The latest Bedrock Preview is live and it contains a pretty pointed experiment: Mojang wants to make the Nether feel more like Java by cutting down how many mobs spawn and tweaking fortress mechanics. This is not a subtle tweak. The changelog explicitly calls out reduced mob density and fortress spawning adjustments under the new Nether Spawning Rebalancing experiment.
Community manager Jay Wells did not bury the lead. He posted the changelog and then immediately followed up with a direct request for feedback on the rebalance. That kind of proactive ask usually means the team is weighing whether to ship it in the next major drop.
What the experiment actually does
- Lowers overall Nether mob density
- Adjusts fortress and bastion spawning to closer resemble Java Edition
- Aims to fix long-standing parity complaints between editions
- Available only in the experimental toggle for now
The preview also brings jukebox playlists that let you load multiple discs via a chest on top of the jukebox plus various bug fixes and character creator improvements. But the Nether test is the part getting the explicit call for community input.
If you are on Bedrock and have opinions about empty Nether tunnels versus constant ghast interruptions this is the exact week to test it and reply. Mojang is watching the responses.
