Mojang's quarterly schedule puts the unnamed follow-up to Chaos Cubed around September 29 bringing the colorful Dappled Forest new trees abandoned camps and cozy new blocks players have been waiting for.
If you have been holding off on big building projects the clock is ticking. The next Minecraft update is expected to land around September 29 according to patterns tracked by GameSpot. That puts it roughly three months after the June Chaos Cubed drop which fits the four-smaller-drops model Mojang adopted years ago.
The headline feature is the Dappled Forest a vibrant new biome shown during Minecraft Live back in May. It features Poplar trees with a distinctive grayish tint red shrubs that ignore biome coloring and abandoned campsites stocked with chests that could contain armor tools or materials. The structures look like they will give players fresh loot opportunities without needing to dive into caves immediately.
New Building Options and QoL Changes
Beyond the biome the update adds practical new blocks. Wool stairs and planks open up softer construction styles while 16-color cushions let players sit on any flat surface. Straw beds crafted from hay bales can be destroyed after a single use and conveniently do not work in the Nether or End so no more accidental respawn resets.
No official release date has dropped yet but the September 29 window lines up with past timing and the usual 8 AM PT rollout. Snapshots for the drop should begin testing the new content soon giving the community time to break everything before launch.
