[Applause] Hey guys welcome back to another snapshot video today got a really important one the terrain blending between old and new world generation was finally introduced so let’s check that out so we’re looking at a 1.7 inverted i just upgraded to the latest snapshot you can still see a distinct edge between the Old world generation here at the center and the new world generation on the side even without having the chunk overlay but if you turn this on you can definitely see yeah this junk was old word generation we got a desert biome and here on the side we got a lukewarm ocean biome which Mostly has grass blocks and this is caused by the blending which takes care of a gradual elevation change so not like in the really old minecraft versions when i wrote generation inch that we had steep cliffs um so this is now a gradual change in elevation so you Still have ocean biome and here slowly rises up so it blends smoothly with the old world generation we’ve got even more extreme cases for example over here we got a savannah biome right next to an ocean biome so we’re gonna see it here roughly the transition starts And it goes all the way up until here we got the junk border so i already checked out roughly 20 000 blocks worth of terrain blending and all i have to say emerging did a pretty good job on this of course there will be some edge cases like for example you got a Ravine the old world generation next to the ocean biome which is a bit unfortunate so this wouldn’t look that great but yeah overall sickness works pretty well so it’s definitely a lot better than those steep drop-offs that we had in previous minecraft versions i think the effort to make this work yeah is Definitely worth it so here we go another case where we have a mushroom island biome directly next to a normal plain spirum so this is something you usually wouldn’t see normally in your world but don’t think it’s even that bad sort of yeah the elevation landing works really well The weirdest things i’ve seen so far issues with structure generation you’ve got a pillager outpost on an island vieta is a village on flying islands so here we got a savannah village that for some reason generated in an ocean biome i also like this one here as we’ve got ocean ruins above ground In today’s snapshot world generation below y0 is also changed so the area below y0 will just be filled up with deep slate old bedrock will be removed and replaced with deep slate as well so here we are in 1.17 world i want to do some tests Here we got an area where every single block basically got removed you got a void perimeter i placed in some normal blocks here bedrock a little bit higher bedrock down there here we got another area where i removed everything down to y2 so we got some bedrock left over and up there also Place down a little bit of bedrock so let’s see what happens in today’s snapshot alright so bedrock placed high up in the world will be unaffected you can see that here take a look at our perimeter next so the old bedrock was removed and replaced by Deep slate but this is just a temporary solution you can also check out what happens below so this is completely filled up with deep sleep you can fly in there it’s completely full of deep slate and then we got a single layer of bedrock below but this is just a temporary Solution the plan instead of having yet this massive deep sledded layer is to have normal cave generation below and then probably also the usual up to five high layer of bedrock then here we got the avoid perimeter so this is yeah unaffected no deep slate Below so this is mostly done in order to make sure that the old sky block worlds are unaffected here also place down some bedrock up to y5 um so it seems like it’s important to have the bedrock at y0 okay so just have it one block higher it will be converted But no deep sleep will be generated below then here we got another layer of bedrock he was also unaffected and just having blocks here in the void also won’t affect it so it seems like the important part to the sides if there’s cave generation or this snapshot deep Slate generation below is really the bedrock advice zero there was also a lot of discussion because people weren’t really happy that we might get normal cave generation below our old worlds in case you spent all the effort removing all the blocks above made a giant perimeter And then we would have caves below where mobs could spawn all the effort would basically be lost and in order yeah to make the perimeter work again you would need to remove all the terrain once again down to bedrock in order to get perfect mob spawning conditions so for a While it seemed like you might even get an option infinitely to choose between having air below the old chunks or having the abnormal cave generation seems like that option is off the table and you won’t get to choose so we will have cave generation below the old chunks unless You spend a little bit more effort and made a void perimeter but i’m quite sure somebody will make a mod so you can convert your worlds however you like but it probably won’t be in vanilla i want to show one more example of the blending so we got a bit Of more extreme case we got normal plane spine right next to a snowy slopes biome that forms one of the new mountains in 1.18 and even into more extreme cases it still works pretty well so you get a gradual decline in elevation and this blends in relatively nicely of course There’s no biome blending so we definitely have to get the rough transition between the cold and the moderate climber biome just an interesting side note guess where we are right now just got at the end by process he told me to check out the nether in the snapshot version So actually at the top of the nether we used to be a layer of bedrock yeah got converted into nasal rake and here we got some nylon so depending on the biome and also some terrain features here on top and good mushrooms so on and i’m pretty sure yeah Then we got a source and valley biome we got patches of souls and soul soil so maybe fly around a little bit more i kind of want to find biome a basalt delta biome and i’m curious would have to say oh my god yep this is not the top of the nether Okay very interesting let’s see what happens at the bottom of the nether so there of course we also don’t have any better gloves in case you want to upgrade your old worlds to 1.18 snapshots now that we have the blending can only suggest to wait a little bit longer until Everything is finalized the blending will get a little bit better and then we also have the cave generation without chunks it’s just a bit unfortunate that we don’t get to choose apart from the introduction of blending there was a couple changes to the world generation they were rather subtle so it Wasn’t uncommon that at the coastline we had massive cave entrances especially at steep cliffs so this was a situation where this happened quite often that we would have just a massive cave entrance here and i followed the coastline for several thousand blocks and i can definitely confirm that this is at least Less likely to happen according to the patch notes lava aquifers also slightly less common and we won’t have those huge shifts in elevation between aquifers anymore it should make it a little bit easier to travel with your boat on them so if you got a good example the larp aquifer Generates the same height as the water aquifer so here we got one of those examples i was talking about that are supposed to be less likely that an aquifer is slightly higher than the neighboring one also flying around a lot in order to find good examples and i Generally get the feeling that aquifers might be slightly less common overall now and one more technical change big drip leaf will have basement restrictions from now on so you can only place it on clay brass and dirt variations so normal grass blocks are mycelium or botsol and all the dirt blocks even farmland But of course no path blocks and yeah you couldn’t place it on stone for example displacement restriction for the big drip leaf is actually a little bit of a shame because just a couple of weeks ago i designed this machine here so it was part of my crafting system Where i finally found a use for a big drip leaf in a redstone contraption but unfortunately yeah this machine would be outdated because it was required to place the big drip leaf on a waterlogged block and of course there are no water log dirt stairs something like that as far As i know so i’m pretty sure yeah we couldn’t build it like this anymore that is how fast things can go just to sign it a couple weeks later small change and it’s already outdated and i couldn’t easily replace it according to the patch notes the way block and fluid ticking works was Slightly changed in order to deal with a duplication bug it’s a bit early to call it but the other duplication block might not be entirely fixed and of course we don’t know yet how every single rest contraption that exists would be affected by this we’ll definitely keep An eye out for that there’s also a snapshot last week but i didn’t make a video about it because there wasn’t too much to talk about but i’ll do it here so get a new music disc in a game it’s called other side by elena rayne the artist had already made the pixel Music disc what’s maybe not worth it is we get a signal strength of 14 if you have a comparator next to the jukebox that means we only have one slot left so single strength 15 isn’t taken yet um where can you find this music disc so you can’t get it by having a Skeleton shooter creeper you need to find it in a dungeon chest or in a stronghold chest the chance for a dungeon chest is 3.1 percent and stronghold chest only 2.5 so those music discs will be very rare alright that’s all for today guys thanks for watching and see you next time bye [Applause] [Applause] You Video Information
