My animation Journey began nearly 14 years ago when I as an impressionable nine-year-old child saw an OG animation on YouTube about a massacre of an entire Society of stick figures and yes I’m talking about the cliff oh my childhood I love this so I’m going down a trip on Memory lane so if you don’t care about my personal life or my motives behind this video skip to this part because I have a lot of explaining to do of course I always loved DreamWorks and Pixar animations but when I saw the Simplicity of the cliff it felt achievable so I ran Down in the comment section to ask how it’s done and I was directed to a software called pivot animator it looked like this and it didn’t have many buttons or features no tweening or free hand drawing tools or anything now that I’ve come to think of it all it did was It let you make gifs of stick figures that’s it it was bad but nonetheless I spent hours and hours every single day or at least as much as my parents let me use the computer at that time moving points around my screen and making stupid little movies about fighting Stick figures and that went on for more than a year and no I cannot show you any of those because they are far gone somewhere deep down in the dark web I have no idea I’ve been doing this for a year and around that time it was when Minecraft animations became really Popular so I did the natural thing and said I want to do that and I was ready to hit 3D how hard can it be the results led me to several different places like Cinema 4D blender Maya after effects for some reason and my response was always the Same yeah this is way too complicated and I don’t know how or when this happened but I’ve stumbled upon my animator in its early days of 0.6.2 and if you want an idea on what that looked like I’ve made a video where I revisit the whole thing but Mighty meter became My main software of choice for all the goofy animations that I made in the following 10 years now as I was doing all of that and growing a community of Minecraft animators on YouTube my original goal stayed in place one day I will be a DreamWorks level animator Working on animations in general not just limited to Minecraft so I enrolled into a multimedia High School in my vicinity it offered lectures in all areas of multimedia which also included 3D animation the school used Maya so that was my main software of choice four years later I’m using Maya in college Working on my diploma which turned out to be my worst animation project ever eye in the corner I received a lot of angry and obnoxious comments pointing me towards blender very aggressively which is why I was reluctant to use it to say the least but after what happened with My diploma and you know Maya and with all blender’s recent changes in version 2.8 I decided to give blender another go and the software that I saw in front of my eyes was nothing like the confusing Horrors that I saw as a child we’ve been chatting a lot with life and dusk about Forming a 3D animation studio and life bought us all a beginner blender course for ten dollars even though we could learn everything for free on YouTube stupid life I started using blender more I slowly fell in love and now I’m a graduated multimedia engineer working professionally in 3D industry now why am I telling you all this because I am active in my community and I know that a lot of you guys are very anxious demotivated and way too harsh on yourselves cut that out and a lot of you said that my videos gave you passion and inspiration for animation with the Frequent collabs reaction shows like the system challenges tutorials shorts and so on passion and inspiration that I very much remember as a child and I can genuinely describe it as the sunniest and happiest times of my life now I don’t do system anymore I don’t do collabs anymore no challenges tutorials or anything What happened when I was super into the tutorial era of my animator I found myself making a lot of content but it was very technical and entertaining it wasn’t much expressive videos like bori the robot where I get to tell an emotional story actually using the principles that I Taught you about or the PewDiePie video where I get to try out new things while documenting my experience or the piss bot where I get to unleash my Entertainer personality tell you all about the new project that I was working on and teach you about how 3D animation Works along the way those are the videos that I really enjoy making and I pour my heart and soul into them but there’s a big problem with that formula can you see it right there I’ll show you eight months ago four months ago one month ago It takes me way too long I feel like I don’t even exist on the platform anymore and my community reflects that it’s it’s not as active and engaging as it used to be and I think that’s really sad for a lot of people this place used to be a Sanctuary and a light of New Hope not to blow my own horn here I’ve received a ton of heartwarming and life-changing stories from people all around the world about how much my videos and the community that I’ve made has helped them and I think that bringing back challenges and collabs in the system Would be a great way to keep the channel and the community active again the problem is I’ve moved on from my animator my community has not I know that if I start another system episode now all I’m receiving is my animator submissions which is fine by itself but I no longer cover minemeter on this channel my focus is on blender and all the Limitless possibilities outside of Minecraft with all the shaders and clever Rigs and systems which are not only really fun to play with but they also let you do anything you want My goal is to bring system back and all the collabs and challenges and community events and so on but if I’m going to do that the least I can do is give you a hand and show you the realm of blender the turn that’s scary looking softer Into a close friend that you’ll love to see and once again bask in the passion of Limitless possibilities and animation that we all share on this channel right here beside me with all the collabs and community events that I want to plan for you I think a lot about the content that I could make I want to make a whole short film and turn every little segment into a tutorial so you can watch the project as it’s growing and learn about how it was made in detail along the way I want to teach you about the basic principles and Expand that into complex scenes and get creative with problem solving and explore all the various ways it could be done because there’s always more than one way to solve things discover a new shading technique toss around story ideas and invite you to participate in collabs so we can create something nice Looking together and so on I want to make an active and engaging Community again and to prove to you I’m gonna show you how simple it is to transition from animator into blender in this one video and to keep that transition even smoother we’re making a Minecraft Animation I’ll keep it very slow in tame so you can see the entire process and I’ll give you everything you need to know at a surface level if you want to learn more about blender I highly recommend blender guru’s donut tutorial it was updated for blender 3.0 and Upwards I’ll link it in the description it’s an amazing tutorial series if you’re just starting out and I guides you through all the settings all the shortcuts all the options very slowly and digestibly and it holds your hand through the entire process as you make her first ever donut in blender I’ll put A link in the description Andrew did an amazing job and now let’s begin the tutorial how to transition from minimeter into blender okay so this is what the interface looks like you have a little pop-up yours is probably gonna look a bit different you’re gonna have all the settings on customization which Which Mouse button is the select option what the space bar do and all that stuff for now I’m just gonna click General and open a scene also your scene will look like this because you’re gonna have a whole bunch of stuff in the scene already let’s cover the basics first the Move around the scene press down your scroll map scroll Mouse button like press it in and then you can orbit around if you hold down shift and do the same you will pan around and if you hold down control and do the same you will Zoom in and out but you can also you know scroll your wheel it will do the same so this is how you move I mostly just use shift and middle Mouse there’s a better method though if you want to focus on something let me select the Cube you press the comma key on your numpad to frame on that object this is now the center of my focus but I’ve also done something similar for all of you mighty medium users if you go to edit preferences and here you’ll see key map Up here in the search bar you can search for fly you’ll find you know walk fly navigation thing you can set a shortcut for this just press this and then press a combination of keys this will set your shortcut you know now that I have this Set I can press shift F and my camera pretty much behaves the same way as a mini meter camera so you can move around that way if you’re familiar with that to make your transition better if you want to go faster and slower while you’re in The fly mode you just you know scroll down your mouse key and now it’s faster and slower whatnot there’s also another feature if you point at an object and press spacebar you will automatically like using a grappling hook you will grapple towards that object and now I’m Here add the cube to exit fly mode just click click and this is your new camera position now okay let’s go over moving control so let me select the cube or camera or light or whatever if you select something you know you can press T to bring up the toolbar up here and You can you know click the moving gizmos and you know you can you can move stuff like this you have playing gizmos just like in model bench so you can press the red one it’s gonna slide along this wall you have rotation you have scale you know all the gizmos you need I Personally use shortcuts so let me tell you about those you can press G to grab and I can move the cube around and if you want to limit it to X Y or Z while you’re in grab mode you can press X Y or Z to limit the movement to only that Axis now if you click left click you will apply that motion if you click right click you will cancel that motion so it’s gonna go back or to rotate on x y z and S the scale on X Y and Z if you want to use like a plain Gizmo here you Know to move it only on the floor you can always press G to move and then instead of pressing Z I don’t want to move it on the Z so I press shift and Z so it’s going to move everything but the Z and it’s the same for rotation shift Z It’s going to use anything but Zed scale it’s gonna scale on anything but that you know it’s pretty consistent all along the way uh here we have your Transformations you can press n to hide or show it so you can you know set your values here if you’re familiar if you’re More comfortable with numbers it’s the same as a minimeter you have the snap tool so it snaps to increments you know just like with minimeter there’s a lot of similarities here is what I’m trying to say you can toggle this on or off another useful thing I guess if you want To rotate your Cube along these faces here that are facing me you can’t really do that with any of the rotation axes if you press comma it brings you this pie chart right so now it’s using Global axes so this is these are the axes of The world let me bring up the Z as well so you can see them it’s using these axes so if you press comma and go to local now it’s going to use the local space of the cube so it’s already been rotated so its axis is going to be Different than the world actually rotate X you see it’s rotating around the cubed axis because it’s using its local axes if you have any you know scale or rotation or any other value and if you don’t want to have a mess here it’s it’s very useful for simulations and stuff Generally it’s not a big deal if this is a mess if something isn’t working like a simulation or something it’s good to clean it up you can do that by pressing Ctrl a and now you can apply like location rotation scale or all the Transformations at once Boop everything Is set to zero now the cube is still here uh one problem now is though even though I have the local axes if I rotate it it’s going to use the global ones because it doesn’t have any rotation so it doesn’t know what its local axes are You have also noticed that now my cube is rotating from the center so what is wrong here this little orange dot let me move this out the way see this orange dot this is the Cube’s pivot point it’s down here so I don’t want to rotate Around here so what do I do you can go right click set origin origin to Geometry so now it’s in the very center it’s going to rotate around this point the pivot Points are very important where you have them especially for rigging and bones and stuff so I guess It’s it’s good to form a habit of having those organized once again I know it’s a lot of information to swallow really quickly but this is I’m teaching you like 90 of things you’re ever going to use after this it gets easier just like you can press comma to bring up the pie Chart to get different transformation orientations you know you can either use Global or local or the normals individual faces have normals you can understand normals better I made a video on everything about 3D I talk about these technical things so you know if you want to learn more I can still Recommend that video uh similarly instead of comma you can press a period key so you can pick from where the rotation is going to happen so if I pick say 3D cursor 3D cursor is this red thing here we’ll talk about that later but now my Pivot Point is based on the 3D cursor so when I rotate this now it’s going to rotate from the 3D cursor even though its orientation point is in here if you look at the cube though as I’m rotating the location values are also changing so this is just a tool to help You get something in a specific place if you want to animate with this you’re going to have a bad time it’s always better to just animate with the position points we’re getting ahead of ourselves if you have multiple objects selected currently they’re gonna rotate around the center because I have medium Point Selected but you can also go for individual origin so they both rotate around their own origin points or 3D cursor they both rotate around the cursor oops I’ve deleted everything how do I add things back so up here you have a menu that says add you can add Anything you want you know volumes curves text even meshes different meshes so it’s up here if you need it but again I like to work with shortcuts so if you press shift a you’re gonna get the same menu this is the same menu so let’s Bring back a cube and after I bring back a cube before I do before I click away do any other operation you can click this down here to set the size of the cube you can change its location and rotation and stuff for whatever reason this this becomes more apparent when you Add like UV spheres when an example how many second segments does it have let’s increase the segments oh it has so many segments let’s increase the Rings oh boy I think I’ve added a bit too much let’s go with five and five so it’s very pixelated but you see what this does That’s like subdivisions how many edges does it have once again I encourage you to pause the video re-watch it multiple times watch it slower you know just soak it all in it’s a lot of information for the first time ever seeing this offer you don’t need to know about half of the Stuff that I’m telling you but it’s good to know them it’s good to have them mentioned because when something Goofs you can always come back to this video and I will make more blender tutorials in the future if you’re having issues okay so in blender we have two very Important modes I’m currently in object mode as you see right here but I can press tab to go into edit mode and here I have access to individual vertices edges and faces of my mesh this is what all the meshes are based on and you Guessed it if I have a face selected I can still press G to move that individual face around or R to rotate or S to scale same controls same everything you can also do that with vertices let’s say I want this one vertex to go out of The sphere if I want to that’s how people model stuff the switch between between them you have vertices edges faces just click these three icons or press one two three on your keyboard the switch between like one is a vertex two is an edge three as a face let’s press Tab to go out of this and delete this here let’s make a cube just because pop into edit mode and I’m in face mode currently if I press a I will select all of the faces select one of the faces press I for inset this lets me inset a Face and let’s just click the apply the change let’s just do this and if you press e you’re gonna extrude right you can extrude a new face out of this these are two operations that I use very often you know just instead extrude you can also do multiple of ones so let’s select Uh by holding down shift let’s select all three faces and I think if I go into individual Origins and press I press I again yeah if you press I twice you get individual Origins here and now because I have individual Origins selected I can press e to extrude and I Will extrude three faces at once right so it’s a way to speed up your workflow let’s go back into medium point and we just made whatever this thing is another very useful thing I’m going to Edge mode right now if is if I select these edges Up on the top by holding down shift you can have multiple selections now you press Ctrl and B to Bevel if I move my mouse left and right you’ll see I’m now beveling this Edge I’m gonna give it like a little bevel and if you scroll down your mouse wheel you will add Segments to that to that bevel or if you type in five oops no that’s the size that’s not the scroll down you’re real I think it’s better click apply the change boom we have a little bevel on the top if I hop into face mode now this is what Our thing actually looks like uh let’s go back into edible because I need I want to show another thing if I hover this Edge and press Ctrl and R I’m gonna add an edge Loop so another Edge going around the center if you need more geometry and just like before you can Scroll your mouse wheel to add less and more or you can type say number three and you make three of them press press enter or click whichever one you like and now you can slide them anywhere so if you want all three of them here if You want them on this side you can click anytime to apply this change or right click the cancel and it’s just going to be centered perfectly now what you can do is let’s add some Edge Loops here and oh I want to extrude this now select This go into face mode select this face press e to extrude wow you know it’s very simple it’s very intuitive uh okay let’s press I to inset oh okay apply and now let’s scale this space on the Z only to make a little square and then let’s Extrude this one you know lots of ways to be creative with this and to just do anything you want on the other side we have sculpting tools you can jump in here you can sculpt things I I don’t have enough geometry enough pixels in here you know to do anything nice pull It this way you can use other meshes to apply different effects like this ads I don’t know what this is this is Clay it adds Clay on top this is more useful for more complex stuff I don’t have enough uh vertices but let’s say we have a rough understanding on blender and I’ll Show you how to make Minecraft stuff work for that you’ll need two things first of all is mine waste the software I will link it down in the description second you need MC prep which is an add-on for Minecraft download mcprep it’s being downloaded I’m gonna throw This on my desktop okay let’s open up mindways uh this is it very simple you have to go to file open world and it’s gonna automatically browse for your Minecraft worlds so I’m gonna open up mine all day which is what I which is the world that I’ve used for my PewDiePie animation and I have no idea where in the world I currently am view jump to player because I know my player is around more important things ah there we go scroll in and out left mouse key to move around and that’s it I think it’s right Mouse click to select stuff Yeah you want to set the depth the 55 to select all visible blocks yeah sure you can change that later this is the top down view of your world if you set the height lower you’ll cut off the mountains and the buildings and stuff if you don’t want that in the animation you Can set the depth lower or higher you will cut off like it’s it’s marked in purple everything that’s purple is going to be in the file so I have to go down a little bit to capture everything so it’s 55 the software told me okay sure let’s Say I’m happy with this I’m gonna make a new folder on the desktop just because go to file export for rendering because that’s what we’re doing I still have mine all day open because that’s the last time I use this thing uh I’m just gonna save it in this folder call it World with with a whole bunch of D’s so I know this is the one save and this pops up this scary little thing uh don’t worry about it too much I guess pause the video and copy my settings and they’ll stay the same for you forever if You really want to have everything the same but it doesn’t matter too much it’s just small new one says click OK it’s all good now in this folder I have textures file then we have the object file which is our mesh and three other textures which will you know make the Whole thing work in blender if I go back to blender remember we have the mcprep add-on on our desktop go to edit preferences we’re back into this window you see this add-ons button right here right click this we have to install the add-on into blender so we click this Button install uh I know it’s in my desktop and here it is MC prep you double click this and it’s gonna install it I already have it installed so you will see this just uh pick on the check box now the add-on is active then if you Press n you know for the sidebar you have multiple little Windows here these are some of my other add-ons but you see mcprep in here so you can open mineways which is the software we just used to export the schematic you can open it here or you can you know import an Already existing world you select you have multiple methods of importing stuff mindways is already built in so let’s go open obj world you know and I want to browse for the stuff that we’ve exported so select the obj file click import world my world is here this is what I’ve Selected uh you’ll notice there’s no textures though it’s because there’s multiple viewing mode this is the default clay Shader I guess to save on the performance so it doesn’t lag and stuff you can press this icon here to get viewport trading which are textures it’s gonna take a little while the first Time to cache all the data in and we have our little thing here you can also press the Z key or the Z key if you’re British and you also have you know the solid mode the YouTuber material you can enter wireframe so we can only see the Wires of this thing you can also you know enter render mode now I’m rendering it and this is what the end result is going to look like but there’s no lights in here yet and I’m using EV there’s two render engines don’t mind that just yet okay so the leaves are doing something Weird they kind of feel wrong while selecting the leaves you go in here in this material thing this is the material properties this is the material of the leaves okay scroll down and if you go into the settings blend mode is Alpha blend and put it to Alpha clip okay so Select the rest of the leaves go back Alpha clip that’s it if it’s not Alpha clip just one of the alphas in the blend mode you can move individual stuff if you want to if you want to separate like this I don’t like this one piece of Grass in here I hate it you can go into edit mode by pressing tab face mode and you know just select these two faces when you when you delete it’s going to ask you what to delete I want to delete the faces boom go away it’s gone it’s It’s as simple as that if you want to duplicate the faces you know shift d to duplicate and then I’m gonna press shift Z so it doesn’t go up and down and it only goes left and right and I can place it here you know so I have another patch Of grass uh why did we download the mcprep if all it does is import worlds well it doesn’t do just that you can also prepare the materials okay so let’s select everything prepare the materials uh let’s go with Zeus it’s gonna look like the Zeus Shader pack no so it’s Physically based rendering it has to do with Shades and texture notes and stuff PLC you know don’t have to understand just do what I need I said it’s going to be surface level you know if you hit render and if you set up the lights and stuff before our textures look way more Uh realistic as I did before you can also prepare them in any other way if you want to you can use the principal Shader if you want to use Reflections if you want to animate textures oh yeah yeah I want to do that I forgot to do That so anime textures I’m also going to take that on so you know textures like fire water plava they’re going to be animated as you scroll past the animation uh you can create a Minecraft sky okay let’s create a Dynamics guy with the Shader sun and moon that’s why You that’s what I used in my PewDiePie animation add clouds yes remove initial Suns so all the lights and stuff yes do that uh boom simple as that this is your outliner this is like like the library in my animator this is where all your Stuff is so you can drop this up or down you can see okay we have some black concrete we have some chains in here we have some dark oak doors and I’m just gonna collapse this because I don’t need this uh you have clouds in here which is This image and we have the MC prep sun and moon control so we’re now in the mcprep window here let’s go into the item properties yeah here we have the MC prep hour so where’s the sun where’s the stinking Sun if I go into the rendered mode blender Has two types of render engines first is Eevee this is like the real time render engine it works real time completely zero lag this is rendered mode and I can see everything around me uh the second one is Cycles Cycles is is Ray traced and it’s a little bit slower but it Gives you more photorealistic results so now I can see the sun okay let’s just use Evie for the purpose of this because it’s easier to see what’s going on and here we have the hour you can change the hour it’s gonna automatically blend between the different colors you can Also you know rotate the sun here you know the Z rotation or while you have this selected you can press R to rotate and limit on the Z if you want to to rotate your sun you have a little scene here okay cool let’s say I’m happy with This go back to MC prep you can also mess with the hour here I’m an idiot a skin swapper let’s skip that you you can this is where you swap your skins uh but first let’s let’s take a look at spawner you can collab was these different areas If you don’t want them in here let’s see the spawner you can spawn individual blocks items entities mobs mob spawners let’s not talk about mer swap yet that’s a little bit more advanced mob spawner okay uh there’s nothing in here let’s reload the assets for some reason I have To do that but it doesn’t matter it works all the stuff here I think Steve is also in here or maybe it’s human or player I think it’s player and player slim so you have the slim arms variant like I want to add a creeper spawn Creeper and it’s going to appear at the 3D cursor down here so this 3D cursor is what dictates where your stuff is gonna spawn so this is the creeper uh we have a whole new collection here so it’s always organized in folders uh you can select the creeper I’m just gonna move It up and position them down here I’m gonna press the you know the comma key to focus on it that’s why I wanted this in minimeter because it’s very practical whereas G and Zed to move it on the z-axis and while you’re moving stuff you can hold down shifts to move it really Slow for for precise control and that’s also very useful let’s rotate him on the Z only something seems to be wrong with your eyes Sir let’s click on the eyes and go into this material to see what’s up ah I see the base color which is the color of the material is completely White let’s turn this to red and if I select the background of this ah creeper eyes there’s two materials here creeper which is the skin and Creeper eyes which is the white thing because I see the base color is light so put this down to Black okay you have yourself a little Creeper or you can change the eyes to a very dark green tint or whatever you know you can customize your creeper however you want so how do you move this thing you have a whole bunch of controls around here uh you can’t move the rig as A whole if you press edit mode you will see individual bones but there’s they don’t do anything uh so instead of the edit mode we have to go into pose mode this is how you pose the character so all the highlighted bones will turn blue uh let’s say what is this let’s let’s Try to move it oh this is the bottom eyelid so if I move it up and down left left and right you see each each Direction has its own controls I’m assuming the upper one does the same so it can be sad or angry or whatever you Move them up and down to Blink what is this one this one is the explosion so like oh this is mouth either yes or no or happy creeper no mouth sad creeper let’s see this is like where he’s gonna look this is the head I’m assuming if I Rotate this another thing when you rotate stuff you can limit it on the individual axes but but if you press R twice it’s gonna move just like your mouse so that’s another good way you can pose your things and I also use that pretty often make him look up uh what is This thing ah this is kind of like the way he bends the body okay okay what is this thing this is how he bends the lower body okay so I have multiple controls here and these are the legs if you if you’ve ever seen the newest version of minimeter it has ik handles So wherever I move this uh end this is how he’s gonna move his leg also you know be careful how you rotate the feet so they’re always normal now this is the creeper rig when you’re done you can just go back to object mode you can also Do that by not pressing tab but pressing Ctrl and tab if you want to shortcut because I use shortcuts for everything okay I guess we’ve covered most of the things how do you keyframe things well you select an object let’s go into pose mode once again control tab or you know Up here I’m not gonna go into detail of Animation because I used to do that all the time on my channel and this video is pretty long I’m just gonna show you the keyframe process um I don’t want to keyframe the rotation I just want to keyframe the location so Let’s keyframe this by pressing I hover on the location and press I or if you want to add a keyframe to just X you come up here press right click you can either insert keyframes which is going to add keyframes for all of this or insert a single keyframe which is just Gonna keyframe the X but I want to add a keyframe everywhere so I’m just going to press I this timeline down here let’s move 20 frames forward I’m gonna move them here by G and then shift Z to limit it on the up and down press I again These are your two keyframes here and this creeper is going to move from one direction to another I’m pressing space for the playback of the animation this is all good let’s also add a different rotation with some overlapping action just to prove a point that how easy and Possible it is here press I on rotation on six and then I’m gonna go to 30 press r z and maybe rotate like this press I again though it’s gonna move and rotation is going to be slightly delayed overlapping action whoa it’s great you can also animate all the legs and the Head and stuff as he’s doing the same stuff you know body parts just like in my animator press control and tap to go out of this mode okay now my my 3D cursor is down here let’s press let’s hold down shift and then right click and The 3D cursor is going to jump on the surface of anything your mouse was hovering when you did right click so now my 3D cursor is here so I can add a new thing which is a light and it doesn’t spawn all the way down there but you Know it’s it’s very close so I can just position it up let’s say I want to have some Rim light here so the light is here I’m gonna go into the light setting down here change the color to something bluish for whatever reason put the power To 2000 just so the creeper gets a little bit of a blue tint maybe three thousand yeah and now do I have a camera in here no I don’t I deleted it okay so add or add with my shortcuts add a camera if you want to enter the camera View you press zero on the numpad and then you can you know move the camera with these you know press G to move the camera or like I said before I’ve set up the camera fly mode if I go in here apply you know we have this thing shift F that we set the special shortcut so shift F and I can move the camera just like I would in my animator let’s set it here if you go into the camera settings you have you know focal length which is like the field of view in my animator Except it’s more physically accurate uh if the surrounding is disturbing this is the frame the camera’s seeing so you can go to viewport display and put the put the pass pass part out that’s what it’s called put this to one it’s like a slider you Can control how it is but I find it easier to work this way so okay this is great this is now my animation okay I did something really simple really stupid you can also keyframe the camera you know I have the camera selected you just go I here oh actually I’m gonna Keyframe rotation and location and as the motion comes here move the camera this keyframe it again now if I select both of these keyframes of the camera you can press V but it’s a vector you know if I show you what this looks like on the graph uh each of these windows Can be resized and changed into anything so I’m gonna go into animation and click graph editor camera uh-huh so the curves are up here I’m gonna click normalize so everything is going to go from zero one to one so if I see these keyframes here you see the Graph if I take this one and make it go up the camera is gonna go in and back you can see the graph I was talking about graphs a lot and how Transitions and graphs how they affect I have a lot of videos where I talk about this stuff Even in my you know everything about 3D animation video you should really see that if you want to understand things more clearly uh but okay if I select everything I press V hit Vector that’s automatically going to make everything linear so the camera is always going to Be linear right it doesn’t have any ease it’s all linear you’re used to this in my animator it’s usually always linear so I’m going to change this back into dope sheet yeah so this is the one we had before now they’re not no longer you know diamonds now they’re squares to Show you that it’s linear uh if you want to have new windows you can just go into the corner of any window you want I’m gonna go with this one click the corner drag it out you have two windows oh this one is in solid mode this one is at Render mode perfectly be fine you know you can hop into the camera here zoom in a little bit and you can animate your animation and see it in the camera as you’re working just like in my animator then when you have multiple windows you can also go up here change this into Anything else let’s say UV editor oh I’m gonna click on this guy’s head and if you go into edit mode you will see this stuff I’m gonna click these two arrows so it’s gonna match what I have selected here and what I have selected here is Now the same so if I select everything I see the whole head usually you would have a picture shown here okay so I’m gonna click the drop down click the picture just to show it this is what the skin is now seeing so you can you can Select any assortment of faces and just move it somewhere else to use a different part of the skin or a different texture or anything this is how UV mapping works again my recent videos talk about this stuff but if you want to learn in detail I still recommend blender guru’s tutorial Because he does a great job explaining it better than what I’m doing right now I’m just throwing everything out you again recommend Andrews videos he’s great okay you also have Shader editors so you see the this is the material for the house this is why I don’t want to Touch on trading yet because a bit because it’s a bit more complex if you want to make a Minecraft animation this is more than enough hi this is sharp from the editing room I just want to mention that while you can mess around with Windows and change any window to Anything at all if you want to close windows let’s say I want to say this bottom one upwards you go into the corner between them grab the lower side and then drag it up if you want to open a new window it’s important where you Put your mouse so if you grab the right side of the intersection you can only drag new windows into the right if you grab the right side and drag left you will collapse it just keep in mind where you keep your mouse we’ve set up lights with animated characters we’ve animated The camera we have a sky we have everything there’s a full scene now you know except it’s a little short because you can see the edge of the world let’s not talk about that how to export the scene I’m gonna make a new folder export In now first of all we go into the camera thing we select our render engine I’m gonna use EV because it’s way faster than Cycles I don’t want to be here all day we can turn turn on some stuff like ambient occlusion you know you got little harsher Shadows on the legs look At this on off on off let’s keep it on it’s a bit more realistic uh Evie is closer to what minimators rendering does except it’s still better let’s turn on Bloom so all the shiny faces you can set the threshold set the intensity set the knee all the settings you need set the Radius on how much it’s gonna glow I don’t actually need Bloom I just wanted to show you what it can do depth of field we can set the settings subsurface scattering we can set the settings uh screen space Reflections you know so if there’s anything reflective you know Glass doesn’t do that because it’s completely transparent but you have um gold or iron which are uh reflective you can turn on screen space Reflections and it’s going to actually reflect turn this off so it’s a bit better because it’s not just half rest tracing but it’s Actually rest tracing it uh don’t need this right now you can have motion blur so things are blurry you can set everything here so you can go to color management don’t touch display device video transform filmic is usually the best you can go for a look let’s go for High contrast let’s have more contrast let’s go for not so much uh I think it’s overall pretty dark so I can make some final changes here raise the exposure up bring the gamma up okay now let’s drop the exposure because it’s a bit too much You can still hold shift if you want to go slower and make little tweaks always possible these are all my render settings I’m happy with this so now we go to the output settings this little printer icon this is where you set how the file is gonna be so you know it’s Gonna be full HD 1920 1080 standard okay aspect ratio is just uh how stretch or squash the whole thing frame rate 24 I’m Gonna Keep it here uh now frame range so our animation kind of ends at frame 32 so I’m gonna set the end to 32. now this Timeline is only going to select this I can grab this Dot and scale in so it’s easier to see outputs let’s click this icon to determine where it’s going to Output let’s go to desktop uh World Export and I call it um creeper click accept this this is the location now we Set the file format usually it’s very good to export PNG sequences not not video files but PNG sequences or even better you know exr sequences because they give you more information but let’s say PNG sequences you export the sequences and then you edit them together into a video because if the Software crashes while it’s exporting image sequences you have half of your images already saved if the software crashes while you export a video the whole video is gone you have to go from scratch you know and you know if software sometimes crashes it’s it’s better to have image sequences and Stitch them together it is possible to edit you know images together in blender there’s plenty of tutorials I can tell you everything in one video again it’s a pretty long video as it is so I’m just gonna go in here ffmpeg video you know this is illegal don’t do this I just Want to show you so encoding and Pack 4 video Codec h.264 that’s MP4 this is the standard keep it like this output quality let’s go perceptually lossless lossless is huge perceptually losses is gonna compress it but it’s the same as if it didn’t it’s perceptually lossless encoding speed I don’t I’ve never really Messed with this didn’t really make much of a difference recommend it if you have lots of time and you want the best compression efficiency ah okay so slowest takes longer but it looks better apparently and this is like it’s super fast but it doesn’t look as good I I’ve Never noticed a difference keep it at good once you have everything done everything is done you go to render and render animation and that’s it you can render a single image it’s gonna pop up a new window it’s gonna be real time so I hope it’s done so you see ah frames 32 Looks like this oh yes this also helps you if you want to go into compositing and do some compositing with the image so you know this is your image you can pause it and it also works with the exports and stuff but you know let’s just click uh render animation and That’s it and we’ll see every single frame as it’s exporting you see it’s real time it just moves so it’s really not slow people keep saying blender is slow blender is difficult we’ve made a whole animation in less than an hour and I still had to explain everything plus My whole backstory and all that stuff blender is not as difficult as as people make it seem it’s it’s really basic and oh it’s already done I was gonna I was gonna go on a little rant anyway I’ve been so used to this software it’s it’s the same like every single window you Use if I want to mess with the keyframes let’s go back to this thing if I want to mess with the keyframes oh yeah here when I switch from dope sheet to a graph I don’t have to drop this down you can press Ctrl and tab in here to toggle Between them if you want to move the keyframes Press G to move them if you want to rotate the bezer handles press R to rotate if you want to scale them actually you want to scale them you can you can you can scale the best your curves and you can completely change how The things move okay so let’s oh you know it’s very simple all the controls are identical across the board so control tab will change these two windows control tab in here will change the object pose mode you know there’s there’s a lot oops I pressed just tab by Accident there’s a lot of consistencies and it’s very intuitive fast uh easy to learn there is a little bit of a curve you know because if you come from minimeter which is pretty basic and stuff here you have all these buttons and settings and I haven’t even touched On most of this stuff yet but if you want to make a Minecraft animation you don’t even need all of this I guess one more thing that I could mention really quick is if you want to have some detail on the creeper press tab oops to jump Into edit mode yeah it’s gonna jump here because uh if I moved it like this but I’ve moved this individual bone so it’s gonna jump left and right tab into edit mode if you want to add some detail to this you can always just add some pixels I’m not supposed to do that but still extrude this oh this is again this is again very different because this thing is using subdivision modifiers to make it to make it smooth you can just add some crease oh look I have an extruded pixel on its torso wow you can make uh You know better rigs this way and it’s still going to work and move just like anything you can model your stuff however you want you can texture them you have these tools that bring Minecraft things already finished into blender so you can animate them here there’s plenty of tutorials on YouTube To really bring you into the community it’s really intuitive and easy and welcoming really blender is fun I love it it made so many things possible for me and really unleash my creativity because I was I wasn’t limited to whatever the software was giving me I Was limited to whatever I could think of right this is why I have bori driving around the capital I can have fireballs and robots and Zone and piss bots in my home area so all in all this is a crash course unorganized just throwing everything at you just so you can get The basic idea on a very surface level if you took anything away from this I will be very happy if you didn’t that is totally understandable because this tutorial was not scripted or planned or whatever I just did this I just opened my brains and chugged everything out Into the open okay if you really want to learn blender in a much more slower pace and digestible beginner-friendly way once again I recommend the blender gurus tutorial if you want to understand the core principles of 3D animation how it works and stuff I recommend my video everything about 3D animation you know Just just look at some of these things okay they’re editing sharp again if you want to learn about MC prep in general the add-on the Creator the duck cow made a full playlist talking about all the stuff and how to set up your animation so you might want to look at that as Well if you want to learn more okay so yeah I really want to give you a hand and welcome you into the whole blender area because I know what all this sounds like I’m just talking about some things nobody understands and like oh yeah it’s very simple I I’ve been there I know What it’s like but when you actually understand the basics it is very very simple and very intuitive I want to make that clear I swear this is not a cult you are free to join at your own will but you will join regardless right you will join us There’s not a question I’m not asking anymore you don’t join us anyway enough about me hope you enjoyed thank you for watching and I’ll see you
