Minecraft 1.18 Update – Amplified Terrain and Cave Exploration! | Survival Heights [S2 18]

Hey everybody welcome back to survival heights season two now i haven’t done anything since the last episode i’m picking right up where we left off in the previous one because i want to get you all prepared for today’s episode so remember last episode how i mentioned that we weren’t gonna be

Doing the nether portal in the episode well today we’re gonna switch it up and we’re going to do this nether portal that’s behind me uh it’s gonna be an exciting episode hopefully if you guys do enjoy today’s video make sure to leave a like down below and comment and

Tell me what your favorite part of today’s episode is but without further ado folks we’ve got some work to do let’s jump into it and get rolling with this nether portal so for the portal we decided to go with a trident design actually kind of loosely based off of an upside down

Sword another portal design that many of you probably know at this point this is actually a suggestion by stream the first suggestion was a sword thing and then i believe it was jen who said well why not make it an upside down trident so we’re going with it i’m just basing

This off of a picture of a trident so there really isn’t any planning to this other than free handing it and i think it turned out pretty well got some suggestions from twitch chat for the textured blocks and but not into it and i think it turned out pretty dang well

Things left to do on some of these islands a little bit left to do inside that ocean monument there but outside of that it should be done relatively soon i was hoping by the end of this year so the end of 2021 is that when i wanted to have this done so i

Think we’re approaching it pretty quickly though along with that though folks i have done some additional things around the world since that last time-lapse so you’ll see over to the right here uh there’s still the villager stuff right and i’ve been working on some of these villagers down here as

We’ve been getting gold from the gold farm maxing out all of their trades getting them to master librarians get them all down to the one emerald esque trade series a lot of these are down to it where we still have a few rows of uh a

Few rows of villagers left to go but we’re making some good progress another thing i don’t know if i’ve mentioned this before but i have these two item sorters right here now for the iron as well as the poppies the poppies automatically now go into uh what are these composters that’s what

They’re called and you can see all the iron that we’ve been we’ve been sort of filtering a lot of it’s been going into here at this point a ton more chests here it’s really ugly so i feel like we’re gonna move this iron from at some point but

For now it really helps with all the all of the crazy amounts of iron and poppies that have just been overflowing that iron farm if we head over this way as well once again i don’t know if i have actually showed this off in the last episode so we’ll show it off again

But if you see over here we have a sorting system for the mob farm as well so yep we are we’re moving along moving up in the world uh i don’t know what to do with the sorting system and how to make it look better but we’ll get to

That whenever we actually decorate this mob farm which we will do at some point we we will it just it just might take a bit but the final thing ladies and gentlemen that i have been working on is prep for 1.18 so if we head over back to the main

Base area here you’ll see down there a little circle has been placed so the plan for this area in one of the plans for 1.18 is to build a mega mine shaft build actually over here in the one dot what is this 1.16 terrain technically

Uh so i built this huge circle here it’s gonna be a huge quarry we’re gonna work on this in a future episode it’s not gonna be today like i said future episode because today ladies and gentlemen is 1.18 exploration day i am so excited to actually get to look at what 1.18

Amplified looks like because i’ve seen a few pictures here and there but i have not seen it in person so i’m really stoked for this we’re going to get some materials together in terms of getting shorter box so we can put materials in if we want any anyways no

There’s no new blocks we shouldn’t really have much with that but if we want to go out and get some i don’t know some different things that spawn naturally and want that 18 terrain uh we can have the option to do that i suppose i am interested actually in what’s

Beneath all the 1.17 1.16 1.17 terrain here um as well as the blending stuff that mojang has done if you guys don’t know they’ve done some blending features basically to blend the 1.17 terrain 1.17 in prior terrain 2 1.18 so we might take a look at that later on

Today but the main thing is i want to get a portal together so that we can actually go to 1.18 terrain and see what it looks like in amplify because it is going to be nuts so ladies and gentlemen let me get some obsidian together let’s get

This going well i’ve got the portal all set up out here at x0 z500 which should put us about 4 000 blocks out and we’re gonna have to see where this takes us i am now like you can see officially in 1.18 i’m using a preview version of

Optifine actually for this as well so hopefully that’ll help a little bit with the frame rate uh i’m a little scared of amplify 1.18 frame rate but we’re just going to jump into it so without further ado folks let’s go well that’s not quite ideal this is definitely newer terrain oh my gosh

How do we end up in the middle of a mesa that’s in a map whoa i think we’re in a mountain a mesa mountain something like that let me take down these chords so that we don’t lose these we are what yeah we’re just about 4 000

Blocks out i’ve never been here before as far as i remember let’s put on on our elytra i have i do have some rockets here i do have some steak here so we’re gonna have to sort of explore this place that’s not the best place but we do have

A badlands right here which is actually perfect if i wanted to do a badlands outpost if you will which i have thought about doing before new world height is way up here i think i think we’re past world height here yeah holy smokes i can’t even render it all in holy cow

That is a big mountain that is huge honestly guys i don’t even know where to go from here we don’t want us to want to go back to where we came from but we don’t necessarily want to stray too far from here yet is that is that a well or something no i

Think that’s a that’s a little um oh there’s a coral reef here oh that’s very nice and the frame rate’s actually not too terrible i would have thought it would have been a lot worse loading in chunks but it’s actually not too terrible this is definitely new to rain though 100 new

Terrain you can tell just by the sheer world heights wow this mesa or i guess badlands whatever you want to call it looks absolutely beautiful so folks i’m gonna go ahead start exploring around this area hold on hello what are you nothing good that is big unfortunate all

Right folks well i’m gonna start exploring and i guess we’ll see what this land has to offer i’ll probably go a little thousand blocks sort of radius around here just to see what i can find we’re not going to go too far hope maybe we’ll see maybe i’ll

Go too far we’ll explore more as we go along anyway so i’m gonna go ahead folks i’m gonna go to an explorer let’s get going all right so i’ve stumbled upon another one of these things right here another portal let’s see if there’s anything good in here i would love love love

Loves notch apples right about now so let’s jump into here oh damn all right well that’s another one we’re going right we’re going straight through a mountain biome right here though with i guess some savannah stuff here and this flat train here looks beautiful but if you look back here you can sort

Of see how all the ores are distributed i know that there’s a different distribution of ores now for 1.18 so i am excited about that and uh yeah this is gonna be it’s gonna be a lot to get used to what is that what is that

Is that a drip stone cave is is is that what these things are called drip stone cave something like that holy cow i don’t want to die this is hardcore um okay okay okay there’s so many mobs actually there aren’t that many mobs i was expecting more mobs

There aren’t as many mobs i think isn’t it in 1.18 that we have the new sort of mob like spawn stuff they have to spawn in zero or something light level zero something like that i mean there’s a lot of light level zero down here that’s for sure there’s even a

Spider right there oh hi go away please thank you what is this is this meadows oh i think this is a new biome isn’t it there’s a little bit of drip stone here we can actually grab some drip stone that is one thing i definitely want we can definitely grab some drip zone

Because i do not have enough of this stuff yeah i heard that there’s a new over world bio meadows i guess that that coincides with all the new cave biomes and stuff so that’s pretty cool right that’s pretty dope i can’t reiterate enough to how impressed i am that my computer is

Not dying doing this i was so afraid for 1.18 amplified that my computer was just gonna die and it hasn’t so hats off to mojang and also hats off to i’m sure the optifine developer uh has had it hand in dash and i’m using optifine with this as

Well so hats off to uh to mojang and then of course optifine for for that that’s insane i’m pleasantly surprised so far about how this is going oh is this oh is this the snow i don’t i know there’s a thing about like standing in some sort of snow i forget what it’s

Called so i want to make sure that i’m not like gonna die or something oh there’s a goat there’s a goat there’s there’s certain snow that maybe you can fall in it i don’t know it’s i’ve heard people say stuff about a certain kind of snow i have to look into

It at some point sure goats hi buddy hi buddy how’s it going selfie there we go perfect that’s a lot of mobs right there as well what’s that oh that’s the goat okay i thought they were going to kill me or something more drip stone here that’s kind of insane though i don’t

Want to i want to go into the caves but i don’t want to die well to explore some of it at some point i’m really exploring the overworld or the overland terrain whatever you want to call it right now and we’ve gone too far this way though let’s circle around

Oh there’s a jungle a jungle right here perfect that’s what i want to see it’s a huge cave right here i don’t want to go down and die in this thing so let’s yeah there are ton of caves here i want to make sure that we’re pretty careful about this there’s

Another drip stone drip stone caves right here more drip stone very nice a lot of drip stone down here very cool i will say though this amplified feels like how amplified should be though that’s some weird chunk loading right there but definitely feels like how amplified should be and i’m really really happy

With this so far so kind of wish this was of course with 1.17 but what you’re gonna do also there’s a village right here very nice let’s check out this village and of course have to steal the bell wouldn’t be me without stealing the bell of course b what’s in here

Oh we don’t need any of that we’re good potatoes i’ll take the potatoes yeah that’s it for that village not a whole ton there but hey got into the village i guess so that’s pretty cool we are up at 5 000 there’s a bunch of jungle around here there’s some

Pumpkins down there as well two pumpkin patches jeez louise all right then oh this is so cool you can go all the way through look at this look at that oh that’s so cool oh my goodness this little cave right here this is perfection you want the definition of perfection in

Minecraft it’s literally this folks i’ve been playing amplified for probably five or six years something along those lines this is insane like i i i the fact that i’m oohing and awing and wowing at this having played this game for so long yeah this is this is legit

So we’re getting back to some more mace here i think we’re in a pretty warm area here so oh there’s a portal i feel like we’ve been to this portal though haven’t i been here i thought i’d been here we’ll find out actually no i haven’t it’s still covered

Okay let’s see what’s in this portal ready a clock seriously give me a clock that’s the best you got uh we keep going though more badlands here oh that’s a neat looking formation right there the spawn i’m gonna guess right there badlands sort of like hanging mine shops right there that’s pretty cool

They’re all hanging from the chains that’s really nice i like that that’s that’s a neat little effect okay bamboo forest that’s pretty neat don’t think i’ve seen one of these yet i mean i mean i may have seen them in some of the 1.17 terrain but

Nothing on this scale all right you got another portal see if we get anything i feel like i may have been to some of this stuff though but we’ll see just some gold nothing too special just a little bit of gold well that’s fine that’s fine and dandy

We’ll take that it’s a little underwater cave in here so this one isn’t terrible but i’m betting there’s lots more of these underwater caves and some other places oh man it really is insane looking just looking at all of this terrain and seeing how high all this train goes oh

And there’s a village right here i guess i haven’t been here we can explore this a little bit what’s up here i need to find the bell as well oh there’s a portal we want that portal in a minute all right let’s let’s explore this first bell time there’s a book

Although that’s particularly helpful yeah this place is pretty much empty not a very good location all right well that’s fine oh i should probably grab these other hay bells down here as well and let’s have a little look-see at this portal gonna grab the gold block ah

Nothing major there all right well i’ll explore a little bit more folks but i think we’ve pretty much out explored for today uh oh there’s a villager or pillager outpost right here oh villager pillager village and pillage it’s not that update quite quite yet that was a

Little bit ago so i’m gonna go ahead folks go to sleep i’m gonna make my way i think unless i find something else i’m gonna make my way back over to the spawn area because i want to dig down below actually where all of our main

Chunks are there and i want to see how far we can go if we can break the bedrock and what is underneath of that because i think that’s going to be really freaking cool to go see so let’s go ahead i’m going to pull the screenshot probably of the coordinates

Of my portal uh and let’s head back and see what’s in our oh there’s some phones right there that’s neat i’ve never seen that before man i think that those have been in the game for a long time i just haven’t seen them but there’s a coral

Reef in the middle of this place what do you what in the world is the seed anyways folks i’m think i’m gonna head back to the main area like i said and once i do we’ll head down below and explore a little bit more i guess all

Right folks so i’m back at our spawn area i’m down at where we initially did a lot of our mining and caving at the very beginning of this world what 10 months ago i think some don’t like that and i’m digging down right here because what’s supposed to happen for those who

Don’t know is that the bedrock underneath of these chunks turns into deep slate i believe if we walk down here you can see these chunks were originally generated in so there wouldn’t be any deep slate this this far down and as you can see we’ve got ourselves some deep slate so

I’m going to keep trying to dig down and see if we can find some cave area down here i don’t know if we’ll find any caves or not but i’ll just keep digging through some deep slate uh and see what comes out of this so i’ll give you guys

A progress update whenever we do have some though well we found our first diamonds down here there’s one diamond two diamonds i’ll certainly take that thank you thank you all right y’all i’ve dug around a little bit around here and i found our first cave down here

Which literally has just a bunch of lava right there apparently i don’t think there’s anything else up here i don’t expect these to be huge caves down here oh there we go okay this is pretty cool though oh here’s a skeleton so yeah these caves are pretty cool i’m

Going to go ahead and explore some of this see what we can find um i don’t know what the ores are like down here i don’t really know what the distributions are like i know that there is a new distribution of ores um for 1.18 but i don’t know exactly

What it looks like so um yeah i’m gonna go ahead though and see what ores we can find around here got some iron here of course see what else we can find and then i’ll show you guys some of the good parts oh diamonds before we go

I guess you find diamonds down here so that’s fairly simple okay well i’ll definitely take those anyways let’s see what else we can find around here oh there’s some lava down there so we can make our way down there i don’t think there’s anything good down here i think it’s literally just yeah

It’s just lava we can go down to the lava though see if we got my water bucket oh some diamonds on the side there nice it’s it though one dime that’s unfortunate okay there’s a huge game up there um we got to be careful about that oh

Don’t want a creeper to drop down on me or something here we go this is not that big of a cave i don’t feel like there are more mobs down here though for some reason maybe because we’ve lit up everything else around here i don’t know definitely feels like there’s more mobs though

I think above us no we’re good oh drip stone is there a drip stone cavern up here what’s up here i hear lots of mobs there are so many mobs around here i hear them all i think there’s a drip stone cavern around here or something oh there is oh my gosh

There is so much good stuff around here there’s also a lot of mobs we gotta be really careful yeah tons of drip stone that we can we can get from around here a big fan of this all right folks i’m gonna explore some of this cave i

Think um get some materials together we need to get some shulker box together so i put some of this stuff in it and then when i’m done exploring this i think uh i’ll bring you guys back and i’ll show you guys all the loot that we’ve gotten already i’ve done a ton of

Exploring both on stream and since the last time you guys saw me doing some exploring i explored that drip stone cave we actually found some lush caverns lush cave whatever it’s called went out to the original 1.18 area that i exported and did some caving and exploring did a lot of underwater

Exploring as well which seemed to be the best way to get some of this stuff but these four shulker boxes show you all the stuff that we have so in here got a few things of dribbling some glow berries hey bills from various villages of course and other ores and whatnot

We have a whole bunch of drip stone here from the drip stone cave as well some other ores and over two stacks of diamonds now these were fortunate and they originated from i think 66 diamond ore blocks 55 were deep stone or deep slate and 11 of them were regular so

That’s pretty cool and here we have some additional deep slate and some various things i got from villages some more drip stone various stuff like that then over here i actually got an axolotl so i got one in here the bell found a block of gold some moss from the

Uh from the what whatever that one cave was that that i called lush cavern lush cave that’s what it was called uh and then some other oars and stuff some glow ink from glow squids as well but this is the hall that we got from all of

Our exploring this this diamond hall i’m very surprised by i was very surprised about how easy it was to find diamonds to be quite honest with you maybe it’s because i’m super geared maybe it’s because there’s a lot more exposed area in caves nowadays because of how much larger caves are now and

Distribution of diamond i don’t know the technical the technicalities of it but either way we got some good loot and hopefully hopefully you all enjoyed today’s 1.18 expiration flying around the little 1.18 generated area that we went to exploring a little bit of some caves as well hopefully you all enjoyed
