Hello everyone it’s glitching out and in today’s video i’m going to be showing you all how to build this giant tree for your minecraft world we have a lot of building to do so let’s get straight into the tutorial before we get into the build i would Like to say that building a tree of this size is not cheap and it does take quite a few resources so the tree that i built here took around 4 000 oak wood and 8 300 oak leaves and to visualize that it’s around one double chest and a row of oak wood And two double chests and another single chest missing around five stacks so of course these values aren’t going to be exact for you but this is an approximation of the amount of resources that you are going to need to build this tree the first step to Building the tree is going to be laying out the plan for the stump so imagine that each of these dirt lines is one root of the tree so there’s going to be eight in total and basically this allows us to have a nice full supported trunk which looks really nice In the end because we are going to be building the tree quite high so having this nice firm foundation is definitely good to make the build look more realistic right now you can keep all of these lines the same so if we go ahead look right here It’s going to be three two one one one two two three for the regular straight lines and for the diagonal ones you’re gonna wanna go two ones and then going up one one one a two two and then a three and you’re just gonna basically do this for all of the different Cardinal directions of the stump and if we look up here i’ve also gone ahead and drawn a quick circle and it is going to be a five by two by two by five so all you have to do is copy these lines and then we can move on To the second step of the tree the only problem with having all the roots being the same is that you get no variation in randomization which is not a good thing when you are building a tree because as you know trees are part of nature and nature is completely random there is no Patterns to trees they’re not all symmetrical like skyscrapers right so we want to make sure that we’re having each route be different and we can do this by simply changing the plans of each of the routes and i’m going to go ahead quickly look at all of these You can feel free to pause the video at any point if you want to see the exact shapes for any of these roots i’m also going to go ahead and talk about some of the shapes that you can use for these roots for example this one Right here has a bit of a bulge and it also curves a tiny bit which is really nice some of these have little dip downs like this so that they look less like a natural curve and more kind of like almost a wall and then the floor but with a Little bit of curve like if that makes sense at all some can be really long and you can also have the straight ones be curved to give it a lot more variation and also simple ones you can keep a few the same as in the original plan like this one is I’m pretty sure the same as the original plan same goes for this one i’m pretty sure but you can keep a few the same and you can even keep multiple the same but you do want to add in a tiny bit of variation here and there so that your build looks more organic Natural and well like a tree now that we have the skeleton of the trunk complete it is time to work on filling in those lines and completing the trunk so that it looks something a little bit like this and the way we’re gonna be doing that is by slowly tracing these lines downward Until we hit the ground and the way we can do that is by picking a spot to start so i’m gonna go in two blocks from this original line and then i’m gonna be going in and when i am around one block behind the main line i’m going to be going And bringing it up a notch so one block below bring it up and then in some cases i might even go to the same height like this but mostly we’re staying one block below and if we keep going up like this we will eventually hit the top of the The circle i guess you could say the main circle so it looks something a little bit like this and for your second line you’re going to want to make this more dramatic so what you can do is maybe come in two blocks so it’s more like this Then bring it up so that it’s all filled in and you can go up a little bit more so maybe like two and in some cases you can bring it up to the regular one maybe you can even make it a three block but i’m going to keep it at two right there So by doing this we can make this look a lot more steep and it helps to connect with the second line which we’re going to be working on in a second so if we keep bringing this up like this eventually we will reach this main area Right here we can even go ahead break this down and bring the circle down so this gives us nice half of a root and i might even add in a little bit more right there it’s all about changing the build as you go and you can even add in a fourth or a Third layer if you want by just bringing in a little bit of extra depth right here but you might be removing some of this a little bit later and then for this second part right here we’re going to be going like this i might even extend that a little bit more And it’s pretty similar to the regular horizontal route but for the diagonal one it’s a little bit less straightforward you need to make sure you know which is your second line and which is your first line of course that’s not super duper important important but does help you Want to keep the build in proportion so if you keep going up like this you’ll see this is looking pretty nice it’s not perfect so we’re gonna add in a little bit more variation and then eventually you’re gonna meet around in the middle and it’s gonna form an angle between these two Roots and then we can keep bringing this up slowly but surely until we reach the top like this and once we’re at the top we disconnect these all the way in like that and you should have a nice completed route this is looking a little bit thin So you can always go ahead and through the middle like this and that should be pretty good and then you just need to go ahead copy this on the other side and slowly repeat this process so that you’re connecting these making these angles and then moving on to the next side Until you have a completely trunk and if you aren’t really interested in making your own trunk and you just want to copy the one that’s right here i’m going to go ahead convert all this oak wood to smooth stone so it’s easier to see the borders and then i’m going to slowly Fly around the edge of this so you can feel free to pause video at any point and then just copy these lines as we move around and once we’re done with that we can move on to the next step the next step to the build is going to Be adding the trunk to the tree and this is actually very simple all we’re gonna have to do is raise this edge up by seven blocks so i don’t want to go up two three four five six seven and then bring that all the way around on this top layer right here This very top don’t go into these root areas just the middle circle that you made originally and then bring the whole thing up by seven right now the trunk has a good height but it doesn’t look good it looks very blocky very flat and we don’t want that So we can fix that by simply cutting down on some of these corners you can cut out around two to five blocks of space from the edges here and then just make sure to fill them in in the back so maybe a three here and you don’t have To do this for every single one of these little edges but do it for most of them and i might even go down with a five here just to show that you can and one more maybe a three and then maybe we can leave the rest of these except for This one and what that does as you can see already brings in quite a little bit more of the nice shape to the tree and what you can even do is bring up some of these roots even higher and what this does is makes it look like the roots come up Higher on the tree as it is basically suggesting and this gives the build more support and also removes some of the flatness of the tree once you have completed the trunk and stump of the tree it is time to get out your planting dirt again so that you can plan out the branches For the first canopy of the tree there are going to be three of these canopies and each one is going to be slightly higher than the other and slightly shorter so the branches won’t go out as far so that we can have this nice kind of half moon shape that goes up to The very top make sure that there’s leaves everywhere and you do not have to have any variation for this first step right here so as you can see right here i’m going to go ahead and walk through the shapes for the diagonals which is a one two three three And then a five and then for the straight ones it’s a little bit of an l right here and then a three three four and one two three four five six seven eight so an eight and you’re gonna want to go ahead and copy all these and if you’re making your own Branch shapes because your tree is a different size just make sure that they go a good bit past your roots that they kind of go out farther which makes the tree look more realistic which makes it overall look better building the branches of the tree is fairly straightforward And it is going to take a long time but once you have the process down it is not super hard and we’re going to go ahead and quickly walk through the process for making a branch first one that’s straight and then one that is diagonal i’ve already transformed the dirt lines Into the oak wood to save some time like the roots but yeah the way we’re gonna do this is by simply going one above instead of one below like the roots and we’re gonna bring that along and you can keep some of the blocks two blocks behind and some of them one block For this first layer and we’re gonna keep going so maybe here i’ll go a one block and up here maybe even a three block and then we’re just gonna keep going up until we get to around here and there we go at the very edge we want To make sure that this main line is still jutting out from the front and then we’re going to go ahead up above and we’re going to want to trace that line above like this and then once we have this done we should have a nice tall branch that looks a little bit like This and then we can go ahead bring our little line up above here make it a little bit thicker in some places you might even want to get rid of it so it’s just a lot of tinkering around to get the right shape this might be a little bit too Much over here so i want to get rid of a bit of that bring that out a little bit you can even extend the main line if you want i’m just going to go ahead mirror that on the other side but of course still adding a little bit of variation To both sides of the branch so it’s not completely symmetrical because remember we are making organics and not skyscrapers you can also add a little bit more support near the bottom to make the branch look like it’s more connected to the actual trunk of the tree so that’s pretty much a whole Branch and you can always make sure that you’re taking a step back to look at the shape of the entire branch you don’t want it to be too symmetrical too thick too thin you can also look at it from above but i do think that this is a fairly good looking branch So we’re going to go ahead and move on to the diagonal one now the process for making the diagonal branches is arguably even easier than the straight branches all you want to do is first thicken out the bottom of this and then you just want to trace along Your line adding in a little bit of thickness to it because you already have the general shape and all you need to do is make that thicker so it looks more like a branch you just want to go all the way around going on all sides just slowly adding More and more wood so that it becomes thicker and thicker and what this will do is basically give you a nice branch shape make sure you’re keeping your height so you’re going up as you go and if you are making a branch that goes downwards which is also completely fine You might want to make it curve downwards as well so just remember to keep your shape already this is looking decent it’s a little bit thin up on the top areas here i’m going to add little blocks like this make the branch a little bit thicker you can also add these little Things on the top already that’s looking fairly nice a little bit on the bottom here like i said it’s a lot of tinkering with the shape make sure you get something you like maybe get rid of here here and you also want to make sure that you’re looking down From above on these diagonal branches so it’s a little bit thin over here i might want to add a little bit here and there just like this and overall i think that looks pretty nice as always it’s going to take a lot of tinkering but as you go the process will become More smooth more fluent and you’ll be able to do these quite a lot quicker so yeah once we do that you just have to mirror that for all of the different branches and there are going to be a couple different shapes and if you noticed in the examples i did not Change the shape of the actual dirt lines at all but for the actual branches you’re going to want to make sure that you’re changing the shapes as you go so if you’re going to want to go ahead and work on this branch right here you might want to Extend these a little bit like this so that this becomes a little bit longer maybe even add a little bit of a curve here so you just want to make sure you change your shape you don’t have to do it in the planning phase you can just go ahead And do this right before you start working on the branch saves a little bit of time and just like that you have a nice curved branch also you can make branches that kind of fork out like you have one branch that goes this way and it kind of goes into two different Separate branches and this is really useful if you need to fill the space with another branch so i might go ahead like this maybe even bring that out a little bit more and then you can go ahead add another curve on this side and kind Of just bring it out all the way like that and then you have a forked branch that will fill a lot more space and that is very useful in the second phase of the project where you’re going to be making the actual canopy of the tree So yeah let’s go ahead and do that all the way around and once you’re done you should have something a little bit like this notice all of these branches are different some are curved some are shorter some are longer some are forked like we just talked about Some are thinner in some places though this might be even a little bit too thin i might want to add a little bit of thickness right here and in some cases they’re just the completely the same like we did in our example so once that’s done we need to move on To the second canopy however before we can start working on the second canopy we need to actually raise the height of the trunk so that we can add in our canopy a little bit higher than the first one in the example here i raised it by around Four to five blocks of course this will change depending on the size of your tree and i also made sure to cut away at some areas so this would have gone all the way up to here instead we’re cutting away some of these to give it more shape and help us narrow Down the top of the trunk so that when we get to the third canopy it’s very small and we don’t have to worry about making some weird shape at the very top and it can look more natural also notice here that i have already done the variation for these branches And the reason i did this is because we’re actually trying to fill the spaces between the first canopy notice how each of these branches fills the space between two branches so we have a nice overlapping area like this it’s almost as if you took the first canopy and then rotated It so that it now fits perfectly into these second areas so you’re gonna have to change around some of the shapes to make sure that they fit perfectly or they don’t have to fit perfectly but they do have to fit in this area general area between the two Branches you don’t want one that is going completely over the top because then one you’re gonna have a lot of open space and two your canopy is just not going to look very good then all you have to do is repeat the process that you did for the first canopy And make all your branches make sure that you’re making them shorter so that they go around seven to nine blocks shorter than the actual branches of the first canopy of course this is not an exact science but if you go ahead look at my example right here The second canopy branches are quite a bit shorter than the first canopy and the process is basically the same for the third canopy as well notice how we have brought up the trunk a lot more and i’ve also made a lot more cuts into this so that it’s a lot thinner Near the top so there’s a lot of these little areas where the trunk narrows down which is going to help us after we finish building the branches and the branches are a lot shorter than they were in the second canopy and a lot a lot shorter than they were in the First canopy and notice how we have the branches all filling the spaces again these ones are going to go over the ones in the first can be roughly the same shape the same angle so that we have a nice full canopy of branches and if we go ahead and look at this we Can go ahead and look at the top and you’ll notice how there isn’t really any open space all of the branches are filling in empty space which is gonna be really useful when we start doing the leaf edge and if we come over here the branches are all complete it’s the same process For all of these of course these ones are gonna be slightly thinner so keep that in mind when you’re building your branches you don’t want to make them as thick because they are going to be shorter you want to keep them in proportion so there we go that looks pretty nice And now it is time to move on to one of the most time consuming parts of this project but it is also one of the most important parts to making your tree look nice this is the point in the project where if you were building a winter tree that was completely dead you Would be finished we have now finished the actual branches of the tree here and you’ll notice it looks a lot different from the previous step and it’s actually not that different all we did was add in these tiny little twigs on all of the branches Notice how they don’t go in to here once we get out to around the outer edges of the branches that’s when we start seeing these twigs and it’s pretty self-explanatory how to make them it’s a very short one block long twigs and you want to make sure that they fill the spaces you Don’t want any empty spaces so you’re seeing how here we have a branch or a little twig that curves this way and then we have another one that comes out here to fill the space and we have another one over here coming out to fill this area right here And you just want to go ahead and continue this all the way all around this is going to take a long time as you’re gonna have to do each branch separately and you want to add in four to six twigs on each branch though that may change depending on How much space you need to fill also you can even add little twigs onto the other twig so if i want to add a twig here you can add twig right there coming out from this one you want to make sure that on the higher canopies you don’t have Your twigs going out farther than the lower canopy so i don’t want my twig going out all the way here if it’s on the second canopy because that is farther than the first canopy and that’s going to make the tree not look very nice in the end but Overall after you do this you will have a finished dead tree and it’s time to add the life to it also i almost forgot to mention this this is one of the most important branches of the tree you’ll notice right here i’ve actually gone ahead and filled in the middle area Of the trunk so if we come over here the way i did this is basically take our wood and then just go around the edge like this and then we want to go ahead go even lower so that we have this nice little basin or kind of bowl at the bottom We don’t want to make it too deep but we want to make sure that it is a decent way down and then once that’s done we’re going to be adding a branch coming out from the top now unlike the other branches that go more horizontally this branch is going to be going Straight upwards or not straight upwards but almost completely vertical and we’re going to want to make kind of go like this now this is kind of the plan i for i did not do a planning phase for this one but we want to kind of have Two twigs that go out like this or two branches and you’re gonna make sure that you fill these in so that they look like these ones and once you’re done you should have something that looks a little bit like this it’s going to be a lot thicker than your Other branches actually now that i think about it and as you go up you’re going to see it has a little bit of a y fills the space and this branch is going to have a lot of longer twigs to fill the top of the canopy this is Going to be think of it like the lid of the cookie jar this is going to be the part that makes the whole tree complete because as you can see right here the branches don’t go all the way to the top so this one little branch right here or this one big Branch is going to make sure that you have a full canopy that looks something a little bit like this adding the leaves to your tree is going to be the most time consuming part of the project i’m not going to try to hide that this Is going to take a long time but the way we’re going to be doing this is by simply curving the leaves all the way around the branch so you have something a little bit like this completely covered and once you have this done you’re going to start branching out and You want to bring and just expand all of these leaves that you have a nice big branch and if you have areas like this where a leaf is completely completely covered by other leaves you’re going to want to break that so that the canopy is not as thick as it Would be because you want to make sure that you’re keeping the canopy of leaves fairly fairly open and a good rule of thumb is that when you’re looking up you should be able to see the sky now obviously this isn’t going to happen perfectly and there are going to be some Spots where it’s a lot more dense but overall this is a good way to think when you’re making the leaves that you don’t make them too thick and we’re just going to keep going around here you’ll notice how this is already looking okay it’s going to look kind of splotchy Kind of messy and that is actually a good thing because that’s what we’re going for trees are not perfect they’re going to be very messy and the canopy of leaves will only look more organized once you have a lot of the branches covered with them so overall it’s going To look something a little bit like this you might even add more as you go on and you just want to make sure that you’re keeping on destroying those middle blocks so you notice here this is completely completely open because it’s completely covered by leaves you can also add in these little Tiny leaves coming out from the edge it gives the the branch more of a flare the leaves give it a little bit more flare almost like the tree is kind of just expanding outwards as you go and once you’re done you should have a leaf that looks a little bit like this And then you just got to keep going all the way around and for these branches right here the main branches you just want to go ahead and cover these with leaves like this and then use the a similar process to the way that you made the regular branches the little little Twigs and you’re gonna want to cover every single swig with leaves including the main branches that’s why it’s gonna take a long time because you wanna make sure that you’re making each branch look a little bit something like this completely covered with leaves and there is no science to this there is No specific way that you can do the leaves you can also just completely cover it make it completely dense and i wouldn’t recommend that if you’re trying to make a really realistic looking tree but if you are a little bit short on time and you Don’t want to spend a ton of time just breaking all these little blocks here and there then just completely covering the tree and leaves is also an option but yeah once you’re done you should have something that looks a little bit like this a full canopy of leaves Notice near the top this is all very open there’s no spots in the tree where there are holes or any areas where you can just see right through to the trunk and this is not going to be perfect of course there are some places where You can kind of see in but there’s no big holes and the way i did this was simply to expand the leaves and kind of bring them together in areas where the area was more open so near the top in particular this is a little bit hard To explain but you’ll notice here how it’s very open you can see right through and the reason why is i kind of took the branches and the leaves of different twigs that weren’t super close together and then you kind of just connect the dots and make it so that there isn’t a full Canopy right here so you’ll notice here i could probably break through and immediately get to the canopy and that’s because i just took the leaves from this branch and one that i believe is in this general direction and i just kind of covered it over i completed the canopy i connected the Dots there’s no branch underneath here but it still works because there is a branch fairly close by so that is the way you’re going to want to do this make sure you’re connecting dots no holes and you want to make sure that your canopy is nice and Kind of curved like a half moon like i talked about and you’ll notice how because we made all of those canopies shorter than last it does give it more curve and the shape is not perfect and you don’t want to be perfect you don’t want it to be a perfect Half moon you want to kind of have a general shape but not the exact shape so you know now in some places it’s shutting out some of these branches are farther out than the others and some are shorter or some are more pushed in and what this does is gives your tree a Lot more variation makes it look a lot more realistic i haven’t made any huge changes to the tree but it’s already looking a lot better you can see it’s more life filled it looks more like it fits in nature we’re gonna go ahead and slowly walk through each of these different Components that i added to make the tree look more alive so the first thing i want to talk about is these lanterns i’m gonna go ahead quickly fly around so you can see the design two chains hanging down and we’re using the strip spruce wood the spruce stairs and the orange glass With the stream light in the middle it is a very simple design but i do think it adds a lot of life to the build and kind of fits in with the general colors and aesthetic of the tree we have another one on this side you don’t want to add too Many of these lanterns but having two or maybe even three is definitely good to help bring a little bit of light to the build because there is still going to be some mob spawns in here and that is one thing that you will have to deal with you can always add little Torches streamlights kind of floating maybe you can even add little bits of floating stream light as if they’re little fireflies or something in the trees which could be a really cool idea i did not do it myself i think that could be a way to spawn proof the build If you are interested in doing that down here we have some of these spruce leaves forming these vines around the tree i added stroom light to the bottom to give the area a little bit more light and the reason i chose spruce leaves is because this is the vines growing from The ground they’re not the same as the oak leaves from the tree this is a different type of plants we’re using a different type of vine you can even use multiple different types you can use birch leaves jungle leaves any leaf that you want i would not do dark oak leaves because They are basically the same as the oak leaf but yeah next thing we have is these mushrooms around here very simple very small detail but they do add a lot of color and life to the build that makes it look more like the tree is More grown and it is also a good way to add an entrance to your build just a simple spruce store to come in here there’s a lot of space in here and it is very dark right now so i’m gonna go ahead and walk out for video purposes And then the last thing i added was actually these are rocks so we’re using a mix of the cobblestone stone and then their stair and slab variants with the shroom light hidden behind to give it more light like i said and these rocks just make the build look A little bit older more weathered and it also brings in that nice gray color to give the build a lot more color because if we just have a tree like this without any of these extra details it’s just brown and green so by adding in this orange and the red And the extra tones of green and the gray we have a lot more color which makes the build look a lot better but yeah that is actually the entire tutorial if you have any questions feel free to leave them down in the comments below i will answer any Questions you have i’m also going to be leaving a world download to this specific map so they can check out the exact process for making the tree and if you did enjoy make sure to like and subscribe but otherwise this has been glitching out good bye everyone Video Information
