What’s going on everyone it’s Smitty back with another news video today I want to discuss what the future looks like in regards to shaders for Minecraft bedrock and why honestly I think we can have a pretty positive mindset for the future of the game I know a positive video about Minecraft Bedrock pretty Rare a real quick Shameless plug right here I’ve started a second Channel we’re on the way to 100 Subs if you want to support me there that’d be greatly appreciated it’s mainly a Call of Duty zombies Channel right now by the name of smitty33 we may Branch out and do other Types of videos but yeah link to that down below alright so where are we at we all know that third-party shaders have been basically non-existent on Minecraft Bedrock platforms ever since that render Dragon update back in 2019 and it’s still a really common question I get in The comments how can I get shaders on Xbox well at the moment you can’t but some fairly recent actions by Mojang may have given us a glimpse into what is to come and it’s looking pretty promising so let’s rewind a couple weeks back to April 12th of this year on this day Minecraft preview version 1.20 was released and although one of the big focuses of this update was the new ability to add banners onto Shields there was much more added but things added we couldn’t exactly see in the game instead popular add-on Creator and Twitter user smokestack tweeted out Alright preview 1.20 is downloading for me let’s see what’s in the files and after doing a little bit of mining Smokey made a discovery relevant to the future of shaders in Bedrock here’s what was found the renderer folder got new stuff I would not be surprised if by Minecraft live we got a demo for a Shader API a unless they pull another super duper Graphics Pack we shall not talk about that but Smokey found new files that pretty much confirm Mojang are working on some sort of Graphics update and this Graphics update now has A bloom and shadows config folder we all know what Shadows are and Bloom is what makes light sources like the sun and the game look a little bit more realistic like it’s actually emitting light another popular add-on creator Mark Jones responded to Smokey’s original tweet asking the question is there a Configuration for different platforms if so then it’s probably really a Shader API Smokey responded to this by saying currently the bloom config has a general PC and Xbox series The Shadow config has General PC Android and Xbox series and then Mark would say pretty much expected probably additional graphic effects will Be be available only on more powerful platforms so if you play on devices like the new consoles or Windows 10 the future is looking pretty promising as it appears a new graphics update is in the works and it will be officially supported by Mojang all of this Information was brought up to me by my friend big Eddie spaghetti the person who informed me a few months ago that render Dragon had actually been disabled on the switch version of Minecraft yeah so like four months ago it was actually possible to get real third-party shaders Working on the switch but that has since changed as they have enabled render Dragon once again on that platform nevertheless to get a little more information here’s how my discussion with the big Eddie spaghetti went he began by informing me that we are probably getting render Dragon shaders He then showed me that with the Newfound access developers had to these Bloom and Shadow files they had actually found a way to get the bloom effect working in the preview game here is a screenshot shared by Twitter user the one demonstrating the bloom effect working on glowstone and sea lantern blocks Another screenshot Eddie showed me was one of torch’s emitting different colored lighting and he then said to prove that these features are coming to all platforms shared this platform configuration.json file which listed all of the Bedrock devices and the shadow configuration folder attributed to them now Eddie gets a lot of his information From the Discord server years static Shader group or yss and in that server you can learn a lot about the current state of shaders in Bedrock as there are a whole bunch of educated developers there I’ll be sure to link that Discord server down below if you have any Interest in learning about this yourself I wanted to ask Eddie if these Graphics changes would be coming to all devices to which responded pretty much yeah however low-end devices will only get shadows and lighting probably the high-end devices like Xbox and PlayStation and PC will get more like Bloom and other stuff by the way the yss devs say that it’s gonna look like Java shaders which would be awesome and I said that would be sweet and they are confident it’ll work on PlayStation and Xbox to which Eddie said they’ve already found more Shader stuff for Xbox series And PC another thing that will be interesting to see is how this Graphics update will be implemented I asked the question to Eddie will they allow third-party shaders or is it going to be a pack they’ll release in the marketplace to which Eddie said not sure Yet I said gotcha he said there are rumors that it will be on the marketplace or instead people can create their own shaders with this new Shader stuff and release it on the marketplace or mcpedl.com so I guess the answer is that we don’t know yet but overall it is good news to See that Mojang are definitely working on some sort of Graphics update and we may get more information around the time of Minecraft live this year which is in October another thing Eddie said was that people on Android were finding ways to apply these new Shader related files Released on the preview version of their phones he shared this screenshot saying it’s barely working and it’s very much a work in progress but if we stay on the current path we are on and Mojang continues adding files like this into the game it is a very positive sign that They may be delivering on something so many people have been wanting to return back into the game I just straight up asked Eddie can we expect Mojang to keep adding Shader files to which he said yes I said they’re working on something and he said yes and that is very good to Hear so if you were one of those people of wondering about the future of shaders on your Xbox or Playstation or computer I hope this video helped clear up all the confusion around this topic ever since 2019 we the Minecraft Bedrock Community have been without shaders in The game but with all this data recently discovered by Smokey as well as other people our time without shaders may be nearing an end at least we can all hope but I’m interested to hear what you all have to say about this are you excited at the potential future of Minecraft Bedrock with supported shaders I’ll be sure to keep you all up to date on the latest news and if anything big breaks I’ll be sure to let you all know join my Discord down below because why not feel free to check out my second Channel I Appreciate you all so much and until the next one everyone it’s been Smitty have a great rest of your day peace
