Today ladies and gentlemen of the internet i’m going to teach you how to build an entire castle from start to finish and look i’ve built a lot of castles in this game most notably the mountaintop castle in this same survival world while that castle is great and all today I want to go even bigger and over the past few videos of mine i’ve been constructing this town for my villagers always an excuse to build a giant castle and the entire time i’ve had my eye on a spot right by the water that’s gonna suit this build Perfectly and so that leads us to step one of building a castle location is key now obviously i’ve had this perfect spot planned out from the start but what makes it so good well castles are made to defend and so you’re going to want to pick a very defensible position And so something like a mountaintop or somewhere surrounded by water is going to be exactly what you’re looking for and personally i’m not exactly satisfied with the way this terrain is looking so we’re gonna have to do a little bit of landscaping just to get this place ready but before we get to Any of that i’m gonna build the entire layout of the castle here just to make it easier for myself to know where i need to terraform step two of the castle building process is arguably the most important and that’s the layout and there are several different parts you need to include to Make the process a bit easier and the first thing i’m going to be adding is a gatehouse which i’m laying out on the blue here and moving on we have the basic walls and anytime you see me using red that’s what’s going to be going there Next up we got towers and buildings and all the towers are going to be laid out in green now obviously any great layout needs to account for the verticality of the castle meaning the skyline has to look great and be planned out from the start so that’s why i made this long diagonal Wall so that you’re going to be able to see the main tower over it from the water next up we’ve got the throne room building which i place closest to the shore so we can add an awesome balcony overlooking the ocean i also want some docks below the castle So i add another gate in pink on the water side which connects up to another tower on the corner now finally i just need to connect the two corners but in the middle i add what’s going to be the main part of the keep and the tallest tower Of the castle and note that it’s exactly opposite from the diagonal wall on the other side now that we have a layout to work with i decide to light up what’s underneath the castle and place a temporary cobblestone floor where the courtyard’s gonna be and the final step before we can start Building is connecting the layout to the terrain by doing some landscaping which isn’t always necessary but something i really enjoy doing to make my builds look unique and if you’re looking for a landscaping guide or just to get better at terraforming in general there will be a video on that In the future now that we’re finished with all the preparations i think it’s time we just start building this thing and i want to start with the gatehouse because this is the first thing you’re going to see when you approach the castle so i think it just makes sense to start There now my plan for this gatehouse is to have an archway here with some castle crenellations and some kind of a-frame atop it so i’m going to start by bringing up the outer frame here 11 blocks then i think i’m going to add a smaller frame here that’s going to be seven Blocks tall now the plan is gonna be to have two windows up there so we need to add another archway here on the larger frame and the way we’re gonna get these windows in here is by adding some upside down stairs to the top here and then We’re gonna just put some nether brick fences in and i really love the slight purple tint of nether brick fences all right this is looking good let’s add the crenellations to the top and i think we first want to just bring up some of these walls along the wall here and so First off we’re just going to round off the windows with some upside down stairs and then we can add the top to this thing i would say that’s looking pretty awesome so far now obviously we need to build one of these towers here so what i Think we want to do is add another window on the side and so i’m just going to bring this up eight blocks now this is where it gets kind of tricky because i want staircases coming down to the courtyard on the back side so we’re probably gonna want some Staircases coming down from the top into the towers and so we’re gonna slowly but surely taper this down now that we have our window in i think we can add some extra detail by just having some of these pillars coming out with some stairs on Top and obviously we need to add a ton of texturing to this place but i’ll get the shape in first just to get the general idea and for the towers i think i want to go a bit taller than the actual top here so maybe like 13 blocks tall now look Obviously we can’t leave this thing a big tube we’re gonna have to add some details to the sides of it and add a lot of texturing i think we’ll put the window at the same level as these windows just to make it look a bit more congruent and look traditionally i Haven’t really been a guy that’s used anvils a lot while building but i think they could go perfectly as a railing right here we’re gonna have a lot of different kinds of towers on this castle and i think i gotta go through every single design so that you guys can Build them for yourselves if you want to and so first off i’m gonna go with the prismarine trim here just because it looks a lot like copper unfortunately we don’t have copper in the game quite yet as of right now but for now i’m gonna use a combination of Prismarine and bricks and after placing these upside down stairs we’re gonna want some warped trapdoors and then we’re gonna add some slabs on the end of these and we’re actually gonna add one right below here as well then we’re just going to want to top These off with a slab on top of the trapdoors and the bricks are actually going to be textured in first off we’re going to place one of these terracotta blocks in each of the corners and create sort of a pyramid shape then we’ll put slabs in each of these corners And some stairs up top here on these blocks after that we got two blocks in every single corner like so and then we’re gonna wanna raise these up one more block and put another stair on there then finally we’re gonna go up two blocks two walls like this And two fences and since this is gonna be a flagpole we’re gonna top it off with a iron bar and a pot just like so and we can add our flag but before we do so we just wanna sprinkle in some bricks every here and there once You’ve textured it up a bit we want to go to each of the corners here and add some walls with some fences and iron bars on top you’re also going to want to come up one block diagonally here and do it for these ones as well So now you got a tower looking like this and all we’re missing is a flag and so we’re gonna use the same concept we’ve used over in the town here with the red and the yellow oh yeah i think that’s looking really solid i love the combination of bricks And prismarine now obviously it’s looking a little bit plain with just so much andesite so i’m to texture this up a little bit and start working on the other tower we’re just going to mirror the exact same thing and that way we can move on now as you guys understand from the size Of this gatehouse this isn’t a block by block tutorial but hopefully the block by block tutorials for the towers and the general tips i give you guys should equip you to build your own castle at this point the gatehouse is looking pretty good but it’s missing a little Something i think we can make it look a lot cooler if we put a giant a-frame right here i’m going to start off by building up these walls all right as you guys can see i’ve turned this into more of a structure and we have our archways in and we also have some Visitors checking it out and the way you’re going to get up to this wall is i want to add a couple of staircases here on either side but first i think we want to add in the actual gate itself nice that is perfect now we need to move on to the Staircases here and for these i think we’re gonna go three wide and do stone brick stairs and polished andesite in the middle all the way up so here’s the deal now we have the staircase coming all the way up here and i guess we can actually add a few more of these anvils And this means we’ve got a nice staircase up here but we can also add a little door into the tower so i’ve brought this up a little bit and made it very castly and i think it’s time we build this roof trim now the plan here is to create kind of a Gradual slope and so that way we get a frame looking something like this but i’d also like to replace some of these stairs so they’re upside down that way we can add some more decoration i think that’s looking really tidy so let me do that on the other side here And actually get the roof in and i will be right back with you guys now i don’t know about you but i am totally in love with the combination of prismarine and bricks it just looks so awesome and since we’re building our entire castle out of greystone it’s Going to be up to things like the roof and flags to add a splash of color to this place and i decided to add some detail to the front here adding a way to get into the building itself and since the backside was just a sheer face of Andesite i decided to make it a bit more interesting by adding a balcony facing the courtyard but now that we’re done with the gatehouse let’s move on to the walls all right now right before we go on ahead and start building up the walls there’s something i really want to check Down in the village here and that’s what we’re going to see in terms of view oh yeah this castle is going to look crazy good but yes you can actually still see the church in between here that’s awesome at least the tower i’m definitely going to give you guys The view from down here when the castle’s finished as well but next up we have the walls and my biggest tips when it comes to the walls is you need to make a design that you can repeat infinitely and preferably you want this design to be able to be repeatable on a Diagonal and every kind of angle as well because as you can see i’ve got a five block diagonal right here we’ve got a full on one block 45 degree angle right here and then we got a three block diagonal here and so i’m going to start working On a design that i can repeat and show you guys my findings personally i don’t like my designs to be too complicated and we could just go for an open air wall with like castle crenellations like this but i think i want to do something a little bit more Interesting and have sort of a tunnel yeah we’ll do something like this and then put a roof on it but i just want to add some detail to the wall here before we do that all right there we go now we’ve got our basic wall design In and so the repeatable part of our design is these two walls creating one little window like this and then you just do that over and over again so what i’m gonna do to speed along this process a little bit is i’m gonna take every single one of these red zones here And build up the walls so that we can focus on the big juicy bits so let me just get some materials in order and we can get this built i figured i’d get all the repetitive parts of the build sorted right away even though it looks kind of weird right Now with the walls not connected to anything and already guys there’s been an insane amount of work put into this video so consider tapping that like button if you enjoy it and let me know what your favorite part of the castle is once it’s finished and if you’re not Subscribed yet making way too ambitious things in survival like this is what i do here so feel free to turn the button from red to gray but for now i think we’re perfectly situated to build the larger towers so as soon as these walls are up i will see you guys On the other side so right now this is looking very incomplete but i think it’s time we just tackle these green towers on the sides and to be perfectly honest towers are the easiest part of a castle to build step one of building a tower is insanely Simple you just built a large box and fill it all in then you just want to add some detail to your big block of stone i usually recommend just using some stairs and slabs trying to make some archways maybe put a door on there this fisherman seems To be admiring it yeah i know man it’s pretty cool and on the back side i did what works on any castle to be honest just using some pillars like this connecting to the wall but really the main thing to think about is you want your tower to get skinnier as it gets Taller and once we’ve started tapering it in like this we can start making it really tall and i mean about this tall so it’s about as tall as this right here but with the spire on top it’s gonna be gonna be quite a bit taller and a huge Help for adding detail on castle builds like this is to indent your walls one block this is just gonna allow us to put in a lot more depth already as you can see we have these pillars tapering off the tower a little bit making it look skinnier one good way To add depth is to just add a line of walls like this along the edge and then we’re just gonna round off the top with some slabs here and i think that leaves us the perfect space here for a large window looking out over the courtyard Yeah this is looking pretty clean but i do want to actually try something here that’s going to add some color to it oh yeah that looks beautiful we’re definitely going to have to use that more in this build and i think all we have the space for Here on the shorter sides is to just do some windows so i’m gonna put that in on both sides this side even gets a little flower box and then the outside here has a great view of the church and just in general aventi over there so i think we’re gonna Add a balcony i think that’s perfect i think we can move on to the top of the tower here which i’m very excited for man i’m not even halfway done with this thing and it’s already dwarfing the church that’s crazy so i’m going to try to do something kind of interesting here And make it sort of like a chess rook like a classic castle tower except i also want it to have a spire at the top so we’re gonna try to make that work somehow and i think if we start just building something like this out and taper it out A little bit as we go along that’ll be fine okay now that we have the base here let’s bring it out maybe something like this in fact we could even create a rounded look around the windows here okay now that we have it sort of hanging Out and over like this it’s time to create the spire up top and we’re gonna do something really similar to what we did over on these mini towers on the gatehouse now the basic plan here for the roof is to make it seem like there are four Mini towers here in the corners this is also what the professionals call foreshadowing for the big tower and then i guess we’ll just start tapering this up on kind of a steep angle this time we want this thing to be really pointy you know i think this is Gonna look really sweet we need to add a really large flag and a few of those spikes on the corners we even have a wandering trader visiting our fine establishment you know looking at this i really think it’s all coming together but before we call this first tower finish there is a Final detail i’d love to add and it’s something you see a lot on fantasy towers they have like a little mini tower sticking out from the tower and i think something like that could look really cool on this side and so i think we could start all the way down here and We’ll just build it like it’s sticking out diagonally from the wall here and at the bottom we’ll make sure it looks like it’s coming down onto a point and since this is a 3×3 tower we’re going to use the exact same tower design that we’ve used for these smaller towers right here We’re just going to use the same pallet that we’ve been using for the rest of the castle it is going to be peeking up kind of over the railing here but i think that’s going to be fine but it doesn’t actually get in the way of the walkway here so let’s actually check This out i haven’t seen what it looks like and okay that looks really awesome so now that we have our first tower down here there’s actually one over here in this corner that’s gonna be really really similar i’m just gonna use the same principles and start building it right now And so i start building the next tower doing exactly that using the same principles as before trying to get as much detail in as possible and i envision having some bridges and staircases leading up to this particular tower to make it kind of hogwartsy hogwartsy can you really use that as an adjective Either way you guys know what i’m talking about spirally staircases and diagonal bridges that type of thing and going back to the planning as you can tell we now have two smaller towers on either side of the castle which is meant to balance out the huge tower That’s going to be going in the middle and in the time lapse i decided to construct this part that was left between the walls which is going to be connected to the central tower and this is going to be the feast hall so i made Sure to build it quite large so we have a lot of space to work with on the inside i left the back part open since it’s going to be connected to the tower anyway but went with the same kind of pointy roof design as earlier when building the gatehouse just to keep the Style consistent and i gotta say it’s so satisfying to see the walls get finished i’ve been very excited to build this castle for a really long time now so seeing it come to life and survival like this is really awesome and listen if you want to see more cool builds like this Or share your own creations you should really come join the discord server the link is down in the description and the community is full of awesome people and some really fantastic builders so definitely make sure to stop by but when i finished the dining hall section of the wall i felt the pointy Corner was a bit rough so i added another one of the small side towers which i really feel sealed the deal you don’t want to go overboard with things like that but this time i think it really improved it but guys i think it’s time we hop back into first Person and build some of the bigger sections of the castle so i will see you guys on the other side you know so far i think this is looking pretty swell but it’s only the front that’s looking this complete because if we take a look at the back Well we got a big part missing right here so i think we should tackle that next and get the walls totally finished before we do the central tower in the courtyard so i plan for this section to be the throne room and we’re gonna have windows facing either side And then for this side that’s facing the ocean i’d like to build some kind of larger balcony but we’ll see if we have to do some additional terraforming just to fit that in and you guys know what time it is it’s once again big box time so i’m gonna Just lay out the foundation for this building and we can start adding in the details together okay as you can see we’ve got a pretty big shape boxed out here and i did try to save myself some andesite in these spots where we’re gonna make extensions like the balcony here or this Part that’s gonna be connected to a staircase because i’m running the risk of running out of andesite here so gonna try to be as frugal as possible because while i’ve been collecting lots and lots of resources for this specific purpose this is all the andesite i have left and We got a lot of building to go but i think we can focus on the sides here before we do the complicated part of building the balcony and i think i just want to create some rounded arches here on the bottom side maybe add some windows there we go i think that’s Looking pretty clean and we can move on to the top part here and this is going to be the window that shines into the actual throne room this is the final product and it is a little bit stoney a bit gray and on these walls we’re not going to have an A-frame that sticks out over the edge in fact we’re just going to put blocks down like this and then on every other block we’ll do one of these little spikes i think that adds a lot more life to it and i think it especially will when we add the whole Orange roof as well so let me get that in and the spikes on the other side and we can start working on the balcony now the balcony side is going to be a bit more complicated than anything else and i played around with a lot of Ideas in a test world for this and came up with basalt as the block to use because so far we’ve been using a lot of stone and everything just kind of blends together but we want this to definitely stick out and we’re gonna want the balcony to come out a bit here so I guess i’ll dot one right here okay so i’ve gotten a bit carried away the way i normally do but as you can see we’ve got these basalt pillars and i used some stairs here to bring it out because we’re gonna want our balcony to be pretty big okay so my Original plan here for the balcony and the reason why basalt works so well is because i want to use these anvils and isn’t that the most satisfying sound in the game i just think these colors fit really well and it’s kind of harsh against the stone like it’s a bit too dark And so using these together i think we can create something that’ll look pretty cool you know something like this with some archways i feel like this could look really cool especially if we add another top balcony here now we are going to need ways to get out onto these Balconies so i’m going to have to add some doors and for the top door i think we want to do another a-frame so i’m just going to make a simple frame like this and we’re going to do the exact same thing we did over there with the spikes and the Prismarine now for the bottom section here i think it would be cool if we use just oak trap doors as the windows that way it just won’t look like a gray blob as you’re looking through here from the outside and you know what i think that works for Me especially once we have the interior in later and like i said it does look a little bit more interesting from the water now that we have a wooden color and i think just a regular door like this for the top sections gonna suffice and that pretty much covers it for this Side i really love the greenery there is however one more thing i’d really like to add and that’s a few of these mini towers on the corners i think it would look really awesome if we added one on each of the corners of this building so Let me get that done and i will be right back with you guys to tackle the side on the inside of the courtyard and as you guys can see in the time lapse here the replay mod didn’t quite render all the blocks on the roof but i Can assure you they are fine in the actual game and man does this look awesome with the mini towers but there’s a reason i opted to do this part last because i want to put the entrance right here and i kind of want this staircase that leads all the way From the entrance here sort of spiraling up towards it and if you guys know anything about building spirally stairs this is gonna be a nightmare now i started laying down this pattern here on the courtyard and i think i want my stairs to start about right here and Then they’ll go forward and then sort of curve around the wall here and go up this way that way we can have another staircase leading all the way up to the tower okay so i think i’ve put together something that’s gonna work here the problem is really gonna be filling This in with slabs and making it look good so give me a sec to try to figure that out oh boy you know what i don’t think that’s too shabby that’s gonna do the trick for sure now i do think we could add some of these anvils on the sides to create some Kind of railing and just some smooth stone slabs on top of these should look really good now up top here we have this space and the reason i wanted to get this stair up here is because i want to create kind of a platform here so we’ll Extend this out now as you can see this platform lines up with the center of this tower right here so we’re going to have a bridge and another archway going under it here on the courtyard that leads into the central tower and then on this side it actually lines up perfectly With this tower right here so we can put another staircase here in fact i think that’s what i’m gonna do right away and so the staircase and part of this bridge here are in but we’re gonna think more about those later when we’re filling in this gap for now i think we Need to focus on this part and we need to remove this trim so we can do something more interesting and we’ll go for a very castley design here with some correlations and so in the end i went with some nether brick here as well i think that’s Going to be a good entrance to the throne room and right before we can turn our attention to the big central tower here which i’m really looking forward to we gotta address this section over here and this is gonna be one of the easiest parts to build i Just have to fill this whole thing in with andesite and add a large archway so i’ll see you guys as soon as that’s done and like i said earlier guys if you want to see the docs get built below the castle here let me know in the comments And as you can see here in the time lapse i felt the corner was a little bit too jagged so i decided to add this overpass up top connecting the throne room building to the tower and it allowed me to add a little bit more extra detail And i’m really happy i did because it makes this corner of the castle look so much better now that the walls finally go all the way around i think it’s time for the main attraction what do you think mr villager that’s what i thought and so as you guys Know we’ve got the bridge here going into the building but we also have down here what i think i’m gonna do is make it so that that’s the entrance to get up into the tower and then we’ll have the entrance into the mess hall right here So let me just get the base of this situated basically i’m gonna build pretty much the exact same design as over here mirrored on this side so let me get that done and i’ll be right back with you guys alrighty that took me a ton of time but for you it’s Just an instant and right now it looks like this which uh isn’t much i guess but i’ve created the bottom part of the tower and i wanted to add the details on each side with you guys since it’s gonna be different for each one but just to show you guys how Much space i’m gonna have in here for interior decorating it’s gonna be it’s gonna be a lot now what i wanna do with this side right here is i wanna try to add a giant flag because otherwise there’s not much i can do with this to be honest It’s been brought to my attention that the flag i used for this area is actually the scanian flag but i guess this is a shout out to you if you live in scania there we go nice big flag to look at i think it fills out the space quite nicely right There and adds some color to the courtyard now next up we’ve got this side and i made this little bridge where you can walk under that’s going to lead to the entrance of the tower and if you walk under it here you can see that we actually get to the other entrance here That’s going to lead to the docks and maybe this is where we could have our stables or something i’m not quite sure you guys are going to have to tell me what we should do over here because at some point we’re going to have to do an interior episode as well i’m not Going to be able to get to that in this one but definitely let me know what we should do over there so the plan here is to create a pretty grand looking entrance i think the top of the tower is where the royal family’s gonna be living so my thinking Is that we use the same kind of style we have before with these anvils like this and hopefully this should look pretty good oh yeah that’s gonna be perfect now when it comes to the other sides of the building here this one already has this building and On this side i didn’t really know what to do with the small space so i just put a small balcony right there now i want this tower to be big and i mean really big like towering over these smaller ones so i’m gonna make it a lot Skinnier and then have it come out and have a big tower on top but before we do any of that i think i want to make some turrets on the side here but i’ll be back with you guys right after i build these pretty generic castle turrets so that we Can get to the most interesting part of the build that i think is going to tie it all together and as you can see here i put in the turrets on three of the four sides and they kind of act like balconies on each of the sides but for the final side i Decided to connect up the diagonal bridge to the tower since it lines up exactly right and this is what i was talking about earlier about the hogwarts business because it’s sort of crossing over a bunch of other stuff in the end i think it was exactly what Was needed now we can actually start building the final tower and what’s gonna make the skyline of this place look super epic now this thing is gonna have to be really tall okay so right now we’re at y106 we’ll see how tall this thing actually gets in the end My plan here is pretty much to build some big frames so that we can have a bunch of windows going around this tower as you’re walking up it and as usual the parts that are missing here we’re just gonna move it back one block now as per Detail i’m gonna add two floors of windows we’ll probably do the first one like right here and i decided to bring back the prismarine so we’re just gonna splash in the aquamarine highlights like this and hopefully this should look pretty good and indeed it does it looks pretty Awesome now we need to worry about this thing actually getting wider here towards the top because i want a really big tower have i made it abundantly clear how big i want this tower to be yet because like i want it to be really big you know how i said i was foreshadowing When i was building these little copper bits here to represent four towers on each side well that’s what we’re gonna do we’re gonna build a serious tower on each of the corners here i mean right now not gonna lie kind of looks like four ice cream cone Holders but we’re gonna work on that by bringing these up see that’s a lot better uh yeah okay i know it still looks weird let’s put the tops on these things now we’re coming up on the final stretch here guys and before we move on to building the giant spire Up top here i just want to talk to you guys about the skyline of your castle i know i told you earlier that the layout is super important but your 3d layout your vertical layout is also super important just take note of how i spaced my towers out just so they all Don’t get in the way of each other now apart from the big spire the only part we have left are these windows right here and the plan is to kind of outline our windows and then use some of this dark oak as a background hopefully it’ll contrast real nice yeah I think that fits in really nice in the background here it’s not going to be too prominent yeah you can only slightly see it through the cracks i think i like that now just so the grand reveal is gonna be that much more satisfying i’m gonna build the top spire here off Camera and hop into some shaders and give you guys the final look oh my goodness i can’t believe i’ve done this in a single episode this is so crazy looking and i’m gonna be perfectly honest i think this might be the most beautiful thing i’ve ever built in this game Let’s take a look from the sky here what do you guys think about the village now huh this is not looking too bad i’m just in shock i did extend a few of the fields here as you can see these ones that aren’t grown i think they should be right up Against the castle walls that looks so amazing with the winding path like this oh the shulker monster it took to make this happen yeah buddy i’m glad you’ve been here at my side the whole time yeah i’m just lost for words guys i’m gonna have To leave the words for you guys in the comments in fact just to give you guys a proper look at this place i’m gonna try to put together an epic cinematic so ladies and gentlemen let’s take a look So So ladies and gentlemen of the internet if you enjoyed this video make sure to leave it a like and if you enjoy this type of video this is what i do on this
