The Minecraft account migration fight is not over. On September 25 the window closed for qualified players to confirm they want to be part of the group lawsuit against Mojang AB in Swedish court. The campaign site lawsuit.gg reports 2845 participants have been contacted and the case filed in June is now advancing past the confirmation stage.

The suit targets the forced switch from Mojang accounts to Microsoft accounts. Plaintiffs argue the change particularly affected those who bought the game as children before strict age verification and data policies were in place. Organizers positioned it as a consumer rights matter for legacy owners in the EU and EEA who feel the migration altered ownership terms they originally agreed to.
Who qualified
- Purchased Minecraft before December 10 2013
- Was under 18 at time of purchase
- Resident of EU or EEA country
- Successfully confirmed with the court by September 25
Emails went out on September 4 warning everyone to check spam folders and complete the court confirmation. The organizers have been transparent with case number T 5478-26 at Nacka tingsrätt and have posted regular updates on procedural steps including responses from Mojang’s lawyers.
Whether this actually changes anything for Microsoft or sets a precedent for other legacy game accounts remains to be seen. What is clear is that a sizable chunk of the original Minecraft community still cares enough to put their details on a legal document years after the migration happened. The next public update will likely come from the court once it rules on class certification.
Every qualified participant has been notified and has to confirm to the court by the 25th of September 2026.
