Minecraft 1.18 Vanilla Tweaks – The Compatibility Update!

Resource pack picker where you can bring in subtle changes and variations to the minecraft game and so in this video i’m going to be covering all of the new additions and changes between well the last video and this 1.18 update and it should be noted that this is also the

Vanilla tweaks compatibility update and this simply means that you no longer have to pick out hybrid packs if you want to have the brewing guide but also have the dark ui the website will intelligently put those two together for you and so you can just hit the download

Button and i guess for those of you that are new let’s do a quick tutorial at the top here you can pick which version of minecraft you’re selecting your choices for and then in each of these categories there are tons of choices and if you just feel like picking everything you

Can click on the pickle and as you can see the website will point out if you have any conflicts for example you can only pick one of these packs and you can also rearrange their order over here in the side and so it’s a pretty simple

Concept you go through and pick out the changes that you want and when you’re done you come over here and you download it you get the file and you put this in your resource pack folder so from the aesthetic category i have two things to show you first of all is the accurate

Spyglass now you might be wondering why is it accurate well it’s all about the texture if we have a look at the recipe it’s made out of copper and amethyst and now you can see why this is a lot more accurate compared to the crafting recipe

Now if you’re not a fan of rotating blocks then you’ll probably enjoy this one it is the singular glazed terracotta and it essentially condenses the patterns that you can create with these blocks down into a single block that then can’t be rotated so it doesn’t matter how you place this it’s always

Visible the same way in the world and i gotta say those look really really nice don’t they i kind of wish we had both of these in the game next up we have two from the utility pack section and both of them are related to the amethyst geodes and

You can spot them quite easily so when one of these is at its fullest stage of growth it’ll display the exclamation mark above or under or even to the side of it and the other change here is the budding amethyst block it now has an outline around it which makes it much

Easier to distinguish among the other amethyst blocks so you won’t accidentally go and break one of these precious blocks and from the gui section we have an interesting change for the game rules when you’re creating a new world it’ll actually display the name of the game rule as it appears when you

Interact with it inside of the game and just to jog your memory this is what it normally looks like rather than saying what the game rule is which you can see when you hover over it gives you the description of which sometimes i find a little confusing as i’m very used to

Seeing the game rules so this is the sort of pack that i would use myself from the unobtrusive category we have the return of the no beacon beam i’m not sure why this got removed but it has been put back in so this is an active

Beacon right now and i’ve got to put an ingot inside of it and selected speed and you can see that it’s working but we don’t see the beacon beam and the next one is the no spyglass overlay which does exactly what it says on the tin it

Allows you to zoom in like normal with the spyglass but you don’t get that overlay around the edge of the screen and alongside this option there is also the translucent spyglass overlay so if you want to compromise a little bit of both you can have the border but as you

Can see the edges are transparent from the 3d category we have two things that are rather visible in this area right now the first one is the glow light chin when i get close on it you can see it’s now actually like a 3d block and the

Second one over here are these chains very very subtle but they are indeed now 3d shapes rather than just textures and they they really do look absolutely terrific and a quick little something that should be pointed out about these chains the three-dimensional ones they will affect the soul lantern and the regular lantern

As well as this part of their model will be made 3d so it can match up with the chain and this next one at a glance can often look as if there’s no change at all but yes look up here the drip stone is actually

3d so if you want your drip stone turned into three-dimensional blocks like this that is one of the choices and here is yet another one that you might not really notice until you pay very close attention the bookshelves are indeed 3d that is so subtle though

But i do like it so yeah there’s another choice for you and it’s back to the amethyst geode we go because look at it right here we got ourselves a three-dimensional bud i think that these are literally fantastic oh they look so very cool don’t they and

Also added to this category is the cake the sea pickle and the candles and you’re probably thinking wait a minute and nothing’s changed here it’s the item in the inventory that has changed and that could be a reminder that some of these items now render 3d inside the

Inventory but some of them stay the same and so those changes with the cake the sea pickle and the candles are a part of the 3d items pack it should also be noted that 3d doors and 3d trap doors were separated into their own packs now in the connected textures section we

Have the connected polished blocks which connects these three together so that you can have the border expand around several blocks the one that’s been added here is polished deep slate is it’s a similar texture to these ones and now you can actually connect them together with this resource pack and now for the

Retro section where you can have the pre 1.18 strip dark oak so you may remember this texture was adjusted recently before the release of 1.18 and subsequently if you’re playing in 1.17 there is a pack that adds darker stripped dark oak so if you want the 1.18 texture in 1.17 you have that

Option also in the retro section is a fun pack that gives the old explosion sound back to the game let’s hear it wow that takes me back this is from like alpha and beta versions of the game which are like 10 years old now so yeah if that’s the sound you want to

Hear you’ve got the option and if you’re a fan of the pre 1.17 ores there’s some changes that have been made here the lapis deep slate texture has been updated to match the original one and then if you’re a fan of the old copper ore seen in 20 w45a

This now works for the regular type and the deep slate and then there is options backgrounds where you can change the texture that appears in the background of the main menu these ones highlighted here are new editions so all of those selected and these three down here have

Been added and there is now quite a lot to pick from there’s tons of options here but also a new addition is this no dark overlay so if you don’t want the background to be darkened like these ones are you can also select this and then the textures appear brighter and

Just in case you’re wondering here’s what it looks like it really is quite bright maybe the prismarine was the wrong texture to select but i would personally probably stick to having it darkened and you saw this menu a second ago so if you want to skip back and play

Spot the difference well i’ll point out it’s the logo up the top here it’s the one from bedrock because we’re looking at the parity changes you can choose so as well as the logo from the main screen there is also the pistons which are different in bedrock edition they have

These uh beefier arms i guess you could call them and there is now a pack to change the model and to make it like it is in bedrock edition and now on to the fixes part of the website where tweaks and changes that are very minor can be

Selected as you can see here there is a slight adjustment to the coco bean texture there is also an option to slightly adjust the pixels of the redstone wire texture just so it looks more connected there is also what’s known as z fighting where there’s like

Texture conflicts and there is a fix for them on cats as they have this z fighting in their texture and if you’re a fan of the pebbles dirt texture pack which takes out the little pebble from the it wouldn’t have done it when you converted it to a path block but the fix

Here is that that pack will now remove the pebble as well and then we have slimes which emit particles and if these particles look a little nicer that’s because they’re getting them from the texture of the slime block as opposed to the texture of the slime ball and this

Is one of those impressive changes where once you see it you’re like yeah they should really use the other particle this just doesn’t quite look right so those are all of the new changes and additions and don’t go anywhere just yet i wanted to let you know that the vanilla tweaks is
