ExploitShield 6.1 Overhauls Dupe Protection on Spigot Servers

Major update improves inventory tracking and cuts false positives, giving server admins a stronger weapon against the dupe glitches that Mojang's patches keep missing.

2 min read

Dupe glitches never really die in Minecraft Java servers. Players still find ways to duplicate items on vanilla, Paper, and modded setups long after official patches land. On October 13 a widely used plugin decided to stop playing defense and rewrote its entire anti-dupe engine.

What 6.1.0 actually changed

  • Complete overhaul of PlayerDuplicationListener with smarter inventory snapshots and transaction tracking
  • Safer heuristics that catch suspicious entity inventory changes without false positives on normal shift-clicks or helmet swaps
  • Fixed custom payload bugs that could crash detection or allow bypasses
  • Resolved EQUIP_DUPE false positive that incorrectly flagged legitimate equip actions
  • Improved anomaly analysis and reporting so admins get cleaner logs instead of noise

The plugin already blocked piston dupes, hopper dupes, pearl glitches and a laundry list of other classic exploits. Version 6.1.0 makes the detection reliable enough that server owners can actually leave it running 24/7 without constant tuning. That is a bigger deal than it sounds when one bad dupe can crash an economy or hand out free netherite to half the player list.

Duping should not still be this easy in 2026. Mojang and Paper fix the headline bugs but the community keeps finding edge cases. Plugins like ExploitShield are the only thing standing between a stable server and another wipe.

If you run a Spigot, Paper, or Purpur server and you are tired of babysitting dupe reports this update is worth installing today. The resource page has the new jar and full changelog. ExploitShield on SpigotMC.

Server security is never solved. It is a permanent arms race between creative players and the people trying to keep the game fair. This update tilts the odds a little further toward the admins.
