While everyone was still digesting yesterday’s Minecraft Live announcements, Mojang quietly launched the Camp Out Community Challenge. The premise is simple on paper: go camping in Minecraft. The execution is the usual community grind.
The Targets
Between now and October 1 at 10 AM PT, the community needs to place 50 million straw beds and 200 million cushions. These have to be placed “out in the wild” for the counts to register toward the goal. Hit both targets and everyone gets rewards. Fall short and the unlocks stay locked.
- 50 million straw beds
- 200 million cushions
- Deadline: October 1 2026 at 10 AM PT
- Applies to Bedrock players for Character Creator items and Java for skins
The Rewards
Hitting 50 percent of both targets unlocks two free Character Creator items plus one Java skin. Completing the full challenge adds two more Character Creator items and another Java skin. Rewards are account-based, one of each per player, redeemable until June 2027. Console players need the usual online subscription.
The challenge is framed around the Wilderness Bound drop, pushing players to use the new camp-themed items in survival worlds. If past events are any indication, dedicated servers and content creators will organize mass placement sessions to brute-force the numbers.
Everyone has their own personal camping styles, and this writer is no different! Are you with me, camping community? Yeah!
Participation is open to Bedrock players worldwide. After the challenge ends, rewards are distributed automatically to qualifying accounts. Check the official page for full rules and redemption details.
