Hello everyone sally here and welcome back to another episode of bug rock of the week today we’re gonna be looking at the newest 1.17 beta for minecraft bedrock edition and this is another absolutely huge beta that changes a ton of stuff about the underground cave generation drip stone generation Introduces a fair bit of seed parity between bedrock edition and java and also comes with of course some very mysterious and vague mob spawning changes as is a tradition for these betas one of the first things that you might notice about this beta is that everything below y0 is now being Generated out of deep slate in previous betas it was all generated out of stone so it was very plain and boring but now as you can see there is so much more life being breathed into these caves above us you can see a ceiling that is Just underneath a white level zero so if we fly up here you can see that we’re at y and negative four so you have a nice little transition between the stone layers above zero and the deep slate layers that are below zero and that is just a really cool thing now real Quickly i would like to point out that there is actually an iron or vein over here in this area and it’s actually gonna be relatively easy to spot these things below zero because all of the tough blocks are gonna stand out pretty massively against all of the deep slate Furthermore there’s also the raw iron blocks that are gonna be standing out pretty well as well and as you can see this iron ore vein continues across this entire area so you actually have a plenty of opportunities to spot it there are three changes when it comes to drips Down generation first of all it can now generate below y0 of course and second of all the drip stone features and clusters will only generate within drips down biomes so that is of course a new cave type biome where you can find just an absolute ton of drip stone this means That you shouldn’t see little patches of drip stone just like in random caves across your world you’ll have to actually go exploring to find a drips down biome cave in order to get some drips down in your world or of course buy some drips down from a wandering Trader overall this is going to make the stuff a little bit rarer but not really as you can see there’s kind of a lot of it all over the place so it’s just going to make it more concentrated in two areas and make it so that you don’t find Like just a little bit of it at a random cave somewhere with absolutely no other drips down basically if you find some drip stone there’s going to be a lot of it around and it’s going to blend together really nicely a new mountain biome has been added specifically stony Peaks this is basically a copy of snowy peaks but instead of having snow and ice it is all stone and gravel in previous betas snowy peaks were generating next to hot biomes and in general places where it would be too hot for snow and ice to form so instead of having like a Bunch of snow next to your savannah we’re now gonna have just a bunch of stone next to the savannah and as you can see it doesn’t look all too bad you can also notice that we’re getting goats on top this mountain because it is a regular mountain range there’s also a Lava lake up there and all of the regular ore generation that you would expect to see as well this change has been introduced to java and bedrock as you can see it’s a pretty tall mountain range as well it goes all the way up to why 158. We also have some changes and updates to the mountain meadows biome basically just changing the vegetation as you can see there is an absolute ton of flowers absolutely everywhere now tons and tons of dandelions and poppies for all the bees and it just looks like a beautiful little meadow it’s nearly as densely Populated with flowers as a standard flower forest biome is and conveniently we have one of those right next door so you can see how many flowers this area gets as you can see the meadows biome is pretty jam-packed something that i was personally very curious about is clouds As of 1.18 they are going to be changing cloud height from 128 which is this layer and about that tall all the way up to a y 192 which is significantly higher like clouds are really really really up there now and as you can see that is just a Massive difference as that of course is to complement the much higher build height that we have and of course to complement the absolutely massive mountains this change is actually a really good one because now at the tops of some mountains you’re just gonna be barely over the cloud layer and it Honestly looks so good having the clouds this far up regularly on a mountain this size the clouds would be all the way down far below that green layer i mean look how cool that cloud looks it’s just going through the top of this mountain like nobody’s business and honestly it’s just really awesome I don’t know man i just like clouds if you don’t play with clouds on then i i don’t know if we can be friends i mean look how nice and fluffy they are one final change for mountain biomes the changelogs mentioned that infested stone can only be found under new mountain Biomes i have a feeling that means like actual real mountains and not extreme hills like we had previously so if you’re mining under an extreme hill you shouldn’t find any more infested stone or silverfish but if you’re mining under a proper real mountain then you should start to see infested stone and Silverfish in the mines there’s also a bunch of rather vague changes such as tweaking biome placement river size and terrain shapes for a better overworld experience that doesn’t really tell us that much besides the fact that mojang is tweaking and changing little things here and there to improve the overworld And so far it just looks so good like every single beta and every single snapshot that they put out with the new terrain generation is totally stellar probably the most exciting thing about this beta is the fact that it has brought a seed parity to minecraft bedrock edition and java edition as well So on the right you can see minecraft bedrock edition and over here on the left you can see minecraft java edition and this is the same world seed technically it’s different on both platforms because of some magic stuff i don’t understand it thank you to a commenter on toy cats a recent video About seed changes for mentioning that it needs to be different on both platforms because of magic anyway as you can see this is the spawn point of the world the coordinates are basically exactly the same and if we look forward you can see the general terrain generation is just about the same as Well however you’ll notice that there is actually more grass and flowers and leaves and all that kind of stuff is actually in different placements between the two versions if we turn to the right of world spawn you can see that we have basically the same little mountain range Java edition has a couple more streams and a lot more cave entrances whereas bedrock edition has just the one main cave entrance over there if we turn to this direction you can see that we have a nice big mountain range over there as well with the same general hole in it However the tree layout is of course a different on both platforms looking at this river shape you can see that it’s about the same on both platforms as well it even has this really nice like crescent cave ravine in it on java edition if we switch over to a bedrock You can see that that’s not there however the general shape of the river is still approximately the same and if we look off into the distance we can see much further on bedrock edition just due to the render distance but even like this little pointy mountain is there and This little island and this cave is there if we look at that on java edition you can see that it’s approximately the same as well we got the little pointy mountain we got the little island thing but no cave so mojang is doing a lot of work between platforms to bring a parody Ever closer however there’s still going to be a pretty big disparity between bedrock and java because of the one simple reason that bedrock edition has 32-bit seeds and java edition has 64-bit seeds so that means that java edition has something millions and millions and millions more possible world seeds however where there Is overlap between bedrock edition and java those seeds should be pretty much the same now keep in mind any world seed that you can use on bedrock edition you can also use on java edition and that means that you should have basically the same world between platforms To an extent there’s still a lot of work to be done in this area of course it’s not perfect however it is a fantastic step in the right direction so i went ahead and teleported to a thousand a thousand on both bedrock edition and java and you’ll notice that there are Some slight differences between the two for instance on java edition we have this nice little savannah village right here the generation of structures is of course going to be very different between platforms and of course we also have a bit of a biome difference between These two as well as you can see on bedrock edition we have a bit of a desert over here whereas there is a little bit more savannah over here on java edition so of course we can point out differences all day long however one similarity that is really really awesome That i would love to share with you is this little mountain range right here go ahead and take a look at that and then we’ll take a look at this on java edition as well and you can notice that basically all of the blocks are exactly The same on both java and bedrock there is some very slight differences in the core generation and like where the gravel blocks are where there is a block on bedrock edition in this mountain there’s a block on java edition as well and that is just so cool and so Impressive and mojeng did an amazing job achieving this seed parody and i absolutely love that this kind of parody has been addressed head head-on and that such a cool progress has been made on it seriously gg mojang you guys are doing some amazing work there’s been a slight Tweak as to the locator map it will now properly show the colors of blocks below y zero as you can see we are below y zero and is correctly showing the color of all of this deep slate if we place down a bunch of diamond blocks you can Also see those pop up on the little map as well which is pretty cool i know several of you guys have had questions about if slime chunks are extending down below y zero and it would appear so i have multiple slimes spawning this area As far down as a negative 55 so it would appear that slime chunks go from 40 all the way down to negative 64 which is kind of tall that’s going to make for some interesting farms i haven’t seen any changes or mentions of two oceans however bear with me for a second i’ve Noticed something pretty cool so all along this coastline here you can see the very light blue waters of the coral reef so that is a warm ocean biome and then beyond that we have slightly darker waters extending all the way off into the horizon i would assume that is a lukewarm ocean going Pretty far out and then one layer beyond that is a darker layer of ocean which i would assume is a deep ocean deep warm ocean and then beyond that is another layer of darker water where we probably have a deep cold ocean and then as you Can see it gets over to icebergs i’m not sure if they have actually changed anything with ocean generation but this area right here is a pretty cool example of like the different gradients that you get going from cold waters to warm tropical waters and honestly it just looks pretty awesome you’ll also notice That far back behind us as well is also just like a regular snowy biome so that also goes pretty well with there being a deep cold ocean and an iceberg so this is the exact same world seed and pretty much the same coordinates as well and as You can see it is completely different so seeds are changing massively between versions and as you can see behind us here as well the ocean generation and this version is quite a bit different it’s all splotchy there’s basically just like a random pattern of ocean generation whereas in the new 1.18 betas Experimental modes snapshots etc there is a much a finer gradient between ocean biomes which is really fascinating this beta has also slightly tweaked ore distribution to better match java edition as well however as you can see there’s still an absolutely ton of diamonds everywhere in the world so Don’t fear too much that there’s still going to be plenty of ores like seriously these worlds are just full of ores if you can’t find something you’re not looking hard enough and now let’s talk about that scary and vague change or two mob spawning that we have in the Changelog there’s actually two uh one of which i’ll talk about in just a moment however this change i think i know what it means but again there’s absolutely no details we really need some details in the change logs this change also shouldn’t affect bad rocket edition at all because it’s not The mechanics that we have but anyway a few snapshots ago there was a change to java edition spawning mechanics so basically how java edition spawning mechanics in general just like a real topical overview if you were at the top of the world you get slower spawn rates And as you move towards the bottom of the world you will get much faster spawn rates however that’s all been equalized so you get just kind of like middle of the road spawn rates no matter what height you build at this means that you do not need to dig through 200 layers of Stone to build a farm at the bottom of the world spawn proof 20 000 caves around you in order to have a good mob farm you can simply build your mob farm on the surface of the world or preferably all the way up at build heights have a perfect perimeter and not Need to spawn proof anything and then you’ll also still get some pretty good solid rates now that is the change that was applied to a java edition a few snapshots ago and overall it should be pretty fine it nerfs the high-end farms that were built at the bottom of the World but also makes farms more accessible to everyone what this means for bedrock edition is essentially nothing because we never had this style of spawning we’ve always had equalized spawning where like no matter what height you build you just get the same speeds so i really i really don’t know devs Please throw us a bone when you when you make changes like this we really need some numbers and some hard facts and some mechanics and some details this is like the fifth or maybe sixth change they’ve made the mob spawning in the last like 10 or so betas with Essentially no real details and honestly like mob spawning is not something that you wanna you know not provide detailing on it’s very it’s very nice to know what’s happening there because everybody cares about it and it’s very easy to incite panic and mass hysteria okay maybe not mass hysteria but you get the Point we could really use some details for this stuff i’m so confused it’s all very confusing so that is the first half of 1.17 40 20. that is all the experimental changes that will be coming out in 1.18 the second half of this beta is all of the Regular changes that we’ll be seeing hopefully in a 1.17 release here sometime soon there’s been a slight change to the candle cake previously when you would click on these you would consume two slices but now you only consume one so we can click on this guy That is one slice of the cake gone if we click on this one it will only consume one slice as well so now you can have your cake and eat it too if you’ve ever gone through a nether portal and been set on fire for no apparent reason that Bug has been fixed so now if there is a lava surrounding your nether portal you shouldn’t be caught on fire when going through the portal itself if you’ve ever played on a server or realm and gotten to eat food and notice that you’re still eating food even though all your hunger Hunches are full that bug has now been fixed as well as soon as your hunger bar is full you will no longer be able to eat this is one i’ve never seen happen personally on bedrock but villagers will no longer spam doors constantly like just open and close them kind of like that Yeah that should no longer happen anymore geo generation has a change so now geodes are far less likely to generate inside of a stronghold and even if they do generate inside of a stronghold they will never overwrite the n portal previously on the seed and at these coordinates this entire end portal Was completely consumed by a geode and there wasn’t even any parts of the frame left as you can see this has been fixed pretty thoroughly there’s been two bug fixes with vindicators and pillagers these guys will now continue to wear armor if it’s dispensed to them i just Dispense of both of these guys a full set of another right but as you can see it doesn’t actually render on their body if i kill this dude he doesn’t drop anything because of course he didn’t but this guy might no he didn’t drop anything either well you know what they’re just being Rude but both of them were wearing full another right armor and that is extremely dangerous and just great for trolling people previously there was also a bug with the vindicator where they would just hold out their axe forever and have their arm up in the air like they’re about to attack something But that bug has now been fixed their axe will only get pulled out when they are actually going to attack something you want to demonstrate that for the camera show them how to properly use an axe maybe maybe a little bit there you go thank you he’s such a good little vindicator i Appear to have hit some sort of invisible floor here as you can see i’m not flying or anything like if i jump i fall back down i wonder what happens if i drop like some items can i spawn mobs on this i can’t pick block it Did i crash or something like i was just flying around now there goes the items i can walk around on this perfectly i have no idea what’s happening here it’s just weird weird beta stuff now look at that it’s actually an invisible ceiling as well i Can’t like go up beyond it i’m gonna hold space and as you can see i’m just like hitting an invisible ceiling so weird moving on to our second vaguely worded mob spawning change for today’s beta this time for the non-experimental mode so we should be seeing this in 1.17 Here soon now take all this with a grain of salt and none of this information is from a dev or thoroughly tested in game because all we have to work with is this little note in the change log more mobs will spawn underground in the overworld it’s like eight words anyway i believe What has happened here is the cave cap has actually been doubled from eight mobs to 16 mobs if you’re familiar with how bad rock edition mob spawning works you can have eight mobs on the surface with no solid blocks above them those are surface spawns and then you can have Eight cave spawns these are mobs that spawn underground with a solid block above them but now i believe it is eight surface and 16 for the caves the net effect of this is that you’re going to be seeing more mobs as you’re wandering around the caves of your world Especially in 1.18 and you’re also going to be possibly getting some better rates from your mob farms because you can get more cave spawns which is like the majority of your mob farm anyway so pretty solid stuff all around if this is indeed the change but seriously we need Some more details if you take one thing away from this video it’s uh more details in the changelogs thank you so the cave cap has definitely been boosted this is all natural spawns and we have about 14 or so mobs here last night counted and they’re all moving around a Bunch there’s been a slight tweak of two powdered snow it will no longer unrender if you get very far away from it like a chest or a trapdoor would as you can see all these chests down here are unrendering but the powdered snow is still perfectly visible so that’s a nice Little change and the final change for today’s beta is the fact that they have fixed the summon command for xp orbs previously this was broken and not summoning any xp orbs but as you can see from the little xp orbs below us it is indeed working again so that is a Fantastic and that means i can now go ahead and draw things like this out of xp orbs can you see what it says it’s kind of hard to read but the message is pretty clear thank you so much for watching today’s episode of bug rock of
