Minecraft 1.20 Snapshot 23W13A – A New Boss, Or A Joke?

Snapshot 2313a yep not all at all just one change and a whole bunch of bugs fixed this is the sort of snapshot you might expect before a pre-release leading on to the release of the 1.20 update but I my friends have a theory as to why there’s not much in this week’s

Snapshot if we take a quick look at the calendar here you’ll see that we’re getting close to April fools which is this Saturday the 1st of April and moyang have been developing a pretty consistent track record for doing things on April fools last year is the one

Block at a time snapshot where moyang tackled the game’s inventory issues by removing it entirely leaving you to play the game holding just single block at once the year before was Minecraft plus somewhat of a throwback to the old expansion packs for Windows 95 and 98 where you could get additional

Screensavers and the screen savers in this pack were of course Minecraft themed in 2020 we had one of the best April fools ever with the infinity snapshot this snapshot allowed you to throw a renamed book into another portal and the name of the book would then create a dimension based on that name

Into the bugs of this snapshot do stick around because I’m going to be covering some common and Corrections and interesting things from last week’s snapshot too after we get through those bugs and as always I like to try and cherry pick the ones that are actually

Decent to know about and so if you ever seen mobs that are riding another one doing this odd sideways quirky kind of movement this has been patched out in this snapshot turns out that the camel could actually swim while it was in its sitting State and you should no longer

See this although it did look really amusing the camel could also get stuck with its Dash animation when it was riding in a boat like you see here uh completely ludicrous that’s patched out the look of holding a brush in third person has changed this right here looks

Much much better and so have the particle animations for suspicious sand and suspicious gravel they now kind of like flop over to the side if we swing around to the other side of the block you’ll see they go across in the way that we are sweeping a very nice little

Detail that’s been changed there as for the rest of these bugs I don’t think many of these were worth mentioning but a few of them were get mentioned as we go over things from the last snapshot like the pitcher plant which had rather predictably with new blocks and items

Adding to the game been left out of all of the relevant tag lists which also included missing a CD Place advancement anyways what is far more disappointing is that when you break the Farmland below this block it now pops off if we do this in last week’s snapshot we’ll

See when we break the Farmland that the plant remains now this is cool because you could use it decoratively with other blocks of your choice which I think is a really good argument for actually keeping this Behavior but as ilmango pointed out in his Snapshot video this actually has a downwards facing hitbox

Meaning that to get through this Gap I’d have to hold down shift you can think of this like the fence post where although it looks to be the same height as the block next to it we all know of course that it’s a little bit higher which you

Can see when you walk above it and so if the pitcher plant was able to remain like this it would have a whole bunch of technical applications as there’s no other block that has a downwards facing hitbox in the game and I might be getting my terms muddled here I think

I’m trying to say Collision box right it is a bit of a shame to see that change go there are some other changes too though for example right clicking with bone Mill will always now grow this one stage at a time whereas previously it could grow multiple stages at a time and

There was also a bug where using bone mill on the upper half of the plant wouldn’t count which it now does oh yeah and these plants have been sort of popping off at random is that a bug and lastly I had quite a few comments asking

Me to make suspicious stew with this to find out what effect it gives you but as you can see it doesn’t work this is probably an oversight as the torch flower that was recently worked also creates a suspicious stew and now for some sniffer changes last week there was

A 10 chance of getting a moss block from a sniffer when you killed it and that’s been removed there were also some interesting observations with the sniffer egg that I missed for example you can actually move this thing with a piston pretty cool right this block

Could also also be popped off by water which is different behavior from the turtle eggs so those two have now been made consistent and of course you can’t waterlog either of these next I would like to address last week’s explanation of the calibrated skulk sensor because I

Basically did a terrible job I was grappling with why this thing wasn’t working and eventually I’ve sussed it out I made a big mistake the book here has 16 pages and signal strength goes as far as 15. so it threw all of my signals

Off by one and as I was trying to figure that thing out I was also trying to explain it and just using completely the wrong language and so now we have a correctly configured book with 15 pages but an explanation of what that signal strength is for is available on each and

Reading my comments I’ve changed my thinking which is a good thing you should always be open to change many of you informed me that there are actually a lot of archaeological digs that have revealed colorful structures and sometimes the colors that are painting on walls are actually preserved under

The ground so it’s not uncommon at all to actually dig and find colorful artifacts and many of you also pointed out that finding things like broken glass signs candles flowers these would be pretty typical things to find at an archaeological dig site so yeah I’ve absolutely changed my thinking on this
