Create Above and Beyond : E13 – Alchemical Laser Automation

What is going on guys we are back playing s’more create above and beyond and today we’re going to be messing with alchemical lasers it has been such a long time since we have done any quest progression in this pack so i’m really excited to get back to it because the

Last couple episodes we’ve been working on stuff over here working on the sweetberry farm the trading station and finally finishing off with the ore processing and don’t get me wrong i mean all of this stuff is extremely useful it’s actually probably some of the most useful stuff we’ve set up in this entire

Series some of it is a little bit overpowered i’m not going to specify what is overpowered but you know some of it might be a little bit game breaking so i’m excited though to get back to the roots of progressing through this pack doing all the quest chains so that we

Can make our way to the moon we’re not really looking at the moon but it’s up there somewhere in the sky in the world somewhere and so we’re going to be progressing through chapter four today and i do want to say that there are two chapter fours there’s chapter four and

Chapter four a chapter four a is kind of like an alternative progression method that’s a little bit out there we’re eventually going to cover this don’t worry if you want to go this route i will cover it but we’re going to be starting out today with chapter four

Because this is kind of more the route that i think a lot of people are gonna take it’s a lot more similar to the ones that we’ve done before and so we’re gonna start out with this and then eventually we’ll slip 4a in there somewhere the important thing to know

Though is with chapter four there’s kind of four different starting routes you can go today we’re going to be covering two of them the far left side to make concentrated heat and the far right side to make concentrated cold and the reason we’re covering both of these in today’s

Episode is because they’re the exact same thing there’s basically one difference between them and that’s the thermal series machine you’re going to use to either make snowballs or basalt everything else other than the catalyst that you charge up is going to be identical so we’re going to cover the

Far right side set up here to make concentrated cold on camera today and then off camera at some point either before the end of today’s episode or before next episode i’m going to make the concentrated heat set up that’ll be a duplicate of it so we’re going to be

Building the concentrated cold setup right over here next to the ore processing setup because i’m planning on using numismatic dynamos yet again big surprise for getting power for thermal series machines and okay well you know what let’s just take care of him before he annoys me even more than usual okay

There we go ah now we’re ready to go but we’re gonna be setting it up over here and it doesn’t really need that much space because it’s a pretty compact setup i’m quite proud of the setup i came up with for this it took forever to make but with that said

I don’t want to get your hopes up too much because this is chapter four we’re really close to going to the moon and so it should make sense that this is going to be a really complicated build there’s a lot going on here and as you can see

My inventory these aren’t even all the blocks we need and we’re working with like five or six different mods here there’s going to be a lot of stuff going on in a very small area and there’s gonna be a fair bit of redstone and timing involved to make this all work so

The first thing we need to do for this setup is put down the minecart loader then have a one block gap and then put down the minecart unloader and then we can just grab out whatever block we want to build with i’m just gonna use smoked

Planks put that down in the middle of these so that we can put down our regular rail and our powered rails right on top of them so regular rail in the middle powered rail on top of the loader and the unloader and this right here is pretty much the basis for our entire

Setup this is going to be the brains behind everything and we’re just gonna have a cart going back and forth on these so nice and simple nothing too complicated right right so basically the input is gonna come in right here it’s gonna load into a mine

Cart with a hopper which for some reason is the only thing that the alchemical laser can convert items inside and then it’s going to get unloaded over here so let’s deal with the input first we’re going to want to build up with some planks just so that we have something

Right here on this side for the cart to rest against and we can just put down our mine cart with a hopper right here for the time being this will get loaded if we were to put items in this loader right here but we don’t need to worry

About that just yet because we need to get some items in here to actually load into the mine cart and for this we’re going to be making snowballs and we’re going to use the blast chiller which is a block from thermal series which is a really complicated way of making

Snowballs but it’s going to be the most compact way for us to do it right now and the most efficient so eventually we’ll power this thing but it’s going to be using water and a ball cast to make snowballs and we can add upgrades to make it faster not going to worry about

That just yet the only upgrade that i care about right now is the modular reconfiguration augment because without this thing for some reason there is no way to configure the sides on any of the thermal series machines i feel like that’s usually there i feel like i’m

Going crazy in this pack when i can’t remember if things were there before or not but i swear usually you can do that by default but here we need to add in an augment for it so we’ll put that in there and then we’re going to need to give this thing

Water and the way that we’re going to do that is by using the aqueous accumulator so we can grab that out along with two buckets of water and then we’re just gonna dig down right here and also right over here and i guess the shovel yet

Again is too powerful for me so we’re gonna fill this back in but we’ll fill this up with water and we will fill this up with water and then we can just refill our buckets from the aqueous accumulator itself and throw those back in here because we are definitely going

To be running short on inventory space but now this is generating us water doesn’t need any power or anything and up here we can configure this to pull the water from the bottom so we’ll set that to input from the bottom auto input and there’s our water and then if we come

Over to the front we need to do auto output the snowballs out the left side so we’re gonna set this do auto output out the left side so it’ll push the snowballs over here now we need to deal with the fact that we need to stop the snowballs at four stacks which might

Sound a little bit weird but if we take a look at the minecart with a hopper this is probably not used by you super frequently but it only has five stacks in here of items in here it has nine and if we take a look at the quest for this

We need to have snowballs but we also need this thing right here in order for the essence to form the entropy manipulator has to be present in the cart and has to be charged so that means that one of these stacks needs to always be the entropy manipulator which right

Now is not charged but eventually it will be but that means that only four of these can be snowballs and if this whole thing gets loaded up with snowballs we will not be able to get this manipulator back in this cart and then nothing’s gonna work so the way that we’re gonna

Get around this is simply by grabbing out a stockpile switch putting it on the front of the minecart loader and i will say it’s going to be really hard to get access to this thing while we have this here but you can kind of eke your way in

On the side here to access it but so now that we have this we need to grab out some snowballs and we’re going to put those as the filter here because we don’t want to account for the manipulator that’s going to also be in here and now we need to figure out what

Percent four stacks are but there’s nine in here there’s four stacks of snowballs that we want which is roughly 44.4 infinitely repeating percent the reason this is a little bit weird is because the blast chiller and any thermal series machine is only going to turn off when

It’s got a redstone signal so we’ve got this set to low but it’s also going to complete whatever operation it’s currently on so really we want the redstone signal coming from this stockpile switch and going over here to the blast chiller not when this minecart

Loader is at four stacks we want it when it’s at three stacks and 12 snowballs because we get four produced every operation from the blast chiller and that’s going to be roughly around 41 so we’re going to set this to 41 then we’re going to scroll this bottom one

Down all the way to zero because we only want the signal going away once it’s been enabled once this is totally empty then i’m just gonna grab out some red alloy wires right here put one down here and i’m thinking i’m gonna have to get rid of this trap door right here because

It’s probably going to also be affected by the red alloy wire so i’ll have to either move this lamp or i don’t know put something else here maybe i’ll put some barrels maybe that’s how i’ll cover up the water here ah you know very smart obviously that’s my

Solution for everything i just put barrels everywhere but now once we get four stacks in here and they are not loaded into this hopper minecart it is going to disable the production of the blast chiller so that’s only really relevant when the mine cart isn’t here

But this whole thing will work and i guess if we were to put some planks right here and get rid of this which we’re eventually going to need if we were to push this minecart over there up can it move there we go then we come in here and load some snowballs in

If we have so we’ve got a couple here we can load that in there and can you convert snow blocks back into snowballs or do i need to actually break those i guess i would need to actually break those well either way you can see it’s jumped up and eventually it will stop

The production of this right here and then when the minecart comes back all of those will need to load in before this signal goes away and this can start making them again the thing is we need a way to send the minecart over here once it’s done being

Loaded so we are going to change this from output to comparator to output redstone activation so it’s just going to give redstone signal and then this is going to be set to output when the cart is full so the idea here is when the car comes over here it’s going to stop it’s

Going to get loaded very quickly no snowballs will be coming in over the four stacks it’ll simply be the four stacks of snowballs and a charged entropy manipulator all of those will get into the mine cart the minute all those get in this stockpile switch will allow this to start producing snowballs

Again but no matter how upgraded this whole thing is over here it will never make snowballs before the cart is gone because the minute this is full and this turns off this will shoot the cart a redstone signal on this powered rail and fire it over here so that’s how we get

The cart away right when it’s filled up and don’t risk overloading it or over producing snowballs or anything like that now i’d like to say that we’re done with all the input stuff going into this loader but we’re almost done we still have one thing left to do and that is

The entropy manipulator which we need to have coming from the unloader getting recharged a little bit because it doesn’t use much then going back into the loader so the way we’re going to do that is with some brass pipes from pretty pipes and where is it our charger

From applied energistics 2. so we’re going to put the charger down and we can put it down pretty much wherever we really want but i’m going to put it down right up here and i’m just going to orient it properly so it looks nice so

We’ll put that down here and then we can put down our item pipes and i’m thinking we’re going to have to reconfigure some of these eventually depending on where we put other stuff but for now we’re just going to go like this and like this eventually one of these i

Know is gonna have to go down here and we’re gonna have to trim the pipes because we’re gonna have invar stuff going on one of these sides you know what let’s just do it right over here right now because it doesn’t really matter which side that totally just went

In the cart didn’t it and then it went in the unloader there we go okay and now i need to get out my pipe wrench so i can cut this because we don’t want these connected so we should be good to grab out some extraction modules some filter

Modules and the loader right here needs to have it loaded in there so we are going to put the low extraction module right here to pull out of the charger and this is going to work perfectly because the charger for appliance 62 at least only outputs items when they are

Fully charged so we can’t pull items out of it unless they’re fully charged unless we manually do it which is great so we don’t need to worry about filtering out a certain charge mount or anything like that or timing it and then down here we’re going to put on this

Brass item pipe coming from the unloader we’re going to put an extraction module and a filter module because we do need to filter this multiple things will be coming in here we need to filter this for the entropy manipulator allow that because we don’t want the converted item

The whatever it’s called the blizz cube to be pulled out of here and attempt to come over here or anything like that i don’t think it’d be able to pull out because i don’t think this will be a valid inventory but still i’m still going to filter it just to be safe

Because those will end up over here and so this should be good to pull the item out charge it back up once we connect this up to some flux ducts and some power and then put it back in here to load into this minecart with the hopper

And if we want to start running some flux ducts around the back right here we can just run them because they need to go to the blast chiller and then they need to come up right here and come over to go down into the top of the charger and then

They’re going to have to come over right here and the only reason we’re doing it like this is eventually there’s going to be some rotational power coming in right here which is why i am kind of not bringing it symmetrically i guess over and then we’re going to bring it down

Here and eventually we’re gonna have to bring it down here because the next thing we need to do in this setup is put down our pulverizer right here because if we take a look at the quest once we have the blizz cubes we need to either

Mill those down or i guess crush them down in the crushing wheels or pulverize them down in the pulverizer so we’re gonna use the pulverizer because it’s way more compact than doing the crushing wheels and we now have access to power and thermal series machines so no issue

Doing that so you put the pulverizer right here and yet again we’re going to use a modular reconfiguration augment on this so we can configure the sides to auto input from this side so it’ll pull it from the minecart unloader in here and then we’re going to eventually output

From this into a basin and all that stuff to do the rest of the chapter but there’s a lot more we need to do with this setup over here before we start worrying about finalizing off the chapter unfortunately the most complicated part of this whole setup or

I guess i should say the most convoluted part is where we’re at right now and that is the alchemical laser which will convert the stuff in the minecart hopper from the snowballs to the bliss cubes and the way that this works is all described by this right here because

There is a specific alchemical laser which is not an item that we can use but it is a ponder entry to explain to you how this works now i’m not going to make you sit through this whole thing but the idea is you need an invar machine and

Then you need any laser lamp from project red any color you want and we are going to build up over the center here i’m just going to get a block out so we can do this so we’re going to build up one and we’re going to

Put down an invar machine and we’ll get this back it went in here no it went in here okay there we go and we’re gonna have an invar machine and then we’re going to put down a lamp above again whatever color we want on that machine

On any side that’s the side the laser is going to fire off because it’s going to be a laser coming from that laser lamp go figure but the way you make the laser fire is first off we are going to power this whole thing with redstone so i need

To grab out some levers which should be right here and we’re just gonna power it on the back so it looks the nicest and that’ll turn on the lamp ooh very nice very nice cyan color but then we need to have a deployer act on the invar machine

So we need to grab those out i don’t know if i have them currently in my inventory i do so we’re going to put them over here and we’re going to put down the deployer like that i got the rotation power coming in the side which is i think what i need probably

I might need to have it going in the top i don’t actually know just yet but either way we have this and then we need to use a wrench to change this to punching mode since it needs to punch the invar machine to start the laser

And then we’re going to build off of this with a cog wheel and a rotation speed controller because we need this thing to be extremely fast so i’m just going to come up here and place down our well the rotation speed controller would actually be right here cog wheel right here there we

Go and then we’re going to scroll this all the way up to 256 rpm the reason being we need this to act pretty much immediately when we give it a signal onto the invar machine to trigger the laser because the timing behind everything in this setup is extremely crucial it is very time

Sensitive it won’t work if the timing’s off by even a fraction of a second so we got to get this going as fast as we possibly can which means we’re going to have to use a lot of water wheels to get this whole thing powered in the end

Because we are going to be using up a lot of stress capacity by this when it actually does start working because it’s going to be going really fast but now we need to get all the redstone working for this whole thing so the first redstone that we’re going to need and this is

Going to be a lot of redstone links well it looks like i already had them in my inventory so we are good to go but a lot of redstone stuff we need to do right now so the first thing is firing the cart back how do we know once the cart

Comes over here and is unloaded to fire it back well we’re going to only be firing you back not right once it’s unloaded because that’ll mess everything up we’re going to put down a redstone link right here we’re going to put down a redstone link doesn’t really matter

Which side so we’ll put it down right here and then we can set this to whatever frequency we want i’m going to set it to be oh no i was going to say no why is this happening i was going to set it to be double snowball but i’m throwing all my

Snowballs so we’re going to set it like that and then we can set this to be receiving and the idea here is that it is going to send it back when this has reached again it’s full for stacks of snowballs so the cart will only come back when the entirety of the snowballs

Are ready to be loaded into it and because it’s back here this will then power the planks which will then power the powered rail and send it back so that’s how we have it timed properly to come back we can speed up the process of going back and forth a lot by putting

Some augments into the blast chiller to make it go faster we can add some components for this higher tier components and then some other augments to increase the speed of it but that’ll just cover that entirely now really the thing that we need to worry about is the

Redstone that’s going to make the deployer fire off at the appropriate time to catch this cart when it’s flying between these two because there’s only one block for it to be caught on right here we need to fire the laser off at the perfect time to catch the minecart

With a hopper right here with this deployer punching this so the way that we’re gonna do this is by digging down a bit right here with the overpowered shovel so i’m gonna try not to break everything and it should be like maybe like that right there

And then we need to grab out a redstone torch and some regular redstone and we are going to put down a regular redstone right here which is going to get a signal when the minecart is full if i could access the nope it’s not going to let me

No i guess i can no longer access from over here at least the minecart loader there we go so the minecart loader we already set it to give off the redstone signal when the cart is full so right when the cart gets sent off we’re going

To have this redstone wire down here get a redstone signal it’s then going to take this redstone torch and turn it off and then we are going to get another redstone link and that’s going to go down here and we can just set this to a channel of an invar machine on frequency

1 and then this can come up here and put this to invar machine and then set this to be receiving so what this will do is even when the deployer has rotational power it’s not going to be punching like you know rapidly right there if i didn’t give you

Guys like a seizure by flicking my screen all over the place but you know it’s gonna be rapidly punching but when we give it a redstone signal it is going to completely stop in its tracks until the redstone signal goes away and then it can go back to just rapidly punching

256 times a minute but that’s going to happen the minute this cart leaves so it’s immediately going to trigger this laser and then it’s going to fire off and it’s only going to do it once because this is going to do when the card is full the

Minute the card leaves the card is no longer full it’s no longer on this at all so the signal goes away which is important because if the laser keeps firing it’s going to break stuff it deals damage to stuff around it is not good you cannot keep the laser firing

Repeatedly you need to trigger it like once and just be done with it so that’s how this whole thing works once this has rotational power up here if this cart were to be full and leave it would fire off the laser which would hit the cart convert the stuff before it gets over

To the minecart unloader over here which is important because unless we make this setup way way bigger there’s no good way to actually filter stuff to make sure that no snowballs are coming into the unloader and clogging up your system now i ran this for about 12 hours while i was

Sleeping in a creative test world as i always do and it never produced snowballs that went in here they all got converted properly so i think it’s pretty safe to say that this setup is going to work flawlessly without having to worry that eventually the timing is

Going to be messed up and it’s not going to convert and there’ll be snowballs and it’ll clog it up and all get messy so that’s got the rage stamp of approval guarantee on it and that means that pretty much all the redstone is taken

Care of for the most part now we got to deal with a little bit of pulling the items out but i think what i’m going to do is hook up some numismatic dynamos in the back over here and give some rotational power to this whole thing and

Then i’ll hop back and we can actually watch it functioning and make sure it works okay well i think everything should be good right now we got some water wheels going in the back right here we have the power coming into the deployer which is not punching as you

Can see but it is still giving a stress impact so it’s it’s very interesting it’s not like having a clutch or something which is disabling rotational power to this and not using it it’s just not firing off but that’s all well and good we have the if we take a look in

Here we have our entropy manipulator charged up and ready to go we’ve got four stacks of snowballs unfortunately i had to break the minecart because if we take a look in here i was working and the minecart started firing off and then the laser was going and there was no

Rotational power in the deployer yet so it wasn’t actually converting the snowballs it was just clogging up everything so in theory if i place this minecart down it should actually just start working right out the gate there we go it got converted it went in here that noise you heard was this

Successfully hitting the minecart and converting it should have gone back in there to charge and end up back in here i think if everything pulls out correctly from this is it no okay so something’s wrong in here we need to quickly and i’m just going to grab out these

Snowballs so it doesn’t send it back we need to check the filter over here that we set for this so we need to check this filter right here we need to extract oh that’s the issue we don’t need a filter module on this we need to pull that out we need just the

Extraction filter on that okay there we go so if we if we were to chuck this in there it should it should be able to pull that out yes and then recharge it nice okay so i made that mistake i forgot the extraction modules themselves can have the filters

On them a little bit of a brain fart on my part earlier but now this should be filling back up with snowballs it should hit the 12 right there disable it it gets sent back it’ll complete the four it’s fired off it did the conversion those are coming in here it does hurt

You if you stand in range of it though so something that is very important to be careful of and now it’s time to finish off this setup it’s becoming night time so it’s not really well lit up over here but either way we can finish this off so we are going to dig

Down right here below the pulverizer and in front to set this up we are going to put down a basin along with some pipes right here so pipe pipe basin right like this this basin is going to need a press on top of it and this is going to

If we grab out a press right here uh gotta it needs to go oh no it’s oh right okay it’s the it’s the fact that it was firing off oh it scared me oh my gosh okay so we’re gonna put down the press on top of nope not like that we need to

Put it down on top of this right no what why is putting it down like that that’s so weird okay the press needs to come down right here like that okay i could have just put it down on this gearbox why did i top all

The way up there oh my gosh okay well we can get rid of that right there and that probably ended up in there so this basin if we put an extraction module over here is going to need to get both the blizz powder and the nighter in it because we

Need to pull those out of here this thing’s going to kill me oh my gosh okay we need to eat some food so we need to put an extraction module on this we want everything to get pulled out and come in here and then we’re going to put down some drawers right here

And we are going to put down some more pipes i got to eat again or it’s going to hurt me again it’s going to go again i don’t know the range that it hurts you in but that thing’s going to hurt me again then we need to put down another

Extraction module on some pretty pipes that are over here so we’re going to put down an extraction module right there and then we need to quickly adjust the filter for this because the filter for this one needs to be the blitz powder and the knighter

So we’re going to have that or not the blizz powder it’s going to be the blizz cubes i was wait is this is what we want no it’s making no we want to make this it’s sending out what why is it putting the cubes in here is this not being filtered properly

Do we seriously need to filter this for the powder and the what so i did get some ice charges so we need to filter this specifically for these two because it’s pulling out the input from this interesting i wonder if it would be different if we set it to output out the

Bottom only interesting well either way we only want to have the blizz powder in there to make the ice charges the ice charges then are going to be if we come over here and finally set this filter in the back the extraction module we want the ice charges to come

Out and we want the nighter to come out so these are going to be allowed and then we’re going to finish this off right here put the charges down there put the knighter in the top one right like that and now i believe this should be working if this oh did i i

Took the extraction module out of this okay it dumped one of these oh it ended up falling down there huh okay is this pulling out the wrong stuff or is it just pulling out the blizz powder because it’s set to output at the bottom either way we just want to disallow the

Blizz cube so that’s disallowed if for some reason that gets pulled out i didn’t think you’d be able to pull that out but now this is smashing them it’s making ice charges which is right over here which is the compact cold quest so we can complete this we can complete

This and then finally if we were to grab one of these out boom that is completed so the entire right side of the tree here is done that is great we’re generating these and this should be able to keep up over here with the amount that’s coming out but it’s not going to

Okay i’m not dying for today’s episode we’re not doing that hopefully you guys enjoyed today’s episode but that’s going to be it for me i will do the other version of this off camera because i’m being super lazy right now and it took forever to set
