Retailers now list the October 27 release with Vibrant Visuals and a refreshed Mario mash-up. Players who bought it for the original Switch are not thrilled about paying again for what many see as incremental upgrades.

Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 is now available to pre-order at major retailers ahead of its October 27 launch. The dedicated edition brings Vibrant Visuals with modern lighting techniques, volumetric fog, improved reflections and shadow effects on top of the standard Bedrock codebase.
It will also include a refreshed Super Mario Mash-Up pack with updated content and offers an upgrade path for existing Switch owners. Those details have been known since Mojang’s early August announcement, but the appearance of live pre-order pages over the weekend made the release feel immediate.

Players Are Not Impressed
Reaction online has been mixed at best. Multiple comments on the official announcement and related coverage point out that many already own Minecraft on Switch and see the Switch 2 version as a modest graphical update rather than a must-have new experience. Some noted they primarily play docked where the visual differences are harder to appreciate without a direct side-by-side comparison.
No pricing details have surfaced yet in the pre-order listings and Mojang has stayed silent on potential discounts for existing owners. The pre-order pages themselves are standard retailer placeholders with no additional feature reveals.
This is the latest example of Minecraft following its multi-platform strategy onto new hardware. Whether the enhanced edition drives meaningful Switch 2 sales or simply frustrates the existing player base remains to be seen once the game actually ships in October.
