Get to it by visiting minecraft.wiki which is such a short and great URL to remember and here is the old URL it was part of the fandom Wiki Network which created some problems the community wasn’t happy with and I can point out some of the issues for you

Right here you have the fandom are running down the side of the screen you get little pop-ups like down here in the corner when you’re visiting a page you have this recent images on the sides then you get ads and popular pages and a bunch of fluff that just makes the

Layout a little cramped there were some other issues too like pop-ups and slow load times and not being able to edit to the wiki without an account in the community have decided to move on and find a new home for the Minecraft Wiki and over at the Minecraft reddit we have

A post from Sonic wavemc telling us about this move away from fandom over to minecraft.wiki this article lays out some of the things that I just mentioned like having less ads and faster load times but it also points out that fandom isn’t going to close the wiki once the

Community moves away from it and this means people searching will still find the old Wiki and they may get out of date information and this is one of the reasons I wanted to make this video I’m quite happy that we’re moving to a new Wiki I think the reasons to do so good

But the community is moving to together and this means that some people that are not in the know might get left out perhaps in a year from now they’re looking up articles on the wrong Wiki and getting the wrong information about the game so it says here they want the

New Wiki to be successful but they’re going to need your help and one of those is of course to spread the word so tell your friends that play Minecraft about the new Wiki and as a reminder here not to click on fandom links so if ever

You’re using a search engine to get to this you don’t want to click on the old Wikileaks you want to click on the new one so it’s ranking increases and other people will be more likely to click on the minecraft.wikilinks so if you have any bookmarks or you run a website with

A link to the Minecraft Wiki you want to switch it from the old one to the new one and if you want to get involved in helping them improve the wiki there is a Discord server and also a help page that I’ll link in the description box down

Below I would also like to take a moment to show you the new Wiki which I think looks really good the home page has been redesigned they’ve laid out this space with some blocks for some of the other games like Legends and story modes it all looks really clean and easy to get

Through and just comparing it to the previous Wiki one of the problems is the Clutter when you get down to the bottom of a page there’s just so much going on here with the fan feed and then you’ve got all the fandom stuff as well let’s

Go ahead and jump into a page like mobs and see what it looks like with the new layout it is rather clean and spacious as I scroll through here you see there’s lots of room for text images are on the side there’s not a lot of fluff going on

Here and when we look at the old one it’s just a little bit cramped right because of all of this stuff on the side here it takes a lot longer to get through the article and then bits like this you then got to use the little

Scroll bars to see all of the mobs obviously some of that depends on what resolution you’re looking at the web page in if you’re looking at it on a mobile device it’s probably going to be different but my experience here on the PC is much better and much cleaner with

The new Wiki another thing that I’ve been doing is jumping around and just looking at what’s in the Articles so like the table of contents the text and the images it’s all pretty much a like for like at the moment so of exception to the main page it seems like most

Pages have the same contents currently but that will diverge with time because the community is moving over to this new Wiki so it’s going to be the one that’s going to be updated and slowly those fandom pages will be out of date but currently as of right now it seems like

Most of them are actually on par and so I don’t think there’s too much else to say the main point is just to get the word out let people know so we can start using this Wiki obviously like I’ve said we don’t want people left behind and I

Think it’s really good to see the community taking action here and moving away from a Wiki provider that wasn’t particularly great and getting themselves set up for something much better so Kudos and thanks to all the people over at the wiki as well I use it
