Mojang ends years of vague teases with a firm date for the co-op ARPG sequel. It lands on Xbox Series X S, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC for 30 dollars with day one Game Pass. The original was a genuine hit that proved the formula. Now comes the hard part of actually delivering more without bloating it to death.

Six years after the first Minecraft Dungeons proved Mojang could spin the blocky formula into a fun top down action game they have finally nailed down a release for the sequel. Minecraft Dungeons II drops on September 29 2026. The price is set at 29.99 and it hits Game Pass on day one.
Platforms include Xbox Series X S, PlayStation 5, both Nintendo Switch models, and PC. That is about as wide a net as a modern release gets. The game promises high stakes combat, fresh biomes, and the same local and online co op that made the original worth playing with friends.
What we actually know beyond the date
Details are still light but the reveal trailer shown at the Xbox Games Showcase gave glimpses of new enemy types and environments that look properly dangerous. Earlier Minecraft Live segments had already teased a new fearsome foe from the sequel so expectations are building for something that feels like a genuine step up in scale.
For the multiplayer crowd this expands the Minecraft adjacent ecosystem. Dungeons was never about building or survival but it fed the same audience that loves jumping into a world with friends and smashing through content. A strong sequel arriving on Switch 2 at launch could pull in a ton of portable play sessions.
No word yet on major mechanical overhauls or whether it will tie into mainline Minecraft features. Expect more reveals in the coming months as September is not that far away in game announcement time. The fact they bothered showing it at a major Xbox event suggests they are treating it seriously.
- September 29 2026 release across consoles and PC
- Day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass
- Full split screen and online co op confirmed
- New locations and at least one fresh boss type teased
- Priced at 29.99 so it avoids full 70 dollar AAA territory
If the original Minecraft Dungeons caught you and your group by surprise this one looks positioned to do the same but with better production values and broader availability. We will see if the execution matches the promise once hands on footage starts dropping.
