Ever since the early 2000s the fifa line of video games has been a cultural phenomenon much like a regular football season fifa restarts every year i was first introduced to fifa with 07 on the nintendo ds later followed by my uncle’s old copy of fifa 8 on the wii ever since those early Introductions i’ve owned almost every fifa edition since or whatever platform i had at the time from the ds to the wii from the ps3 to the ps4 to last and least the nintendo switch see the nintendo switch has been my pride and joy since its launch When the prospect of a nintendo gaming platform that shifted between tv and handheld first evolved i became so excited at the idea of some of my favorite franchises being playable on the tv and out of the house no more so was this true than the fifa franchise see at the time of the Switch’s launch fifa 17 was the current game and 17 was amongst 15 and 12 as one of my favorites so when ea announced the fifa brands would be coming over to the switch my mouth was watering At what a switch fifa could look like being able to play fifa on the go sounded ideal to me now i am no fool in this regard although maybe in most others but even at the time i knew the switch Was severely underpowered and well behind even the current generational power of the xbox one and playstation 4. but with breath of the wild looking and playing so beautifully i thought the ea with all their resources would find a way to scale down fifa 17 and potentially cut Out unnecessary features while keeping its core gameplay even at the worst i thought ea would build an entirely new fifa for the switch maybe with a different engine and gameplay unique to it to maximize the switch’s incredible potential all of this especially due to the launch and continued Success of the console it isn’t like ea had no time either the gap between a launch of the switch and the first fifa on it was over half a year and that’s not even taking into account the amount of development time they would have had even before the console’s launch and even then Most people thought fifa 18 on the switch was what fifa 14 was on the ps4 a game that bridged the gap before ea released the new fully dedicated new generation fifa i mean even on the wii which could not even nearly compete graphically and performance wise with The 360 and ps3 had its own fifa game made from scratch to fit the platform but step forward to the second fifa on the switch fifa 19 and the worst fears of nintendo fifa fans were realized fifa 18 switch launched with gameplay almost identical to previous gen consoles like the ps3 A generation that was upgraded over three years before and with the release of 19 on the switch fans realized it was going to be the exact same each coming year with no hope of change the only difference between titles being new kits player rosters broadcast packages and the legacy title Fifa on the nintendo switch is no more than a cash grab by the powers that be at ea fifa consistently sells decently every year on the switch even with it being an identical product because like myself there are so many fifa fans who main the switch And yet even with the audience there for ea they deceive with their scam of a game fifa 22 on the switch is still just as buggy clunky and unplayable as it was in fifa 18. for scientific purposes i will now place four editions of fifa on the switch Side by side from fifa 18 to fifa 22 for you to understand with your own eyes and it’s not like any of these editions were introduced at the end of the console cycle like how the fifa games became identical at the tail end of the ps3 and even what Is happening now on the ps4 the switch version started and continues to be the exact same game not even new animations implemented now as apha mentioned people will argue the switch is so underpowered that it makes sense for fifa to be well behind on it yes the switch is incredibly Underpowered in comparison to its competitors but we have seen cross console ports of ps4 xbox one titles work well on the switch generally the graphics and frames take a hit especially with fps titles but the games are very much still enjoyable experiences that have been clearly produced With respect to the switch overwatch doom fortnite and even apex legends are all proof of this even another sports game nba 2k 22 has gameplay that resembles the main edition of itself with mostly just reduced graphics and a couple modes that can only really exist on Newgen being removed fifa on the switch has never had pro clubs or even volta you could even say that there was a volta mode on the 3ds which once again had a fifa title built from the ground up to suit it but for some reason or another ea have avoided Putting effort into the nintendo switch with the introduction of the ps5 and xbox series x this puts fifa on the switch a whole two generations behind the current main edition all fifa is on the switch is another reminder of why so many gamers have a distaste for ea Video Information

The release of FIFA 22 marks another year of disappointment for Nintendo FIFA fans. Since FIFA 18, the Nintendo Switch has been handed a yearly “legacy” release. With modern gen ports like EA’s own Apex Legends making it to the Switch, Nintendo fans are confused at why they are left with a two-generation old football game for their console.

Ever since the early 2000s, the FIFA line of video games has been a cultural phenomenon.
Much like a regular football season, FIFA restarts every year. With each new game being named after the year in which the upcoming football campaign ends.
I was first introduced to FIFA with 07 on the Nintendo DS, later followed by my uncle’s old copy of FIFA 08 on the Wii.
Ever since those early introductions, I have owned almost every FIFA edition SINCE on whatever platform I had at the time. From the DS, to the Wii, from the PS3 to the PS4, to last AND least; the Nintendo Switch.
See, the Nintendo Switch has been my pride and joy since its launch. When the prospect of a Nintendo gaming platform that shifted between TV and handheld first evolved; I became so excited at the idea of some of my favourite franchise’s being playable on the TV and out of the house.
No more so was this true than the FIFA franchise. See, at the time of the Switch’s launch; FIFA 17 was the current game. And 17 was amongst 15 and 12 as one of my favourites. So when EA announced the FIFA brand would be coming over to the Switch; my mouth was watering at what a Switch FIFA could look like. Being able to play FIFA on the go sounded ideal to me.
Now, I am no fool in this regard, although maybe in most others, but even at the time I knew the Switch was severely underpowered and well behind even the current generational power of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. But with Breath Of The Wild looking and playing so beautifully. I thought that EA with all their resources would find a way to scale down FIFA 17 and potentially cut out unnecessary features whilst keeping its’ core gameplay. Even at the worst, I thought EA would build an entirely new FIFA for the Switch; maybe with a different engine and gameplay unique to it to maximise the Switch’s incredible potential; all this especially due to the launch and continued success of the console. It isn’t like EA had no time either! The gap between the launch of the switch and the first FIFA on it was OVER HALF A YEAR. And that’s not even taking into account the amount of development time they would have had even before the consoles launch. And even then, most people thought FIFA 18 on the switch was what “FIFA 14” was on the PS4. A game that bridged the gap before EA released the new fully-dedicated new gen FIFA.
I mean, even the Wii, which could not even nearly compete graphically and performance wise with the 360 and PS3, had its own FIFA game made from scratch to fit the platform.
But, step forward to the second FIFA on the Switch, FIFA 19. And the worst fears of Nintendo FIFA fans were realised.
FIFA 18 Switch launched with gameplay almost identical to previous gen consoles like the PS3, a generation that was upgraded over 3 years before. And with the release of 19 on the switch, fans realised it was going to be the EXACT same each coming year, with no hope of change. The only difference between titles being new kits, player rosters, broadcast packages and the “LEGACY TITLE”.
FIFA on the Nintendo Switch is no more than a cash-grab by the powers that be at EA. FIFA consistently sells decently every year on the Switch; even with it being an IDENTICAL product, because like myself there ARE SO MANY FIFA fans who main the Switch. And yet even with the audience there for EA, they deceive with their scam of a game. FIFA 22 on the Switch is still just as buggy, clunky and unplayable as it was in FIFA 18.
And it’s not like any of these editions were introduced at the end of the console’s cycle. Like how the FIFA games became identical at the tail end of the PS3 and even what is happening now on the PS4. The switch version STARTED and continues to be the EXACT same game. Not even new animations are implemented…
Yes, the Switch is incredibly underpowered in comparison to it’s competitors, but we have seen cross-console ports of PS4/XboxOne titles work well On the Switch. Generally, the graphics and frames take a hit, especially with FPS titles, but the games are very much still enjoyable experiences that have clearly been produced with respect to the Switch. OVERWATCH, DOOM, Fortnite and even APEX LEGENDS are all proof of this. Even another sports game, NBA 2K22, has gameplay that resembles the main edition of itself, with mostly just reduced graphics and a couple modes that can only really exist on new gen.
