Minecraft Modding 1.7.10 — EP8 Making Custom Tools

Hello everyone and welcome back to modding with P Camille episode number eight in this episode we are going to be covering tools so we are ready to go and I am hyped sort of anyway so you want to make a new package and you want to do

Come zonta Hitler dots or Tom dot your name and then tools there we go and now you want to make a new class and yeah again any different type of ones you’re going to have so in this case I’m going to make femoral tools because or not so

I Merle tools there we go and we want to go to the main registry and register it before ever gets so emeralds tool dot name registry and all ready to go so you want to save that and we’ll get the left later so let me pull up my reference

Here and let’s get right into it so we have our class here and now we are ready to go so you want to do public static void once again and main registry overnight curly brackets and in there you want to do initialize item and register

Item just like that and now we’ve got to create those functions so public static void initialize item open that up and you should know how to do this one out so public static void register item and there we go now we are ready to start with our tools so first off you’re going

To start with public static and then item and we’re going to name that emerald and put a semicolon after that and we want to import net minecraft item and we want to copy that and paste it for more time so 1 2 3 4 and I didn’t

Spell unrolled right so let’s get rid of that alright so now we have emerald you can do sort pick Thanks and you want to do spank you can do shovel but it’s a little bit less confusing if you use speed and so now for something like this you could just

Put like a hoe or eise paid as long as it’s on one class but again if you make it where’d it out properly it makes it much easier to do also naming kind of makes more sense so yeah so now we have all our tools and now we can get ready

To set them up so you want to do let’s actually fix this one spelling error and let’s copy this now we do emerald sword equals new emerald sword and put that and we’ll get to white goes inside those in a bit and we want to do sets and

Localized name and an old sword and create a tab and then open up and again we will soon be creating our own custom tab and that would be tab tools I believe let’s put that there and we want to import that there we go so now we have that already

And i actually have textures already made from my first mod or my actual mod up making so so text your name and with the brush strings not ID again if you don’t know how to make textures check out my other tutorial on making them it’s very simple and we want to import

Rest strings there we go and the name so this is actually restored because of the way it’s named in my other mod so now you have that and we want to copy that whole line for more times so not a copy and paste but that makes it a lot easier

So one two three four and there we go so now if we select this copy it and replace it in everyone and i’ll get to the texture names later and then seemeth acts and so on and so forth and if you have a horrible keyboard like me your finger gets cramped up pretty

Quickly so I keep that in mind especially when you got to do that for like 20 items in a row so yeah there we have all our stuff ready to go and now now I’ll just change the textures quickly so no state acts and projects I

Think it’s a pic let me check that’s my recording stuff and it is actually very useful to make a shortcut to your textures folder so yes it is a pic so now you can say that’s and now we just gotta register these items so game registry not register her item and

Emerald swords and little sword dot get a localized name and you want to copy this four times or copy and paste it for more times and of course swap all the names around so you register everyone and lots of copy and paste but it’s fairly simple not like rocket science or

Anything so yeah always use ctrl C and ctrl v much much quicker than using your mouse but if you have a really horrible keyboard that you may have to just use your mouse so yeah so now we have our things registered now we are ready to actually make the tools which in

Themselves are actually very easy to do so we want to create a class called emerald sword and in here we want to do extends item sword and control shift oh the import as you see net die minecraft item that sort and you do not want to make a

Constructor yet so what you want to do is go up above the class they’re actually right above where you made the items sorry and you want to make the tool material so you want to do public static tool material and emerald be the name of our material equals enum helper

So using numbers dot add tool material there we go and this will be rotation marks emerald so the new move your armor thing your harvest level your max uses efficiency damage and enchant ability and if we import this and we hold ctrl and click on tool material here you can

See all the values so this is what you want to look at so here you can see not sure where diamond is maybe that’s somewhere else yeah i’m not sure where that one is that’s odd but anyway here you can see so material level 3 equals

Diamond to as iron one stone 0 is wood and gold so yeah this is what you want to keep track of so if we want it to have the durability of iron which is actually kind of bad we would put all this stuff in so go back to our thingy there it is

And place this in and put that on the end now we have our tool material and we want to copy emeralds and place it in the parenthesis behind everyone and that gives us our tool material and you can of course set it as high as you want so

Let’s see where is it total material that has 250 durability emerald I’m not sure if that was meant to be added later on or why there is actually a emerald durability thing actually lost where it was so that’s actually bad so let’s go back to here and click on it again there

It is so emerald has 1561 so let’s change this up to 5250 because why not and let’s set this value to 3 so that will give the mining level of the diamond pick and let’s see strength of the tool and damage versus entities and other stuff like that so

Let’s just put everything nice and high let’s put I think that’s six died so let’s put that up to 15 and five and thirty see if that works I haven’t actually tested these values but we’ll see if it works anyway so if you want to

Go into your class and you want to add a constructor save it and you can see this one one so now you just want to create a class for that then in this one you want to make it extends item pickaxe I believe or is it item pick item pick X

Yes item pick X can you say that add a constructor save that as well and you can exit out of those classes that you don’t need just to make everything less jumbled create class extends item X and what extending does is just basically get the attributes of that thing and

Apply it to the current class basically is what it’s doing so import everything add a constructor and in later episodes i will probably get into how to add like potion effects to your tools and stuff like that maybe even auto smelling that’s pretty complex i think so

Probably not but yeah so item and this one has to be items speed that’s why I said it easier to name your thing a spade just because so import that and add constructor and this is just applying the Emerald tool thing to our item so let’s go to

Their and extends ho and these will work is just like a little tool as well and you can actually have them get a enchantment applied when you make them but the way I know how to do it sort of doesn’t work when you shift click it out

So I won’t show you how to do that so I know how to do it myself so I don’t and then oh go control shift oh and again I don’t know the mac commands because I’ve never owned a mac so sorry about that but yes so there we have our stuff and

We might as well but we need to import this first so save that and let’s go to our naming file and these are just considered items so you want to do i don’tdon’t and then thing so emeralds and then about name equals in rome’s so

We’ll do that and that’s a lot easier so copy that four more times and then we’ll just get the name so sword pick sure that’s exactly how is ax oh and who’s the other one Spade yes that me go I don’t know if they’re in the right order does it really matter stayed

Oh X and once again make sure you have no spaces in the beginning part or else it will not work correctly so sword there you go save it and start it up and now we should have our tools and these I believe aren’t repairable with like

Normal emeralds and stuff that I know of I think they’re only repairable with their own unused tool so yeah there may be other ways to do it but for now that sound is so let’s see if everything added up tools emerald hell he’s paid okay here we have six attack damage nine

Stuff like that so let me actually take a look at why these textures aren’t going alright so so you go into our folder source main Java assets tutorial my textures note they aren’t in their turn in there okay okay looks like i did something that’s a little bit wrong I’m not entirely sure

What I did let’s see x how swords bade that hmm that is a bit odd what happens if I reload okay so you have to figure that out maybe rename this so name to mr rolls and let’s actually copy emerald so we can easily rename these there we go so

Rename get rid of e and that and maybe this will solve the issue because i do have other textures in my computer name the same so maybe that’s the issue I don’t know traffic right there we go and all right so let’s see if this works I’m I’m going to need to

Add this and I may have to read launch minecraft sorry about having to troubleshoot I’m not sure why it wasn’t working hopefully it works now so I want to save that and watch it once again so hopefully this works doesn’t I’m not sure why let’s cross our fingers and nope okay that’s strange

Very strange indeed unless it is what i said earlier but that doesn’t mean a whole lot of sense so let’s get rid of the capital letters in my other mod they seem to be working good though so maybe that’s the problem actually let’s try it like that but yeah

That’s basically everything and making tools so if you want to click away that’s completely fine I’m just figure out figuring out why my textures aren’t working because they ultimately should be so say that oops not that and let’s see this guy they are all registered correctly and the texture should be as

Well so that’s odd so let’s rename this so emerald stores wait why is that that’s odd there we go I hate tractor-trailers spade all right so did those to convert yes I did and now we just have the hole left and the pickaxe may up in a spelling here too I

Have no idea so removal click and refresh there we go so we have all those ready and let me check my spelling alright so those should work now gosh your fingers once again and yes hopefully it works if it doesn’t I have no idea why because they were completely

Fine in my other mod unless i’m not using the right nope i am I’ll have it explained it darp found the reason why and make sure you have Colton’s in there always pay attention to detail which I currently wasn’t so yes save so now I will have to reload

The textures I believe I may have to relaunch it just because it’s yeah so if we have none there and do that yeah I need to read launch a game now because it’s different than just the name itself yo loading once again and this time it should work and if it doesn’t something

Is really messed up so here we go huh yes here we go so we have our tools so nine attack damage on that pickaxe emerald acts up come on shovel X and hell and they all actually work correctly so if you do that and if it go

To game mode 0 you can see we can cut down stuff and this is our nice fast one you can dig up dirt and we can looks like something was glitching out of it the hardness of the torch is a little big but yeah should work and it breaks

These blocks so yeah works nice I wish you can break everything like this and if we go to kill a piggy we should be able to kill a piggy died and it works fantastic and if I grab an anvil in the mode or actually a enchanting table and

Put my tool in there you can enchant it so sharp miss to 11.5 breaking three efficiency three and all that good stuff so yes that is how you add tools very easy to do actually and you can modify a bunch of things with them again my potion effects when you have them
