Hello everyone sunlight here and welcome back to another episode of bug rock of the week today we’re gonna be taking a look at 13 critical redstone issues on the bedrock edition of minecraft we all know that redstone’s got some issues on bedrock edition but today we’re going to Be taking a look at 13 very specific examples of redstone of being broken or inconsistent or in general weird on the bedrock edition if any or all of these bugs were fixed it would allow hundreds if not thousands of additional contraptions it is kind of a terrible experience to design and create Something for hours and hours and just to learn that a bug makes it impossible to do the way that you want to or the way that you need to so hopefully we can get these bugs the attention that they deserve and help get them fixed in future updates So of course there’s more than 13 redstone bugs however these are all the ones that i haven’t covered in previous episodes or otherwise just covered in general if you want a whole lot more redstone bugs actually made an entire other episode dedicated to redstone bugs and i cover them every so often in Random episodes here and there so you can check out the other episodes in the series if you want a whole lot more redstone bugs for your face i just want to say a real quick thank you to tal for keeping a very detailed and updated list Of all of the technical bugs on a bedrock edition all the bugs that affect the technical contraptions and redstone and always keeping that list fully updated always keeping the bug reports fully updated every single time there’s a new update seriously tal thank you so much for doing that it really does help Out the cause and helps get these things fixed so we got a lot of redstone bugs to cover so we’re going to split things up into a sections and categories the first category is hopper bugs and the first one that we’re gonna check out is a very simple yet very annoying one that Recently wasted about four days of my time yes four days yet it’s i don’t want to talk about it anyway as you can see here we got a hopper with one iron block in each slot and a hopper minecart with one iron block in each slot as well this Can be any stackable item in the game i’m just using iron blocks for demonstration so of course we throw a block of iron onto these it’s gonna get picked up it’s gonna stack with those it’s gonna get sorted and collected perfectly normal that’s how it should be If we throw any other item in the game that is not an iron block as you can see it’s not gonna get picked up or collected mostly because of that annoying chicken but yeah as you can see the gold block or any other block in the game is not Gonna get collected because it just simply can’t that’s how it should work those are the basic mechanics of hoppers that’s how things should work however if there’s more than two item types above a hopper it’s only ever going to try and pick up the first item that it sees so In this case it’s going to be continuously trying to pick up that gold block but it knows that it can’t so if we throw an iron block right there you can see it’s never even going to try and pick it up even though it absolutely can If we go ahead and collect that gold block if we can just collect that then you’ll see that it basically picks up the iron no issues at all very very annoying bug that has a massive implications and breaks a ton of different storage technology basically ruins an entire category of automatic Storage and sorting systems which is very annoying so as you can see if we come over here we got a hopper with five iron blocks if we throw in a stack of gold into this water stream and then some iron it’s never gonna pick up those Iron blocks no matter what you do it’s just like not worried about it you’ll see that it can normally pick up the iron just fine as you can see everything goes into the hopper so we’re kind of forced to use hopper chains and hopper chains are very slow they only transfer 9 000 items an hour leaving us with not very many options to sort a ton of items very quickly the bug report link for this issue can be found down in the description of the video and if you want to help get it fixed then You can go ahead and upload that and add any additional information to it that you may have and in fact all the bugs that we talk about in today’s episode have a bug report links down in the description all of the bug reports have a ton of additional information about The bugs and if you want to help get any of them fixed go ahead and upload those and add additional information to them our next bug has to do with hopper minecarts grabbing items up into the diagonal of where they should be able to so in this little demonstration we have A hopper minecart down there in the middle that is one block below all these other hopper mine carts and it’s gonna be grabbing items from these two hopper mine carts however it’s not gonna be grabbing items from these two so it’s like a collection area is kind of offset To the southeasterly direction so that is north of course that’s west and that’s east and of course that is south over there we’re going to go ahead and throw gold blocks into the east direction iron into the south emeralds into the west and diamonds into the North direction and then if we open up the one in the middle you’ll see that it’s collected gold and iron so it’s collecting ones from this mine cart as you can see and it’s also collecting ones from this minecart as well so it’s a little bit strange and it does Actually affect a couple different systems for example if you have a super smelter this bug is the reason why your fuel chest is getting all of your smeltable items or vice versa and next up we have observer bugs and boy oh boy do we have a lot of observer bugs i was Not aware of the sheer amount of things that observers cannot detect but there’s actually like a lot of things so starting off with the first one that i can’t demonstrate because this is not a snowy biome whenever a snow layer generates on top of a observer face like When it snows and a mountain spine or snowy biome the observer will not detect that and will not emit a pulse it cannot detect a repeater getting locked from the side from another repeater it can’t detect a note block being played being powered or changing instrument by a Different kind of block being placed beneath it it can’t detect a tripwire hook being redirected or changing state or any of that stuff can’t detect a grass block changing to a snowy grass like so does not detect a book being put into or taken out of a lectern does not Detect a jukebox having a disk put into it or taken out of it and just to take a little break because words are hard oh yeah big step also it cannot detect a stair changing direction like so or glass panes or iron bars a changing direction and like that it can’t detect A trapdoor or door being powered when it’s already opened it can’t detect an n portal frame having an eye put into it cannot detect a campfire changing state when a hay bale is put underneath it can’t detect when rails switch directions cannot detect when nether wart grows in front of it If that will ever grow maybe yeah there it goes see it does not detect it cannot detect a uh this thing respawn anchor being charged cannot detect a leaf stone we’re literally missing an entire category of redstone because observers do not detect leafs changing state when logs are placed Either closer or further away from them like leaf stone is just a straight up thing that we do not have on bedrock edition because observers do not detect all of those things i don’t even know how many things that is but it’s a lot of things and there’s even more than this Just to give you a little break from the redstone for a second i interrupt this video to say if you are enjoying this video and want to see more of them on the channel in the future then to see more of them in the future then subscribing might be a good thing but otherwise let’s get back to the redstone shall we you want to know what observers Do detect though something that they shouldn’t so whenever an observer is facing a powered piece of redstone dust whenever you reload the chunks that that observer’s in it’s going to activate and send a pulse this can be devastating for so many different types of redstone contraptions especially sorting systems And the like or really just anything redstone doors you name it it can break if it’s uh activated in the wrong way at the wrong time so we’re gonna go ahead and re-log and if this block gets pushed up to that position that’ll mean that the observer activated so let’s go ahead And log out the game and then just log back in really quickly and as you can see that observer did fire upon read log that block has moved up to the upper state and this seriously breaks so many things it has been around for absolutely ages literally years at This point our next bug has to do with minecart rails and minecarts of themselves so if you move a powered detector rail like if there’s a minecart above it then it is going to stay powered basically forever even if you then remove the mine cart and put it Back and remove it and do whatever you want to it give it all kinds of block updates it’s never going to turn off and in fact this will power powered rails as well so you can essentially have a free power sources and your rail lines and yes you can automate this and have Flying machines make infinitely powered rail lines and all that good stuff so this used to also work with powered rails if you move them while they’re powered they would stay powered and it used to work with activator rails as well however i cannot reproduce that in 1.16.20 so that may have been fixed or there might just be a different way of moving these to keep them permanently powered i don’t have a good way of demonstrating this next one but basically if the game crashes while a minecart is moving it’ll basically always get deleted along with the Contents of the minecart as well another interesting bug with powered rails is that sometimes they will not get powered correctly so as you can see here we have a very very basic setup we have a lever powering a block which will then power eight powered rails that’ll also power This redstone line going into this block which should power the next eight rails in a line so as you can see from my setup it works perfectly fine i have not been able to reproduce this bug although it seems quite finicky from the comments on the bug report but as you can see From this image on screen it doesn’t always happen like it should so it’s quite the strange one and now on to the miscellaneous redstone bug so that should definitely be fixed our first one is the fact that dispensers cannot place armor stands this is a rather new Feature that was added to java edition not very long ago but it has not made its way to a bedrock edition as you can see it just shoots it out as an item now why is this important first of all these things are very creepy and evil and you Should be able to spawn them anywhere in your world whenever you want using dispensers and also if we had this feature of dispensers we would be able to make automatic armor sorters which could be very very cool i am seriously looking forward to that that’ll be really awesome it’s technically on the Bug tracker when it probably shouldn’t be because it’s a parody issue but you know what the bug tracker is weird there’s like guidelines for what should go on there but there’s a lot of stuff that shouldn’t be on there next up the target block is a transparent block that Does not conduct redstone power so as you can see if we power it with this repeater it doesn’t do anything at all it doesn’t power the redstone doesn’t unpower the torch you can power it with a lever it doesn’t do anything you can power it with redstone dust it doesn’t Do anything at all it just straight up it does not conduct redstone power in any way this is very unfortunate because the target block is actually a rather unique block it is a solid block that happens to redirect redstone dust which could come in handy in a variety of Situations especially in compaction and just other cool circuits and fun stuff like that and next up we have a bug with a tripwire hooks so of course if you stand in one of these or if a mob stands in them and that’ll activate it and then power the redstone however if something Is standing in the tripwire hook as the chunk gets unloaded or as you re-log the world then it’s going to break the tripwire it’s not going to detect the entity standing in it anymore so it’s going to unpower the redstone but it’s still going to have something standing In it so if we go ahead and disconnect from the world and then re-log we’ll see this bug happen and as you can see we’re still standing in the tripwire hooks and they are not down like they should be they’re not detecting that we’re standing in them however it’s not powering the redstone Either so it basically is just completely broken we can stand in a tripwire without activating it which is a very strange and mysterious thing our next bug has to do with tnt slash explosions and moving blocks moving blocks on bedrock edition are completely immune to explosions so they’ll Basically never get destroyed by any kind of explosion which is kind of sad especially when compared to java edition a moving block is very very not resistant to an explosion so it’ll basically get broken every single time by an explosion even if it’s very high a blast resistance block like in stone for Example so we’re going to be using slime and honey because these have a basically no a blast resistance we’re going to flip that lever activate that tnt and then a 41 redstone ticks later we’re going to move these blocks as you can see and not a single one of them got Broken by the tnt if we don’t have them moving as it’s getting exploded then you’ll see that everything gets destroyed like it should this affects all kinds of farms from concrete converters to stone and cobblestone generators and then tree farms and warped fungus farms it effects a lot of Things and it would be really nice if this bug were fixed we would have a much more efficient tnt blast chambers and speaking of tnt and blast chambers a tnt does not drop every single block that it destroys so typically how tnt should work and how it currently works on java Edition is when it destroys a block from exploding that block will always drop as an item which is a very very cool and very helpful for all kinds of different things so if we go ahead and blow up this platform of a slime you will see That it’s not really going to drop that many different items so let’s go ahead and collect these items real quick c’s and we’ll see that we got ourselves a total of 16 slime blocks definitely not how many was destroyed if we filled that platform back in you’ll See that you know 79 islam blocks got destroyed not that many items actually got dropped it would be really nice for tnt to have the proper mechanics because then we can have a cool or blast chambers so what do you think about all the different bugs showcased in today’s Video let us know in the comment section down below i
