the white and the sort of the cyan which matches my pallet so, so well. So let me know what you think of this and finally, Scar over here will have something to look at than the really weird side profile of the rocks. Look at that!

You no longer focus on the weird angle of the floating rocks, it actually works as something to look at. Speaking of Scar and a bit of server news, he has been organizing, or is organizing, a charity event and it involves a load of minigames that are somewhere over yonder in that direction.

I haven’t had a chance to go and visit it yet. And loads of people are making minigames. Now I don’t know if I’m going to contribute a minigame but I can definitely turn up and play some minigames and have a bunch of fun. I did have a game in mind

But I literally don’t know if I have time to make it. It’s a floor to ceiling elytra drop game because with sculk sensors, right? So what you can do because you can light up redstone. Imagine a big old tube that goes from the top all the way to bedrock, right?

And when you crash into any part of it, there’ll be sculk sensors all along the tube. And it picks up when you crash and die and then in lights up and that dictates how many points you get. But a floor to ceiling tube is er… an extortionate amount of work so I-

I’ll see if I have time to contribute it. I think this could be a very fun project maybe if it’s just even later in the season. But it might look something like this where you fly down the tube, and you gotta dodge and weave and go through all the little bits

And it’ll be incredibly difficult because you might have to go down some really narrow caves like this and go down- AH! Oh no no no no no no no! Oohh I did not know there was charged creepers down here. Has that done some damage? Oh there’s been charged creepers hanging around

And I thought I’d got rid of them all. Okay, stuff there, another charged creeper there. Hey. We need a creeper. I think we just found our creeper for our content. Okay, the clock is ticking to try and get my stuff back. Charged creeper there. What do I do?

Right, I need to get this charged creeper out. First and foremost. Yeap there he is! There he is! Oooh! Oh they’re more terrifying with the animations! Away from the entrance. And then get back in there without aggro-ing him. Please don’t despawn. Okay, okay okay. Crisis averted. For now.

Oh my goodness, I’m like- I nearly had a heart attack. fortunately not a lot of damage was done to my actual base. Where- Where is it? Where is it? Okay, we’ve only got one chance of this. This is the creeper we’re gonna bait Scar into. Come on fella.

No. Yeah we got him, we got him. I never thought these charged creepers would ever come in handy. They were just like chilling on my bridge just being a nuances and gonna blow up some stuff. And of course, this is going to be called This content was generated by Grumbot.

Yeah there it is, look. This content was generated by Grumbot. We’re gonna be playing with some serious fire now. So what I have in mind for baiting Scar into this creeper is quite simple. So over here we have Scar’s wonderful base that is a lot like a theme park.

He’s also playing the character of HotGuy which is- basically his superpower is to shoot people with his bow. So I thought what I’d do is create an assault course for HotGuy leading to a creeper. Although it is a little bit- It is a little bit choppy on the lag here.

I don’t know if you guys- Holy moly. It is a little bit choppy here. Like, I don’t know if you can kinda feel the lag but I can when I like turn around. Oh oo! Ooh! Yeah it- Ooh. Yeah, I wonder why it’s lagging when there’s a- Oh there’s another one over here!

He’s got big old- He’s actually organizing his stuff this season. Yeah it’s a little- [sighs] I really wanted to have the assault course go literally through main street I think it would look cool with this back drop. but I don’t know if I can do it with this lag.

[loud shrieker noise] Oh my goodness! Why didn’t he remove that? He left the shulker of doom under here. [loud shrieker noise] I just got spooked by my own prank. I think I really want to have the assault course here because look at this back drop.

And then if we have the charged creeper right here, there’s enough clearance here that it’s not gonna do too much damage and this is a pretty blast resistance box. So let’s do that. I’ve prepared a whole bunch of stuff for this. This should be really fun for Scar,

To be honest with you. I was thinking a dripstone parkour. We’re gonna make some target block characters for him to shoot. So as he’s jumping he can shoot down some characters, get some bings, maybe even get some note block action out of it. So he gets a shot in,

He gets a nice satisfying ba-ding and then at the end of this he’s gonna get a lovely creeper explosion. So let’s see if we can create this lovely obstacle course. Of course the content is generated by our good old buddy Grumbot. The dripstone parkour looks really cool and it’s actually surprisingly easy

Because even if you miss like you just land on the block here and then you can make your way up. So it’s pretty forgiving even if you miss, having said that I have just missed. Parkour! Parkour! Parkour! And then have him fall down a honey block tower

And let him shoot some stuff. This is gonna be really fun for Scar, I think. He loves this kind of stuff. It’s just the the ending is not gonna be too fun. So the plan is, he does the parkour up the dripstone and then he gets here, he jumps on the honey,

Fires at the target that’s gonna be mid-air there and then we’re onto the next section. So next, I’ve got a whole bunch of dispensers. Now we all know Scar loves to do, what he describes as a-dodging and a-weaving. So what I’d thought we’d do is power a bunch of dispensers

Holding arrows and he’s got to run through without getting hit. Okay so, that’s the dispenser part done. Now that’s not all. Not only has he got to do a dodging, he’s also got to weave. So I’m going to put some dripstones that are gonna fall

As he runs through this part of the course which then takes us to the finale where he wins. Okay, I think we’re ready. I’m gonna do a full test run of this before Scar gets online. Fortunately, he hasn’t turned up yet but if he did, we’re pretty much there except

Getting the creeper in place which, admittedly, is the most crucial and dangerous part of this. So we got the parkour, he can then go “ping!” you can just about make it and then you jump on the honey block and ping! Get down here.

Alright, then this is the big thing that needed testing time wise. You run through here, you get hit by a few if you don’t dodging and a-weaving. And then these start falling and that’s pretty dangerous. Nice! And then you’re into the finish line and you can

Decide to hit a few of these if you want. And then you get – yay! – fireworks. Okay, that works, the whole thing works. Now this is the final piece of the puzzle. This is where everything either goes very right or very wrong. so enter the HotGuy lair for your final task.

You’ll be very, very impressed with me. I’ve get some redstone, this is about as compact as it gets for me. Right, so you go in here. It says “Bow in barrel pls”. So it takes the HotGuy bow, puts it in here, it immediately brings up this block

And this one behind him so you’re stuck in here and even if he tried to turn around and escaped there’s not a lot he can do. And then the last thing to do is bring the creeper all the way here. So what I’m gonna do is make him follow me through here,

And I’m gonna place that there. It will then run over it and then get stuck with my superior redstone knowledge. So that’s the plan and if all goes well, we get out of here with a big explosion, a dead Scar and a message in chat that says “Content generated by Grumbot”.

[sighs] Okay, let’s go and get this creeper. I’m pretty prepared for this. Where is he? Come on you. Come on you. Right. Now if this goes off at any point, it’s a disaster but if it goes off in Scar’s base, it’s what’s known as a mega disaster. Come on you.

♫ Boop boop boop boop boop ♫ ♫ Ba-boop ba-boop bup bup bup ♫ ♫ bup ba-bup ba-bup bup bup bup ♫ ♫ bup ba-bup ba-bup bup bup bup ♫ Come on. I mean this can’t go too badly as long as I keep my eye on it.

We’re in a please now where if you explode, I’m gonna be furious. Oh forgot- forgot about this! Forgot about this! No no no! Ha ha! Ooh-kay. That could’ve been a disaster if he was killed by the arrows. Yeah! What? Okay. Okay. I don’t know how- I don’t know how you got out.

That didn’t make much sense. So let’s give this a test without going anywhere near it. So we put the block in, there we go. There’s only one block gap. That will do it. Okay, we are 100% ready, I just need to pu- Oh oh. Uh-oh uh-oh! That’s Scar’s cam account. Okay, we’re good.

Look at that, dripstone’s ready, dispensers all have enough in them. Alright Scar, you can get on now. Ah could you imagine if he’d just logged on that second? Scar? You can now log in. Oh my! It was slightly off. I was a couple of seconds off. [distant chatter] [GRIAN] Scar? [laughs]

[SCAR] I don’t know if you’re a record disc or a real Grian. [GRIAN] This is a recording of my voice. Just to let you know there’s a course for you directly above on main street. You stink of poo poo. [SCAR] I already went poo poo. [GRIAN] You’re a stinky poo poo head.

[SCAR laughs] [GRIAN] It wasn’t a recording, it was me. [SCAR] Ah! There he is. [GRIAN laughs] [SCAR] Ha, it’s mister poo poo head himself. [GRIAN] I don’t know how to make recordings. [SCAR laughs] [SCAR] I just give it to Tango, he does the magic. [GRIAN] Okay so- [SCAR] A HotGuy obstacle course?

[GRIAN] Yes, I generated content and this is what Grumbot wanted me to do which is to give you an obstacle course. [SCAR] Really? [GRIAN] Yes. [GRIAN] And what better way than to train HotGuy himself. So, I don’t wanna tell you too much but you’ve got to get to the other end

Of this and then there’s another section or two. Alright, are you ready? Three, two, one, obstacle course, go! What? Why?! [SCAR] Hot Guy! [GRIAN] Why? Now I can’t see you do it, I’m on fire. [SCAR laughs] [GRIAN] Right so parkour, your favourite, parkour!

[SCAR] Oof I didn’t know there’s multiple places to stand on dripstone. [GRIAN] Neither did I which makes it amazing. [SCAR] Ah! I gotta start over. [GRIAN] oh man. [SCAR] Do you know that parkour is one of my stronger suits right?

[GRIAN] Well this is a training, this is an obstacle course. This is gonna- [laughs] [SCAR] Okay, we’re working really well there, Grian. Woo-hoo boy. Oh man. [GRIAN laughs] [GRIAN] It’s pretty forgiving. [laughs] [SCAR] Oh yeah? Tell me more.

[SCAR] Tell me more about how forgiving it is. [GRIAN] This is why HotGuy flies. [SCAR] Take number 32, Grian. Boom. Jump. Bam. Precision. Accuracy. Dodge. Weave. Flex. Abs. Six-pack. Boom. Nine-pack. Twelve-pack. Sixteen-pack. Tom Cruise. Bam. [GRIAN] Don’t forget the targets. [SCAR] I never forget the targets. [SCAR] Bam. [GRIAN] Bam.

[SCAR] Keep my eye on the targets. [GRIAN] Bam. [SCAR] I missed this one. [SCAR] And I missed this one too. [GRIAN] No Scar stop! [GRIAN] I can’t see when I’m on fire. [SCAR laughs] [SCAR] Why are you the only one I can ever hit? [GRIAN] Right, now you slide down- Yes that’s it!

[SCAR] Bam! [SCAR] Come on! Come on! Yeah, there we go. [GRIAN] How cool was that? Okay right. [GRIAN] Wait wait wait. Dodge, weave, go! Okay run run run run run run run! [GRIAN] Dodging and weaving, dodging and weaving! [SCAR] Woo woo woo! [GRIAN] Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo!

[SCAR] Hoo hoo! Oh my gosh! Okay. [GRIAN] One, two, three, now over the finish line! [SCAR] Ah! HotGuy! [GRIAN] Yay! [SCAR] Enter the HotGuy lair for the final task. [GRIAN] The final task. Go inside. [GRIAN] Go inside. [SCAR] Place the HotGuy bow in the barrel.

[GRIAN] Yeah. [SCAR] Okay, okay. HotGuy bow in the barrel. [GRIAN] Turn around, Scar. [SCAR] Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! [GRIAN laughs] [GRIAN laughs] [GRIAN laughs] [SCAR] Oh you… Ah… [GRIAN] Oh that was so much effort and you didn’t even die. Well the creeper was supposed to kill you

Because I renamed it to “This content was generated by Grumbot” but I think because there was a stone layer between you, like it probably didn’t do enough damage. [SCAR] You know, reviewing the footage on the insta-replay it didn’t do a single bit of damage which is peculiar being a charged creeper.

[GRIAN] Yeah, I didn’t expect it to do nothing but oh well. The generated content was “Scar, Creeper, Bait”. So I baited you to the creeper. We’re all cleaned up and a little disappointed that we didn’t get the punch line that we wanted. Do you know what? I’m actually so curious

Because according to Scar he literally took zero damage from a charged creeper. That doesn’t sound right. I need to test this. Right, he only had two layers of protection IV on. A charged creeper in here. Zero damage! Zero. That one block completely protected from damage and all of the block destruction.

Maybe charged creepers just aren’t that strong. You know, this is the sort of thing that if my two braincells talked to each other, I might have tested and then I would’ve known. But [sighs] I could’ve dropped the creeper on him then. Ah you know what? That would’ve been way better.

I could’ve dropped- [sighs] See? When my two braincells have a conversation sometimes they have a good idea but most of the time, they’re just facing the walls in there, not listening. Okay, so let’s get one more thing done before we wrap up this episode. We’re gonna move all of these

Into the cave. I want a sheep farm and I’m gonna make one. But we need to get them all out of here. Okay. [laughs] Okay. Right, I’m not gonna make the same mistake that I made with Champ. We’re all going down together. i got a potion of slow falling. [laughs]

Look at the animation of these guys. [laughs] Oh my goodness, this is amazing. I’m losing all my sheep and this doesn’t last forever. I’m getting too caught up. Oh no. Oh why do I get so distracted? Come on. Right, into the hole we go. Into the hole! Yeah! This should work, right?

They’re all gonna fall down nicely. I bet I haven’t got all 16 here. I bet they’re still gonna die. [laughs] Ah. You know what? Two sheep is all I need! [laughs] Oh, even with slow falling, only a couple of them actually landed. You guys are going to make me a sheep farm.
