INSANE Redstone Tricks with Pots in Minecraft 1.20.50!

Hello I’m ABX toy cat and decorated pots just received a big upgrade including the ability to use them with redstone this allows for all forms of exciting possibilities and today in my updated Ventures world I’m going to be making some very janky and not very useful ones

While showing you exactly how pot Stone Works and why you’re going to want it in your survival world with that said let’s start with the most important thing how to actually use it and this part is really simple because a decorated pot sort of functions like a chest in the in

The same way you might put say seven dirt into a chest you can put seven dirt into a decorated pot and it will remain in there until you choose to break it this is obviously very similar to the chest you might say except the chest has 27 item slots and a capacity of

1,754 items versus just 64 items or one inventory slot for a pot indeed in every single way it seems as though the chest is just 27 times better except for when it comes to measuring it with a redstone comparator you can use a redstone comparator to measure what is inside of

Something and in the case of a chest it measures the output relative to its Max so between 0 and 1,754 items you get a stronger Redstone signal based on how many items are in there and so if you wanted to have the same effect but with

A lower tolerance you could do the same thing but inside of a pot and as you can see that same seven dirt goes a lot further giving you two Redstone instead of one this means that you can have more sensitive Redstone systems or if you just like to store items inside of a

Weird container this is also a valid reason to use it but yeah redstone is much easier with a pot than a chest because you can use just a few stacks of a given item and also you can guarantee that just a single item will fit in there the other change that they’ve made

To this that you might have heard about is that they’ve also made it so that all of your pot shards will actually be stackable in the complete form as well as the incomplete one this means that if you take those two heart Pottery shards and then combine them with bricks you

Will be able to make two heart pots I also love the fact that you can store your decorated pots inside of a copy of a another one meaning that you can break one pot and end up with two or break one pot and end up with eight if you really

Want to it’s a ridiculous feature but one I can’t help but saying I love anyway with that said this is my uh decorated pot sh collection I went through so many Trail ruins and this is what I’ve gotten so far it is very hard

To get a full set of these but now you might be slightly more motivated because when you have spare copies you can use those spare copies to make actually stackable Pottery shards that might then be useful for something around your base and so I’m going to show you the three

Levels of beginner pot stone inside of my house and yes I do live in a cave this is actually my fancy entrance as I’m sure a lot of you know uh but let’s talk about level zero pot stone which is basically just using it as an end receptacle for a complicated smelter so

Right here I have a big set of furnaces that slowly smelt up Clay until it turns into brick and so what I can do is I currently have a chest at the bottom right there that collects a lot of blocks what I could easily do if I so

Preferred is break that chest okay probably a bad idea idea to do that first place a pot down there instead and then scoop up the water from around the pot because I’m not sure I want it there in the first place and now we have a great solution to basically only the

Problem of the fact that we have lots and lots of bricks and we can throw those into a handy place right here and now after sorting all of my bricks away because I probably shouldn’t have let them all fall in the ground I now have a solution to my problem and slowly you’re

Going to see that the bricks are coming out of the hopper and loading into this uh this uh pot right here very very fun if you ask me in fact I think there’s actually a few bricks hanging out on the ground there still but there we go that

Is level zero pot stone just using it as an end receptacle and slowly but surely collecting items into it it is less effective than a chest if you do this alone however I’m using this as a point prover because once you’ve done that you can now work up to level one pot stone

Which is simply to measure the output of this man there These Bricks have really gotten stuck in a weird place oh I did not think we were just above the sheep farm there sorry guys didn’t mean to intrude get get back to your life if you

Want to I’m starting to think I crafted too many bricks I’ll turn them all into pots right now and solve that problem and then go grab some Redstone I keep it all in this chest right here very handy I know let’s grab some right now and

Show you level one pot stone which is to use this very same system but measure the output this seems fairly simple on the surface measuring the output of something is the whole point of the pot you might say um but what you can do with this if you have some very basic

Redstone system is you can simply put a very long Redstone Trail and at the end of that Redstone Trail have yourself a light that will turn on to indicate that you have got a very very full pot or chest and now we can run right through this thing replace everything with stone

Making sure the uh the pot stone stays very undisturbed in as many ways as possible and now basically hidden back there because of everything around it we have ourselves a system that will turn on whatever Redstone trigger over here that we want it could be TNT I’ve learned my lesson from that before

Though and and so instead I’m going to use a redstone lamp and so as simply as this we have a very easy tool that tells us when our system is full and so I think actually we’ll have to place a block there and then place our redstone

Lamp there and then refill this Gap and wow we have a redstone lamp that says you have a full pot you should empty it this is sort of creating a problem and then solving it but hopefully it shows you some of the power also if you’re

Going to do this make sure there’s no water that can ruin your Redstone but now I when I see that I know that the pot is full I need to break it I need to take that that very same brick uh stuff out there and then once I’ve done so I

Can replace a pot down in fact I could actually make it one of my dangerous shards if I want to but I’m just going to use a regular decorated pot for this because that is fun and now the exact same thing restarts slowly but surely bricks load up into there and once the

Pot is dangerously full do you know what’s going to happen um I’m not going to spoil it I’m going to let this play out for you that’s what’s going to happen boom also apparently we’re going to start activating some more smelting so fun fact that is is a very simple

Very silly piece of redstone that you can have you can use this to measure the output for all sorts of reasons including perhaps level two pot stone so how else could I use pots around my house to help me out well I think the uh the most fun thing that you could do

With this is you could put something in there every single time you come home and you could make it so that a random event happens once you’ve uh you know filled it up entirely and you know what the most fun random event of all would

Be well let me show you just outside my bedroom I have removed a torch to make way for this love pot which basically every time I walk in here I could put in an item which I always have on me in my case I think it’s fireworks and I could

Make this reward me every say 10th time that I go to sleep if you want to reward positive habits you can do so using some silly Redstone and what do I mean by that well let me show you so what we could do is we could simply measure the

Output of this using a uh Redstone comparator as always where did my Redstone comparators go I definitely made more than one you know what damn it this is it’s such a weird item to make Pro tip by the way pot stone is not for beginners you you can’t just uh want to

Have a redstone comparator you need to go to the never to deal with this piece of redstone I always think that’s quarky personally but there we go let’s make some Redstone comparators hopefully enough forever and let me show you what happens when we measure this so uh if we

Measure the output of this then we’ll be able to see how many items we have in there fun fact a single item equals one piece of redstone so if we wanted to activate say a piston we could do so at one block away and so now this piston

Right over here will only activate and destroy the Redstone once I put a piece of redstone in there and as you wait can you not activate a piston from the front well I’m learning new things about Minecraft every day can a can a piston not destroy the Redstone that that

Brought it the power what a weird fact well okay so what we’ll do is I’ll show you how this could be possible if we simply go around it like so we have a self-destroying piece of redstone how beautiful I I see you know this is the cool thing about Minecraft

While learning about decorated pots I learned a new fact about the Piston but anyway so now what we could do is we could measure the output off this preferably about the Piston right there and say that when we have say 10 items in there or three pieces of redstone we

Could have something fun happen well what does something fun mean in my case well I think a fun example of this could be that we set up just three pieces of redstone or four so maybe 14 items to activate something right below the pot and so every time we put 10 items in

There once I get 10 whole fireworks or 14 whole fireworks what could happen is the pot would break and give me all of those fireworks to keep it could be like a saving scheme I always oh okay well I wasn’t expecting that to happen so quickly it could be like a saving scheme

Where I put 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 14 fireworks go in and then what do you know the game decides that I am worthy off my fireworks back also my pot went purple you saw that right is that are pots meant to be purple

Whoa colored pots sorry this is entirely unrelated very unprofessional of me I know but I yeah that’s so much why aren’t they in all the colors if they if they can come in different colors like this I feel like that would change so much which maybe changes the inspiration for level

Three pot stone because this is something kind of fun the idea of like a saving scheme or you could even make it like a Minecraft multiplayer server something for Matic you could make it like a yes everyone has to do this at once every now and then and who who

Knows when the decorated pot is going to explode or who knows when the TNT is going to detonate you could treat it like a real game of hot potato because only the person who programmed the Redstone output and anyone who can see it can tell when the bad thing is going

To happen which in this case is a bad thing that gives me my pot right back after I go to sleep 14 times but yeah only one person knows when that’s going to happen which is fun but you can also use this for your own benefit which I’m

Just going to go to sleep it’s it’s dark in here my pots are turning purple my mind is going crazy let’s let’s sleep and think about this in the morning good morning everybody today I am very committed to making this level three Redstone and doing it in such a way that

Really Honors that these pots uh could be more fun if they had different colors I know this is the problem with when you get anything in Minecraft that it could always be better and you could have more but ultimately that is the cycle of this

Game and so this was the best I could do of a decorated pot before the update literally I hung up a arms up a pot right over here in front of a torch and that was as good as I had but now I think I can do a lot better so I’ll put

This over there and I guess future me can enjoy looking at that uh but current me is going to do something fun involving two pots because you don’t just have to use a single decorated pot indeed you can use them in tandem with other ones so I’m going to put a danger

Pottery Shard with some bricks around it one two one two one two stack those together and imagine just how great it would be wait so these ones are what why why why are they sometimes different colors anyway so imagine if these could be a fun color imagine a green pot that

Would be great but obviously it’s a pipe dream it’s incredibly impossible to imagine something like that unless we were to do something silly like dig out a hole over there and a hole over here or maybe we could go even more fun than this actually we could just put these

Down uh on the ground over here oh actually that is the ground I guess and then behind both of these things we put a redstone comparator so this will allow us to measure what’s in both of these pots and then we could do something fun

And make it so that only people who know what is behind this wall will know exactly how to uh get through it because um yeah I’m going to use a very rudimentary form of redstone right now and activate it so that when you have say again I think like like let’s let’s

Say four pieces of the right item in there or fre extra because I have one in there already you’ll be able to go and see my magical dream of a future world so we set up two simple Redstone comparators hooked them up to two pieces of redstone so should just require four

Things to turn on and then we have a piston wait no we don’t have a piston yet okay scrap that all let’s start it again and let’s realize something very fun which is that although having the Redstone comparators be very visible is entirely doable wouldn’t it be more fun

If it was actually hidden behind a wall well all we have to do for that is dig an extra block further back which should allow me to make some other improvements and now boom we can have the exact same thing back here except slightly better hidden so here are my two decorated pots

Which I’ll place with a stone block behind them one over there and one over here fun fact as long as you have nothing Redstone related between you and these Redstone comparators you can still measure what is behind them right here and so just over here we’ll have our first Redstone comparator hopefully in

The right direction and then just over here we’ll do the same now we can have it oh wait okay very odd I I okay there we go perfect and now we can have that linked to some Redstone which I’m going to do right now and we can make it so that 10

Items are required to activate say a piston and uh the way we do that is we break down here we place a piston over here and one over here as well and then we place another piston on the exact same side there although I think this is

One way of doing things for what it’s worth it is entirely effective and it would technically get the job done I think this will activate the two Pistons separately I.E we put 10 items in the left one 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 and it

Activates the Piston versus doing the same in the other one however I want to make it so that people need to know that both of these require the right item in them otherwise where’s the fun right and so what we instead want to do is set up

An and Redstone switch it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these so forgive me if I’m Rusty but I believe we place two Redstone torches into so indeed what we’ll just do is we’ll follow this forwards ignore all of that and we’ll place our two Redstone torches down here

Somewhere so this and then this one and then what we do is we place a redstone between them and that will only turn on the redstone torch here here when both sources are activated to confirm that that is true let’s power all of their Redstone in there let’s put a bunch of

These in there and see if that is correct it does not appear to be correct maybe because this is meant to be directly linked to the Redstone yeah that that looks right there so now when both of those are turned on this turns off which means if I have done things

Correctly and that is big if at this point now we have a redstone input which means that if both of these are filled this will retract and when both of these aren’t filled or even one of them isn’t filled oh it still activates I misunderstood entirely okay they’re both

Broken and the Redstone is permanently locked on I do not know how Redstone torches work oh it’s meant to be a block higher up that’s why so this was the correct form and then we have to do the same but over there if we can every time I do redstone there’s someone watching

The video who’s like toy cat why are you even doing Redstone you know shouldn’t you leave this to the Redstone Pros ultimately I think that’s part of the reason why it’s important to do this I think there’s a lot of people who are intimidated about Redstone who think

Wait oh this is the cave over there I think a lot of people look at Redstone and go oh yeah if I if I attempt to mess with that there’s going to be people who make fun of me but I you know there are people who think that this isn’t

Something I should do but ultimately I think basically everything should be attempted by people who are beginners I think the whole point of making YouTube is to hopefully make something like this more accessible and so by making this mistake you’ll hopefully realize if you’ve ever done something like this

You’re not alone and indeed we we share uh you know this and that way so what we’re going to do is we’re going to move the Redstone uh back one block over here nice and simply and we’re going to hook up the exact same comparators again go

Have a bit of gap between them a lot of redstone and survival really is just about trying to find a path uh that actually works between two points and that is something that can be very hard and very obtuse if you already have a lot of things built in the area but

Today I’m I’m going to show that we can work this uh regardless of that fact so now we’re just going to move uh the Redstone from there uh around back this way just to make sure that it absolutely works okay that should be good down

There then down here and then oh no that is that is not correct okay there and then place the Redstone down there and now we can build this direction while having this build in that direction there are three blocks of Gap in between them so we place a block there and a

Block there redstone torches on both of those then in between one of these and then on the side of that one of these this is called an endgate basically unless both of these are powered on this will not be turned on so this will turn on after both of those sources are

Activated and then we can have that activate a single piston just like so and so now the Piston is on by default actually is it meant to be on by default it’s on by default because of that okay so now we have a piston actually no we

Can use this for Advantage yeah the Piston will be on by default unless we fill two pots to the side here will that work let’s actually find out together let’s not pretend that this is something we have no clue about ahead of time that’s one of those filled here is

Another one of those filled and after we’ve done so effectively the Piston will retract inwards and now we know that that works correctly um wait has it retracted inwards I’m pretty sure it retracted inwards I feel like I just watched it do so but I see that it’s

Still active right now oh it it reactivated from the redstone torch below it so we’ removed that redstone torch and now this alone allows it to activate from that we can have this now face upwards if we really want to so replace the stone there place a sticky

Piston up here um or actually maybe we could place it like down a block I’m curious if that will work correctly Let’s uh break one of the pots and find out there we go yeah so now and but now this piston will have a single piece of stone active there which will otherwise

Block my potential access into this tunnel unless I fill both of these pots with the right thing which they’ll be previously filled with so that is a lot of redstone to explain something fairly fun and fairly basic but now what we can do is we can have a tunnel which looks

Like it is impossible until you do just the right thing involving these pots so let’s grab this pot right here the danger Pottery Shard let’s fill it up and let’s show that yes these pots both being filled is the correct solution oh no I don’t have enough items for this

One so let’s let’s fill it with fire work since we know I love those um fill this with the right things and once you do that you have final access through this passageway which you can crawl through and then you can access on the other side this is actually a bit messy

To walk past the Redstone but that’s entirely fine because what’s going to be on the other side is the fun part of this in my opinion trust me when I say this is all going to be worth it but for now I just have to now hide the Redstone

From the cave behind it I have to dig myself a tunnel that is actually uh workable indeed hide as many of these blocks as we can just to make my path as easy and straightforward as possible and then I’m going to dig out the most beautiful thing that represents My True

Values here and we’re going to obviously decorate it as so and uh this is maybe a fun part of the let’s play for some uh but yeah let’s speed things up as we go this is a fun New segment of the let’s play by the way because I think the

Let’s play being about things that you can actually do in survival in a reasonable amount of time is something that’s important but also it might be fun to see that happening at a faster speed while still being a very human pace and so this week is an interesting

Example of a Minecraft update which is very much smaller but also nicer to see having a smaller update but having it come out between the major ones actually leads to a lot of fun creativity even if that’s doing some silly things of pots even if it’s doing some fun things of

Just opening doors or having outputs Go in different ways or even just stacking your pots together having new forms of creativity come out of an update that seems so small is actually a big win many other small updates are just tiny bug fixes here and there but having an

Actual brand new feature makes a big difference difference in other words I think this is a concise Minecraft update it is short but to the point it is between 1.20 and 1.21 we still get both of those updates but in between we get this really nice one and in a similar

Vein to that something I’ve been really working on for the videos is being more concise I think one of the problems that a lot of people used to have with the older style of toy cat video is there’s a lot of what people might call waffling

Or rambling kind of just talking to the camera to get the point in a very natural way something I always do think is important but also even if talking to the camera naturally is important and to me you better believe it is I think it’s also important to say uh that while

You’re having these natural conversations it’s still is ideal to have them in less time if you can uh the one thing that changed since uh you know people liked that kind of natural style is that during uh you know that time people started kind of artificially elongating their videos for all sorts of

AD Revenue reasons and even though I can promise to you that has never been on my mind there is a lot of YouTube that is a business and if you don’t treat it like one then you’re just treating it like a bad business uh but one of the things

That I don’t think is actually important is M making sure to maximize the length of your videos because ultimately I think if you let a topic goone for as long as possible then people will want to see more for the longer top topics and they’ll be okay with watching

Another video or waiting till tomorrow if it’s a slightly shorter one I think for the very very very short things I’ve kind of resisted for most of time till recently with the whole kind of uh you know quick dive video however I think the idea of being concise is something I

Really want to work on and indeed this let’s play is a sort of you know new attempt at that format because I think that saying things you know quickly and trying to share as much information as shortest time as possible is something that I would like to Aspire to so many

Videos are really good at getting a good you know like first 30 seconds across but then as soon as they’ve crossed that critical Mark they just kind of uh descend into something else I think having uh the I think my goal is to spend a lot more time it takes double as

Long to say something and half as much time is a counterintuitive fact but my goal is to be better at doing that and to do that as much as I can so that when when you see a 10-minute video or when you see a 20 minute video you’re like

Wow that’s a lot of extra stuff that goes in there versus I think there was a phase where when you saw a 30-minute video on YouTube it probably took the person 30 minutes to make I don’t think that phase of YouTube is ever coming back and there’s probably a good reason

As to why uh but I think in the modern era rather than being too fast of your edits and your Cuts maybe what would be more important and something that I want to try my very best on is being fast and concise with my words and trying to get

As much across as I can and that’s something I’ve been doing a lot more recently maybe you’ve noticed but a lot of update videos would really start to run ridiculous amounts of time something that is uh entirely fine when it happens but I really want to work my best on

Reducing the number of words to say the same things if I can something that is proven very very hard it isn’t uh necessarily natural to me but it is something that feels good when I do it and so with the form of this let’s play

It is the same thing but shorter and to anyone who feels like but I want to have a longer companion I think the live stream still existing is the best case for that indeed uh I think the next live stream on this channel will probably be

In the let’s play world will be that long form couple of hours let’s talk about history philosophy as well as whatever else in Minecraft and I hope uh that that’s something that you’re down with because if it’s not then whoopsy I think it’s already happening it’s a big

Uh change that is going on here but ultimately it’s one that I think is important to go through and speaking of things that are important to go through if you like the idea of a quick challenge or you want a much longer one maybe you’d enjoy Ultra flat survival
