Players who bought Minecraft years ago and later got forced into Microsoft accounts have a new deadline in the ongoing class action. The group running the suit Minecraft: Consequences Edition announced on September 4 that every qualified participant has now received an email. They must confirm with the court by September 25 or risk being dropped.
What the case actually claims
The filing targets Mojang AB in a Swedish court under EU consumer law. It focuses on users who purchased the game before December 10 2013 as minors and lived in the EU or EEA. The core argument is that the mandatory account migration stripped away rights attached to the original purchase and Mojang did not properly handle the transition for legacy customers.
Current status shows the court has the participant list and is reviewing whether the case can proceed as a class action. No final decision on certification yet but the project says no procedural roadblocks have appeared so far. The last update on August 26 noted Mojang’s new lawyers had responded.
