How To Get Mods from Different Versions in Minecraft (Forge & Fabric Mods!)

So you want to use forge 1.18 mods and forge 1.12 mods or you want to use fabric mods and forge mods well first off i want to say that you can’t use these together you have to choose you either have to play minecraft 1.18 with minecraft 1.18 forged mods or

You need to play minecraft 1.12 with 1.12 forged mods or you need to play minecraft 1.18 with fabric mods you can’t combine fabric and forge but you can make it easier to run these mods together because a lot of people just go in and delete all the mods from the old

Version and then add the new ones and then switch back and forth and install the old ones on the same mod setup but you can have separate profiles to where you can come in here and click play on forge and play your 1.12 forge stuff and

Come in here and click play on fabric loader and play your fabric mods without having to go uninstall and reinstall and do all of that so how do we do this well that’s what we’re going to show you exactly how to do in this video but

Start a modded server whether it’s forge or fabric or any version you want on apex again that’s the breakdown dot xyz slash apex first link down below now let’s go ahead and get this going now i’ve already got forge installed i’ve went through the installation video here

For both 1.18 and 1.12. i’ve also done this with fabric fabric is installed but right now if i was trying to play it wouldn’t work because i could only use mods from one version right but if we do want to play with different versions we need to open up the

Minecraft launcher that’s the first thing then we need to click on installations that’s the second thing the third thing is make sure everything’s labeled appropriately so i’m going to rename this from forge too as we can see this is 1.12 to forge 1.12 right because i want to make sure i know

What i’m i’m working on here right that’s a very important fabric here we want to go ahead and rename this as well to fabric 1.18 right boom because again we want to make sure that we’re very clear as to what we’re doing but there’s one missing here and that’s forge 1.18

So to get that you want to click new installation and then we want to name this forge 1.18 and then under version we want to select forage 1.18.1 right there boom there we go and click create so now we have all of our installations we got forged 1.18 1.12

And fabric here now to make it to where we can run these mods separately just come in here to installations again so from the minecraft launcher click on installations and then on the first one we’ll do forge 1.12 here click on the three dots on the right hand side again

And click on edit this time though we want to come where it says game directory and click on browse right then once we clicked on browse we want to scroll down to this dot minecraft folder it should already be kind of selected here click on this little arrow next to

It and scroll down and click on versions then under versions you should have forge 1.12.2 right go ahead and select that and then click ok what this has done is made your game version and where your files are stored in this folder so if we go ahead and click save we can install

Mods there but first let’s repeat this process for the rest of our versions so for fabric again we want to click these three dots click on edit click on browse on game version click on minecraft click on versions to open this folder here and then finally we want to find fabric so

There it is fabric loader 1.18.1 click ok that’s now selected we can click save we’ll repeat this one more time for forge here so go ahead and click edit here and then click on browse and then again minecraft versions and then we want to select the 1.18.1 version of

Forge right like so right there it is click ok save that and now how do you install mods into these well you don’t need to open up minecraft even just go ahead and click on the folder when you hover over these on this installations tab so hover

Over 1.12 click on that and boom it opens up this now currently there’s nothing in here but we can add a mods folder so right click new folder and then title it mods then i just want to drag and drop my 1.12 forwards mods in here which is chisel the mr crayfish

Furniture mod and twilight forest drag and drop these into this right here boom there we go and now these mods are installed when we launch this later on it’ll work how do we do it for fabric click on the folder and you guessed it create a mods folder right like so then

Drag and drop in your fabric mods these are all 1.18 fabric mods by the way so we going to drag and drop these into this mods folder you get this it’s super simple and super easy repeat the process one more time with forge 1.18.1 create a mods folder boom right like so

And drag and drop in our forge mods boom there we go that simple and that easy to do it now we can go ahead and actually open up minecraft right so to do that i’m going to open up all three of these at the same time just

Because that’s going to be quicker and get you through this video i just want to prove that this works so quick jump cut all three of these will be open with their respective mods so here we are we have uh three versions of minecraft open on the top right right here this is

1.18.1 forge if you click on mods there’s the mod seekers construct terra blender bottoms of plenty mantle and journey maps to us just enough items if we come over here we’re on minecraft 1.12.2 these are all running at the same time right mods we have the minecraft coder pack which is required for

Minecraft 1.12.2 it’s just installed and then we have minecraft forge and then we have ctm which is required for chisel mr crayfish furniture mod and there is twilight forest and then down here we have fabric and unfortunately there’s no real way for me to show you that unless

We just go in game so we’re going to quickly jump in game now one thing that you may notice is right here none of our worlds are here now don’t worry about that you just need to transfer them into that minecraft folder that we had earlier that we created right this is a

Brand new minecraft folder this also keeps your world separate though that means all your mods right will just work on these worlds because they’re just installed in this profile if you just launched vanilla minecraft by the way those will be vanilla worlds it’s really really cool how this works out so i’m

Gonna go ahead and create a fabric world here and then we go ahead and create this new world it will launch up with our fabric mods it’s that simple honestly to get this done so go ahead and uh show you these fabric mods and then we’re done this works right that’s

What’s so amazing and like i said you will need new worlds or need to move your worlds over because uh they won’t be here but you can also just create new worlds which i would recommend doing when you play mods anyway that way you’re not worried about going back

Without those mods you always will have those mods installed so it just works but as you can see here we are we have journey map in the top or not journey map excuse me we have x0’s mini map in the top right i kind of forget what
