Creator kathacro hosted a live building session on the ancient console edition this week after disabling IPv6 on their router, pulling in friends for a working online world that most assumed died years ago.
The Minecraft community has a long memory. While Mojang pushes new biomes and marketplace content the legacy console editions refuse to stay dead. On June 19 a YouTuber uploaded clear proof that Xbox 360 edition online multiplayer is still functional in 2026.
One Router Setting Changes Everything
The fix is not complicated. Disable IPv6 on your home router then create a new world and send invites through the friends list or friends of friends. In the video players including Bribed 007 Ash and others successfully connect spawn in the same seed and start building bases and welcome areas. There are the usual crashes and connection hiccups that anyone who played the game at launch will remember but the sessions hold together long enough for actual group play.
No custom servers or major mods are required. It runs on the original hardware or compatible setups using the built in Xbox Live networking that Microsoft has otherwise moved past. The creator spends part of the session placing beds crafting food and building a basic spawn hub so joining players feel welcome. The excitement in the voiceover is genuine. This is not nostalgia bait. It is people making the old version work because they still want to play it together.
